By his own admission, Cesc Fabregas had the “worst first half” against West Ham on Saturday. Certainly, when a home win for Arsenal passes by without Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points for the skipper, you know that something is wrong.

A paltry 3 point Gameweek return for Fabregas left those who had played wildcards or spent points on recruiting him, feeling rather hollow; particularly given that the he was awarded the FPL captaincy by the majority of his owners. Those who resisted the Fabregas pull meanwhile, can feel somewhat smug by his return given that he later revealed that his hamstring remains a concern.

So just how badly did Fabregas perform in relation to his peers and his own high standards?

Very soon our Members will be able to analyse weekly Opta data so that player performance can be measured on a Gameweek basis; we’re testing that functionality right now. That form of analysis immediately comes into play when examining the potential of Fabregas in the light of the West Ham showing…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

so...in pretty much the same mess as everyone else with Fabs, Nani, VDV etc...

assuming VDV is out, could trade VDV for Cahill (will only lose .1 on VDV) and then next week drop Nasri for Bale - thoughts?

I can field a reasonable XI for the next gameweek so long as Drogba stays fit - bitter will be the tears if he gets crocked as well. Tempted to get rid of Bosingwa but other alternatives are no better after this GW. Testing times indeed.

All in the same boat here. I'm pondering whether I just ride out the storm an run the risk of playing only 10 before using two transfers for the midweek fixtures.

Either way, waiting to see what Friday and Saturday brings before doing anything. Too many variables

Some interesting odds on PFA player of the year. Nani is 11/1, with Cesc Fabregas and Rafael van der Vaart both currently 12/1. Drogs and Bale the favs.

hehe Spurs are going to finish 6th at best and their players are suddenly the favourites for the PFA awards?!

It's pretty pointless discussing this at this stage of the season, but I vote Ashley Cole. But Chelsea could win the league by 30 points and none of our players, or our manager, will win anything. Just like Mourinho never won manager of the year, despite cruising to the title.

Scholes = Pfa player of the year 2011. Fact.

No way never no more. He was taken off as he had no chance against an exceptional left back - he wont be playing Enrique every week, Bruce had to sacrifice someone to make way for Gyan.
Waaaaaaay too premature to suggest he will be a rotarisk now on the strength of that drubbing, he was no worse than any other Sunderland player out there.

Sky Sports attributed comments to Ferguson last night saying that Nani was definitely out of Saturdays game and it was highly likely that Fletcher would be too.

Elmo on the other hand was withdrawn due to Bruce trying to shore up his defence at the weekend, he has been praised to high heaven by Bruce in recent weeks, and I can't see him being benched.

Fabregas will play, Wenger more or less said so, they need to kick on after that late win last week, and Newcastle are on a high, so Arsene needs to play the best team. He will be resting all week.

How many times have we been here? How many times has "Will Tevez play? Mancini says he will be rested" or "Will Rooney play? He is out of the weekends game according to latest reports" nonsense emerged on this site as "fact".

Let's just wait and see, cool the jets, relax the kaks, everything will become clearer with time

Do I really have to say "in my opinion" for it to be clear that it is my opinion that he will play? Well, in my opinion Fabregas will play, my other comment was more in respect of Nani/VDV/Elmo etc, so I should of been clearer on that point to be fair, it's getting tiresome reading the same post ever three posts on here in respect of the same players

Yeah i gathered that it was your opinion, i was just a bit confused by your initial certainity which seemed to quickly turn into a more cautious approach as you were typing!

I hope Cesc does play otherwise i can see a very poor gameweek ahead for me (unless Albrighton comes back and scores a hatrick that is!)

I think he will play, but we won't know until we get further news is my point. I need him to play along with VDV/Nani/Adam/Elmo or whoever has emerged as a "doubt" or otherwise, just mental how things can be blown out of all proportion on here, but so be it!

A very poor gameweek beckons for alot of us, that is why I am not overly worried

my concern isn't just this weekend's or match by match fitness, it's long term and effectiveness on the pitch as these are all season holders imo (fabs, vdv, nani, etc.). even if they play this weekend, there's a good chance that they won't be effective or will risk their health for upcoming matches.

this gw is tricky in that the the next gw falls mid-week only a few days later, which could see a lot of these injury prone stars rested for more important matches when they're 100%, so that they don't aggrevate these niggling injuries that could lead to more severe ones. i think we're all going to have to rely heavily on our bench players for a bit, or really consider doing some major surgery on our squads, especially in mf.

Guys any ideas for my transfers this week? Or shall I just sit tight so I get 2 free ones next week? Not looking to take out nani, malouda or fabregas even if they're are doubts and would love to have VDV as well. Team is linked.

    Cheers in advance..

i'm just gonna sit tight before i move players around and see what happens. i think most, including myself, will just wait for the next gw and use the two free transfers then.

This is what Wenger said about Fab on Tues:

"Cesc Fabregas will not travel. It is a mixture of caution and his hamstring. We cannot take the gamble.

He has a good chance to play on Sunday but tomorrow would be a risk. He has no real strain but he has a little pain. He has had injuries before on his hamstring and he is a little bit reluctant to push 100 per cent."

      That's all there is 🙂

lads, i have a game of ball tonight but im doubtful. Me missus is giving out to me cos she's away home for the weekend, and im feeling my hammy after a sprint to the welfare office cos i forgot to sign on.

My large balls are also a minor hindrance on the field as I can't find my cup. All in all there's alot of doubt over whether i'll last the full 60 minutes on the astro turf. I wouldn't captain me, as i tend to get alot of yellows and the occasional red but i should be good for a few assists and boner points should me mates missus be on the sidelines again, she's a quality bit if fluff.

Ok, Experimenting with my team to see what formation I should play this week, how does this look?

      Hart
      Faye/Ridgewell/Evra/O'Shea/Alex
      VdV/Fabs/Brunt/Ferguson
      Drogs

      Subs: Dembele, Carroll, Nani

The annoying thing is, I'm sure Hernandez will pull off a big score this week, and I have no chance of getting him in my team.

Yeah, Alex and Jones are def starters for me this week. With Jara banned, leaves me with Foley (away at Man u) or Williamson (away at Arsenal)...

Possible transfer would be Jara -> x
Ideally wanna keep enough cash to do Nasri -> VDV next week, so x can only be 4.1->4.2m...otherwise could do williamson -> 4.3/4.4 def...

              any suggestions?
