The transfer of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal this week has many a Fantasy manager eyeing up the new Gunners midfielder. Priced at just 8.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Arteta looks, potentially, a real value for money option this season, bringing a much-needed maturity to the Arsenal playmaker role in light of Cesc Fabregas’ departure to Barcelona.

In today’s Members Article, we delve into the statistics from last season, looking at a variety of factors to ascertain whether they offer a hint at just what Arteta could offer Arsenal –and, of course, Fantasy managers- in the campaign ahead:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Seems the logical position. He isn't quite a fluid though so you may see him and Wilshere playing ahead of Song in a 4-3-3 as oppose to 4-2-3-1 am going to wait and see on Arteta. Wouldn't surprise me if he was on the bench v Swansea. RVP is the priority for them this week. I have a feeling Theo will go nuts this week too.

I heard Ramsey was subbed early for Wales last night. If he's not fit, Arteta will definitely start.

I'd still choose Walcott over Arteta though.

Yeah I saw that too. Apparently he was excellent so can only assume he was injured. My gamble on him for the Swansea game is doomed.

He certainly didn't look injured when coming off. Just think he ran out of steam, so some fresh legs were brought on.

Agreed. I think next weekend could be another Walcott vs Blackpool.

But fitting him in my team is much harder than getting Arteta in so I'm willing to give the Spaniard a go. You've got to assume he'll be on some corners and free-kicks, now with a massive Per to aim at.

Two 12 mill fwds is excessive esp as ARS are o.o.f.
Suarez needs to be in there.
Downgrade Bad K for Brown 4.5 and upgrade Sinclair for something a little more productive.

Defence looks a bit weak. Simpson could be risky now as there is talk that r taylor will move over to right back to accomodate santon but it remains to be seen.

Had moses got rid thought as he has done nothing. Wigna also got two wingers in the transfer window.

Sinclair also not sold on yet.

I think by the end of this international break we'll be getting rumours that he's set to start, and after that he'll be a reasonable enough punt.

Adebayor is great value but he can wait until Spurs settle and their fixtures ease. Thought Defoe looked really sharp when he came on last week. Him and Ade may form a decent partnership with VDV injured. I still can't quite get over 'arry starting Krancjar and Modric in the middle against City. If he managed England, I will cry.

Silva is safe. Dzeko is for the moment but any dip in form and there is a big worry Tev will come in. Doesn't look likely at the moment though and maybe Mancini will just stick with him and build the team around him. He is great value.

I watched Dzeko for Bosnia and for Wol. He is class forward, he just needed time to adapt to the PL. He'll get 30 + starts this year. Before the Tot game I commented that I saw him once he scored 4 goals and BAM he scored them again.

In the PL with 2 small forwards or only one like Tevez last year means that u can't break the smaller teams and that resulted last year when at home City couldn't score a goal
If they want to be champions this is the cure. Mancini knows how to be champion and he'll do it.

I wonder just how De Jong's recovery will influence?

This stage of the GW is to early cause u've missed the price changes. But this GW was the right time IMO to do it. Wait for the deadline to pass and if u r not happy with your team then do it, pull the trigger. The point is that this year the prices are seriously inflated and there is no Carroll, Adam, DJ to relax and have the cash for other areas. Maybe someone will say yeah its early but a lot of crucial players according to me, had there price risen so sooner than later they are gonna be out of the price range. I am for aggressive play in the beginning with hits and early WC in order to gain advantage of the bandwagons and later in the season when everybody are doing crazy punts we are gonna play safe and kill in the rankings ;).

        I hope that helps,
        Cheers,

Obertan or Barkley? Still worried that about Barkley's game time, despite Arteta leaving. Even more concerned with Obertan's ability to kick a ball. Anyone seen him this season? Reviews suggest he had been very average.

Barkley is great but according the fixtures and u must take in tho consideration for the cheaper players I say Obertan. But I am not sure that he is regular starter. What do other think, is he regular?

I like his chances. He'll be rotated against the tougher sides which is ok according to me. Against the weaker team when he has potential he'll bring the points. Worth the risk IMO if u have bench.

Just looking for final confirmation/last minute changes before i submit.

    Vorm, Given
Taylor S (or R), Ward, Jose Enrique, Smalling, Bosingwa
    Arteta, Jarvis, Young, Brunt, Dyer
    Suarez, Dzeko, Rooney

0.3 still in bank, 0.7 if R is chosen.

16 million to spend on a goalie, defender, and midfielder. Already have:
