The Community Round Up

Double Gameweek fever was in full swing this week as the likes of Charlie Austin, Matty Phillips and Christian Benteke racked up huge scores to whet the appetite ahead of double Gameweek 34. Our community writers and hot topics cast our eye over the impending doubles and we also see the launch of a new regular article, which looks back at the community’s best and worst mistakes in the Gameweek gone by. In our members tables we look in-depth at Liverpool’s best attacking assets and catch up on the ups and downs in our mini-leagues in light of Benteke and Austin’s exploits.

The Community Articles

This week we introduced the first in a regular series of articles looking at the community’s tales of woe and joy during the last Gameweek. With QPR and Aston Villa’s assets running riot there were plenty of tears being shed in our inaugural Rough with the Smooth article.

What better way to reward QPR’s two-goal double Gameweek hero Charlie Austin than handing him his P45? With Chelsea and a blank fixture over the next two Gameweeks many of his owners are considering ditching the striker, with JK on hand to look over the potential replacements. Chelsea’s Loic Remy is at the front of the queue of replacements for money, according to this article by PKWrona.

Benteke’s four goals made him the standout hero of Gameweek 31. Given The Puntmaster‘s excellent recent form in unearthing differentials, it was no surprise to see the Aston Villa man in his trio of punts last week. To see his predictions for low ownership success in Gameweek 32, click here.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article. Also watch out next week when we will be asking for your vote in our search for the best community article during March.

The Hottest Topics

As well as Charlie Austin, another striker that many are looking to ditch is Sergio Aguero, who has now gone five Premier League appearances without a goal. Despite his poor tallies, Andy85 says the Manchester City man is still worth keeping.

Another striker to come under Andy85’s watchful eye is Chelsea’s Loic Remy, who, in spite of competition for places, looks to be a risk worth taking, particularly with a double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa’s injury has propelled him into many other community members’ thinking, with Ruth NZ pointing out that he could be set to miss more than the next two Premier League matches.

While dumping the hamstrung Costa is a sensible move, RuthNZ went a bit more leftfield with an earlier post during the week in which he revealed plans to ditch this year’s budget striker sensation Harry Kane. Read his justification for this bold move here.

Although, with Liverpool and Hull joining Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 perhaps ditching the Spurs man may not be so hard to do, as competition hots up amongst the forward positions. Daniel Sturridge is among the Liverpool players that many are considering drafting in, according to our hot topic on the best Reds trio for Gameweek 34.

The Members Tables

For those considering Liverpool options, I’ve constructed this handy table looking at their most attacking options. Sorted by shots in the box, this has a global filter.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Spectrum won the Long and Winding Road’s prestigious FA Cup of Tea tournament this season, when he beat Mull in the final. Sticking with the Long and Winding Road , Simon Walsh has taken top spot from Greenwindmill in their main league.

Despite this disappointment Greenwindmill continues to lead the FFScout moderators and contributors league, but second placed Mark is edging closer and closed the gap to just 14 in Gameweek 31.

Ross Gillard is another surviving leader, and stays at the summit of the Top 1,000 Any Season league. Meanwhile in the Top 100 Any Season league Rohan Rees has snatched top place.

Choking Hazard hit the top score in Gameweek 31 with 100 in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 84 teams left after 33 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.

In RedLightning’s FFS January Wildcard League James 101 has taken the lead, meanwhile in his Top 10,000 Any Season league, Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit.

Meanwhile, in OFCProdigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, the Fantasy Football Scout picks continue in the lead with Mookie and Sticky Mockwell in close pursuit following Gameweek 31.

    Morning DZ,

I want to replace Naughton before his price fall.
Looking for cheap defender with no blank in GW33 and decent fixture.
My other DEF are Ivan, Clyne, Bellerin and PVA so the incoming one doesn't have to have nice fixture coming GW as I probably wouldn't play him anyway.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Thank you 🙂

Was in the same pickle as you, picked Duff (3.9) since I am only going to play him for LEI (34) and avl (38)

I care mostly about blan in GW33 as I already have few players with blank, PVA, Bellerin, Hnedo and Phillips. So must play and have a good fixture in GW33
I was thinking of Schupp or Damn but second a bit too expensive

Take a look at Dawson perhaps? CPL are flying at the moment but still a decent fixture on paper. Dawson in a better defensive team, Schlupp more attacking. Tough call

Saints have some decent fixtures and defensively have been sound. I have Clyne/Berty currently, though will be getting rid one in the next two weeks, but will also be getting Davis

Yes, that's right. I had Forster and one of Clyne/Ber most of the season, even both plus goalie for few GWs.
Don't like to double up since Forster have been injured tho 🙂 plus the "easy" fixtures they have are all vs team fighting to stay in BPL! Won't be easy afterall I guess

How much did u buy naughton for in the first place? If like me u bought at 4.3 and he is 4.4 atm, then your selling price will still be 4.3.

I want to sell too but am in no rush so will wait till next gw before choosing a def for gw33

    Aguero > Remy?

Both on the verge of price changes but with Jovetic/Bony out Aguero could really do some damage, but Remy goal(s) vs QPR seems destined to happen

    1. HellasLEAF

why should price even matter at this stage. you pick the players that will do the job.

I think Kun is sell at own risk. brought in Remy just now but was for Austin.

Augero, maybe his cold stretch has happened and the goals are coming.

Again, sell at down risk but making decisions based on .1 up or down at this stage meaningless especially with so many great budget options this year.

      1. coran2123

Was just stating the fact, my thinking has nothing to do with prices. Aguero has fallen by 0.5 already, won't lose any sleep over 0.1 more

Teams can be poor one week and good the next, no? The idea is to predict, not assume the past will be repeated. I think Tottenham will score a few at home against a depleted villa defense which wasn't so good to begin with. I could be wrong, but I certainly don't think that a good team which struggles one week is assumed to repeat the next. That logic would suggest QPR will score 3 goals again versus Chelsea.

I know everyone says don't sell benteke, but I've convinced myself to sell for Remy. Better fixture this week, upcoming double seems very likely (and he is a bargain at 7.1 even if only playing 100 mins in the double) and no blank, it is a fairly easy decision IMO

BUT just as I was about to confirm transfers I thought.... Sherwood.... Vs Spurs. He is going to be at the peak of his aggression. sure he looks like an idiot but he does motivate his players.hmmmm.

I'm not talking about you, but yesterday was weird. Everyone talking about selling Austin because of his blank

Everyone talking about keeping benteke because of his form.

Both excellent form, both have a blank. Surely the situation is similar. Austin has been much better throughout the season too.

I think the main difference is more people own Austin so they'd thought it through to a greater extent.

    Sinclair -> Coutinho (-4) done

I had to do it... Didn't want to play Boyd. That means he'll score against Arsenal

It was better than playing Boyd, there really wasn't any other player to get.

I will do Coutinho -> Silva next week anyway.

Bellerin. I'm even considering him over Terry. He's becoming one of my favourite players

I loathe him. I sold Bellerin for Naughton only for Meyler to do Naughton and for Bellerin to then score

FPL aside, he is one silky player. So much better than Chambers it is hilarious what Wenger spent on the English kid. As a Southampton fan the laughter is sweeter 😀

If Gerrard remains out of the team, then I'll have to say Hendo. Sterling can't finish, Coutinho won't score pingas ever week, Henderson does have less threat from open play compared to those two but as mentioned above, will have pens if Gerrard doesn't play.
