By his own admission, Cesc Fabregas had the “worst first half” against West Ham on Saturday. Certainly, when a home win for Arsenal passes by without Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points for the skipper, you know that something is wrong.

A paltry 3 point Gameweek return for Fabregas left those who had played wildcards or spent points on recruiting him, feeling rather hollow; particularly given that the he was awarded the FPL captaincy by the majority of his owners. Those who resisted the Fabregas pull meanwhile, can feel somewhat smug by his return given that he later revealed that his hamstring remains a concern.

So just how badly did Fabregas perform in relation to his peers and his own high standards?

Very soon our Members will be able to analyse weekly Opta data so that player performance can be measured on a Gameweek basis; we’re testing that functionality right now. That form of analysis immediately comes into play when examining the potential of Fabregas in the light of the West Ham showing…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

These are the sort of weeks that you should just stay away from these shores, at least until Friday, the amount of panic that is going through people.

My league leader has taken a 12 point hit this week, which makes us level now AND he just brought in VDV! Despite us just telling him he was injured!

I told my rival for the first time what transfers I did and that Tevez was injured since I knew he had already taken a 8 point hit. He then logged on his pc to get the same player as me and a 12 point hit. Last time i'll do that, even if he got like 30 points.

Ok, these next three gameweeks occur over a very short period of real life time, so is there not a decent chance that Nani could be out of possibly the Man City game next Wednesday and even the Villa game the Saturday after.

Even if he is fit for these two, they aren't exactly good fixtures with both being away against reasonably good defences.

My initial plan was Cahill in this week, (already done), and then shifting him on for VDV at 7:29pm on Tuesday once the Spurs line-up is out to confirm VDV as starting, and then keeping VDV for GW13 also, and then wild carding in preperation for GW14. Cahill has Bolton at home for GW12 as back-up should VDV not be in that Spurs starting line-up.

However, I'm thinking now of getting Nani out for a 4 pointer for Silva for this week only, and then moving Silva out for VDV depending on the dutchman starting, instead of selling Cahill. That way I can keep Cahill for Bolton at home.

I would then wildcard Nani back in for GW14. I bought Nani for 8.4, so would lose 0.3 in selling him, but he will drop in price at least once you would have thought.

    Is this a good idea?

Yes, Albrighton will start, but what I meant was, not to recommend those midfielders as I already have them! Don't worry, I will be playing Albrighton these next two weeks until I sell him.

I wouldn't get VDV for this week. Toughish game and he's a possible injury doubt.

At least the plan of VDV in for GW12 makes sense, as the injury doubt factor is eliminated since we will see the starting line-ups before the deadline. I think it's best to go for another potentially high-scoring GW11 midfielder first, and then ship him on for VDV should he be fit.

      It's disheartening isn't it.

The same with last year's winner of FPL, John Reeson, languishing down in one millionth place. We all come on here and think about our teams a lot, presumably because we only think that about 20% or so of luck is involved, and that our extra knowledge and 'skill' can make up for it.

However, what if this game really is more like 80% luck, we're all then wasting our time really... 🙁

The only thing I can add is that I guess it doesn't matter where you are now, but at the end of GW38, and maybe by then, the best players will still be up there.

haha. it was impressive to see him stay on the pitch for 76 mins in a game where Sunderland let in 5 goals...If there was ever an understandable moment for him to get sent off, it was last weekend

they'll definitely be hoping/aiming to have him for the derby i'm sure as that's a vital game, then maybe even rest him against an easier one like wigan.

    Current team is:

    Schwarzer Carson
    Alex Dann Konchesky Shawcross Jones
    Malouda Fabregas Nani VDV Adam
    Drogba Carroll Dembele

What should I do? I was initially thinking of Alex-->Coleman, but I am not sure if he's safe from rotation?

Coleman made way for Saha when it was 0-0 at the weekend so he is susceptible to coming off if things don't go right. Needs to emulate his Merseyside derby performance to cement his place - he's been really quiet the last two games.

I'm holding onto him for now but would agree that Alex looks a good bet for Chelsea's games v Fulham and Sunderland.

Yeah, I've seen him play. Wasn't impressed. What he did during the derby was great, but from I've seen I doubt he'll start doing it on a regular basis. Also, Moyes really rates Anichebe and plays him on the right wing when he starts him. Too much risk regarding Coleman.

Keep Alex, taking him out weeks ago is my biggest regret. Unless you need the money to get another big player he is a season keeper

Is he not a rotation risk? I was planning on upgrading Schwarzer for Cech - to guarantee Chelsea clean sheet points.

Hes not a rotation risk. Hes been Chelsea' best centre back this season. I would have alex over Cech as he is a threat from corners and free kicks.
