By his own admission, Cesc Fabregas had the “worst first half” against West Ham on Saturday. Certainly, when a home win for Arsenal passes by without Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points for the skipper, you know that something is wrong.

A paltry 3 point Gameweek return for Fabregas left those who had played wildcards or spent points on recruiting him, feeling rather hollow; particularly given that the he was awarded the FPL captaincy by the majority of his owners. Those who resisted the Fabregas pull meanwhile, can feel somewhat smug by his return given that he later revealed that his hamstring remains a concern.

So just how badly did Fabregas perform in relation to his peers and his own high standards?

Very soon our Members will be able to analyse weekly Opta data so that player performance can be measured on a Gameweek basis; we’re testing that functionality right now. That form of analysis immediately comes into play when examining the potential of Fabregas in the light of the West Ham showing…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Walcott starting tonight, but not guaranteed to start v Newcastle. Nasri or Arshavin have to give way before he get's 90 minutes imho.

Nah. Drop Denilson and play Nasri deeper. Surely that is the obvious setup...

Have you tried not making so many transfers? It is easier if you don't start each week on -8pts.

      To answer the question, no!!

Hello there. Who should get the armbank this weekend out of Fabregas, Nasri, Arteta, Adam, and Malouda who are my midfield five? My 3 strikers are Odemthingy, Little Pea, and Drogs but I don't think any of them warrant the captain's armband, what do people think?

      Little Pea merits consideration.

Was thinking Malouda > VdV this week but it looks like (in the same mould as Fabs) he's not guaranteed to get through 90 minutes at present.

I'm thinking Malouda > Dempsey & Bos > Vidic this week; and Dempsey > VdV for the midweek gw. Only thinking mind you at present 🙂

I think you should keep Malouda Columbo.

He has VERY good fixtures after this week and him and the drog tend to score more points when Fat Frank is around

I take your point Cheggers - perhaps Nani out then, but I want to do Bos > Vidic as well. Ferdinand was considered but he's pricey enough and doesn't offer the same set-piece threat and bonus point attraction as Vidic.

Yeah was thinking Little Pea but favouring Arteta at the moment. Blackpool were shaky at the back against 9 men on Monday night!

Be careful of getting rid of Malouda, he's got two good fixtures in GW 12 and 13 - I'm thinking of benching him this week and then ditching him from GW 14 when his fixtures get tougher. I've noticed he doesn't do as well against tougher opposition.

The irony is I rate Adam Johnson just as highly and they are effectively competing for the same spot. Silva is winning that particular battle hands down at present though.....

If Walcott starts I dont see Arshavin dropped but Nasri moved back.
Wenger I read in the paper was talking at length regarding Walcott almost being ready to play centrally and he intends to play him there longterm. He was talking about how much Walcotts finishing has improved.
If he was coming off the wing to central position like he did in Carling cup he could be on for big points haul this sunday.

How is Ibra over hyped? Doesnt everybody in British football not rate him and dismiss his time in Italy and Barcelona.

I think he is under rated but lazy 😉

geezers, without Nani my team for the weekend is looking like

    Foster (Hahnemann)
    Elmo, Coleman, Dann (Alex, Tamas)
Malouda, Fabregas (c), Brunt, Bale (Nani)
    Drogba, Carroll, Berbatov

Ive no transfers left and only 0.3 in the bank. Are any 4 pointers worth making? I guess it all depends on whether Malouda, Fabs and Bale are likely to make it?

I would play him but chances of a clean sheet against Liverpool at Anfield are slim, but would you play him over Coleman?

Very similar to my team Vern with the exception of one or two. I'm holding off any transfers this GW I think and take two free transfers into GW12 to regig.

      Foster
      Dann Coleman Samba Elmohamady
      Fabregas(C) Bale Brunt
      Drogba Carroll Hernandez

      Hahnemann Albrighton Konchesky Nani

poor pablo. jara's challenge was inexcusable (even though varney was clearly going to score a back heel from the corner flag so the challenge had to be made 😉 ). but i don't think jara would have made that challlenge if pablo hadn't have been sent off

Dunno, but I thought he was decent.

Ibanez should have been sent off, as should Jara. Astonished that the FA overturned it, I thought that they would back the young ref to the hilt.

Well since his decison was wrong...a red card for a pen where there was numbers back was a joke.

I thought it would be a pen and no card.

          Numbers back = jara

And Jara wasn't exactly close anyway. All he could have done was hack down DJ Campbell himself.

Although I guess it wasn't a goal scoring opportunity in all honesty. DJ was NEVER going to score!!

For the first time I'm finding it hard to pick players to bench.

    Defenders:
Hangeland, Dann, O' Shea, Baines and Elmohamady

    Midfielders:
    Fabregas, Malouda, Dempsey, Nolan, Adam

I'm probably going to play the five midfielders and bench two defenders. But who??

It's true but that's because of Politics. He's been this good for two years now, but he never gets a long run of games no matter how good he does.

This year United have no choice but to play him, and his talent is even clearer with Rooney injured. There's no one left to steal the spotlight away from Nani this season
