By his own admission, Cesc Fabregas had the “worst first half” against West Ham on Saturday. Certainly, when a home win for Arsenal passes by without Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points for the skipper, you know that something is wrong.

A paltry 3 point Gameweek return for Fabregas left those who had played wildcards or spent points on recruiting him, feeling rather hollow; particularly given that the he was awarded the FPL captaincy by the majority of his owners. Those who resisted the Fabregas pull meanwhile, can feel somewhat smug by his return given that he later revealed that his hamstring remains a concern.

So just how badly did Fabregas perform in relation to his peers and his own high standards?

Very soon our Members will be able to analyse weekly Opta data so that player performance can be measured on a Gameweek basis; we’re testing that functionality right now. That form of analysis immediately comes into play when examining the potential of Fabregas in the light of the West Ham showing…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Foster
    Konchesky Hughes Elmohamady Shawcross
    Fabregas (c) Malouda Adam Barton
    Drogba Carroll
    Subs: Krul Nani Tevez Jara

Taking a 4 point hit this week...
    Tevez, Jara => Hernandez/Elmander, Vidic

Hernandez has the form, but Elmander is cheap which would give me flexibility for future transfers (Shawcross => Alex maybe next week). Also Elmander's not a rotation risk.

    Any thoughts?

As I have been saying Cassilas is the weak link in this Real team.

    Dbronaldo says:
    November 3 at 8:23 pm
Cassilas with a another terrible decison. How he is always mentioned amongst the worlds best I cant understand.

Mixing up actual ability with the size of club they play for

ah.... he had a dam good world cup, and a dam good career, some of his saves have been out of this world, all keepers mistakes (see van der sar couple of weeks ago)

cassilas is mentioned among the best because of his agility, flexibility, positioning, KICK OUTS (hes been finding ronaldos feet every time), awareness etc..

      hes a sensational keeper!

maybe but to say hes been mixed up with the club seems excessive

real have a poor defence (in comparison with the rest of the 11 of course) and still kept a clean sheet in champs league till now and have being so in la liga too.

down to him in no small part i think

Please go and actuall watch real play.

Mourinho has Real so discipined that Iker doesnt actually do much.
There defence and midfield screen is great and he has nothing to do even in comparison with other Real teams over the years

What complete nonsense saying its "down to him in no small part"

Please give examples of how Cassilas has allowed Real to keep cleansheets this year.

Its down to there younger, fitter and more aggressive team working hard under Mourinho and keeping possesion for such long periods that the opposition doesnt get many chances

Ah well firstly he was at fault in the World Cup- Terrible in the Swiss game.

Secondly his career has a lowlights reel of mistakes in loads of matches, He does pull off the odd camera save but as a pure top notch goalie I dont rate him and Ive been watching him for his entire career.

He is very lucky to be at Real, I suppose you dont remember the peroid of form he went through last season and end of previous season where his form was so bad Revista de la Liga did a clip show showing how bad he had got and how mistakes he had made.
It was the first time anybody had actually noted the mistakes he made which was because they occured all in one go rather than every second game as usual.

He has also been extremly lucky to gain the Spain and Real jersey when at the time where he would have a fight on his hands (2002) and actually a sub for both sides his main rival got injured.

How can you say Casillas is not one of the best?
Look at how long he has represented on of the best team in the world.
Look at who he keeps out of the Spanish Team
Look at his record, What was it 2 goals conceded in winning WC? 1 goal conceded in CL this year?
All of the above mentioned by Swiss

I can say it as Ive actually watched him play rather than just thinking he must be decent cos he plays for Real.

He was a sub for Real during there great team behind the adequate Sanchez.Only then getting game time due to injury.

He was also a sub for Spain and only got his place cos Canizares dropped a bottle of foam on his foot.

Then Spain had literally nobody else to challenge him for the best part of 3 years.

It helps him also that he is abit of a politian in the dressing room of both teams which obviously gives him more autority than his performances deserve.
Reina and Valdes haven been better than him for at least 2 years.

Casillas is THE reason Madrid last won the title, he was literally unbeatable that season, he has won every honour there is, including captaining Spain to the World cup, where he made a crucial penalty save.

You are so misinformed its untrue, phenomenal keeper.

Everybody makes mistakes, I once saw Alan Shearer miss a penalty ffs

Again mistaking honours won with actual ability.

Real last won the title under Capello due to Capello getting the Brazilians , The Spainish and the other Foreigners to bond and gel and actually talk. It was widely reported at the time that half the team werent talking until Capello had a clear he air talk in the Spring upon which they went on a unbeaten run to pip Barca to the title

If you want to pick out one player who won them the league It was down Ruud Van Nistlerooy mainly.

So no nothing to do with Cassilas being "THE reason"

Your knowledge of Spanish football is misguided.

Casillas is the only truly great keeper since Schmeichel.

Its not confusing honours with ability. For ability in no small part = honours

There should not be a poll until after the midweek games. Too many trigger-happy people here

Mourinho starting to make his mark on Real Madrid, 10 players surrounding the referee at every decision. That is one aspect of Chelsea that is far more likeable since he left, they cut down on that.

Yeah, see, that is why I chose 'cut down on' rather than 'stopped'!

Yeah, to be fair that was a pretty outrageous (or from my point of view hilarious) match...
