I’m fairly certain that many Fantasy managers will be eyeing up David Silva for Manchester City’s final match of the season, against Southampton, writes JK. But for some money will be a stumbling block to bringing in the Spaniard. For those low on funds I present to you an unlikely points scoring machine James Milner.
Although Silva’ teammate has not been a popular pick since his Aston Villa days, Milner has tended to deliver when he’s had an extended run of games in the team, and recently that has been the case. He has started all of the last three and scored in the last two.
In fact, Milner has scored in three of his last six starts and in five of his last 10 appearances. When you consider that two of those 10 appearances totalled 13 minutes combined that stat becomes more impressive
Milner appears to have been trusted by his manager more this season than at any other time during his City career, even playing as a false nine when City had no fit strikers.
Members can see how impressive Milner has been in recent weeks through this table I have created, which shows that Milner is matching Silva in virtually every key area. Doosra’s excellent midfielders table also backs this up. A further glance at Milner’s numbers show us that he is having his best ever season at City, and has started 15 games, returning at least an assist in seven of them, so almost a 50% record.
The final thing to note is that Milner is on corners from the left, when on the pitch and on the right when Kolarov or Nasri are not on the pitch, plus the odd free kick.
To conclude I believe that if you want an extra City player this week and, either can’t afford Silva or fancy a differential, then James Milner is your man.
