Fantasy Football Scout memberships for 2015/16 are now available for the pre-season price of just £12.50.

Last season’s memberships expired back on Monday June 1 but you can now renew to get access to the members area.

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

Payments can be made through Paypal or via Stripe using debit or credit cards.

For the second season running, we’re very proud to have helped the Fantasy Premier League champion to the crown. This season’s winner, Simon March, aka “Dufflinks” was a full member of the site – as was Tom Fenley the season before. We hope that our members area goes on aiding FPL managers and will be hoping for a third champion from the 2015/16 season.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

We’re hugely grateful for the support shown by our members each season. This has enabled us to maintain the site, grow our team and develop further.

We currently have a full responsive design in development which we are looking to roll out before the start of the new season, while we’re also currently working on the latest feature for members and a revised season ticker tool. Again, we’re looking to have both available prior to the new season and we’ll bring you more on those in the coming weeks.

If you’ve any feedback or suggestions of content that you’d like to see added to the members area, then please feel free to drop me a line at support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Oooooo! Your just the guy I wanted to speak to!

When does the Sky game usually get released? I've done it the past two seasons, but only made a team and I'm looking to have a real go at it this year. I'll be reading all your articles on it but do you have any other links for good tips for the game?

Its always the first game released and came out late June last season so we should have long to wait. Which is great!

You can take a look at my article i wrote for Sky last season:

Thank you very much! Just what I was after!

And I seen you post before about how you have a lot of potential to win money playing the Sky game, in loads of different leagues. How does this work and what are the best leagues to join?

Well there are three main ways:

            1. like and follow Skys Facebook page, people post there cash leagues (done through sky bet) on there - look out for ones with lots of people and money.

            2. Sky them selves run four major cash leagues £2, £5, £10 and £20 join all four and they have lots of entrants and the pots are about £3000 each, top four paid - i came 2nd in two and 3rd in the other two this season.

            3. join the free advertised leagues on there pages - Fantasy football club etc - thya have cash prizes

Amazing! Thank you! Still trying to get my head around this captain stuff! Think I gather how it works. It's not ideal to ever punt on a captain is it?

Sure you can punt on captains but just make sure you dont have to waste transfers swapping them.

Captain plays Sunday then again next Saturday. Use a swap to a Sunday captain who then plays on Saturday. etc etc

Doesn't matter who the player is punt or otherwise if you think they will do well

But you never get the chance, like in FPL, to change your mind on captains for free do you? If you ever want to change a captain you'd have to use it up, wouldn't you?

Just thinking back over the season and I suddenly remembered to check in on this prediction I made:

    http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/09/15/this-much-we-know-gameweek-4-2/?hc_page=7#hc_comment_8292776

I predicted Baines would slump from 170 points per season to 130. This was because of a serious downturn in defensive solidity under Bobby. The final score for Baines: 139 points. Not bad.

In the first half of the season, Everton kept 3 cleanies, exactly on track for my prediction of 6. Then it goes pear-shaped. Martinez turned things around, and they kept another six in the second half but Baines lost his pens to compensate.

So I was right, but with the wrong workings? Partial credit? 😉

I also said Baines was not a must have earlier in the season, which was controversial at the time. I did own him for 1 or 2 easy games, but only bought him because I could net get Ivan (as I already had 3 Chelsea).

He did go on a mad spree for a few games, and if you owned him for that, you did well. But quite a few people got burned owning him for long periods, expecting the returns of previous seasons.

It'll be really interesting to see what happens to the Everton defence next season, without the poison of Europa. Martinez seems to have found a bit of a balance now so clean sheets could be back on the menu. But Baines appears to be off penalties for some reason, so he'd be relying on assists. Unless he's re-priced by FPL he doesn't seem to be worth owning again. He's also not getting any younger and his time spent injured is increasing every season.

I remember you making a few posts talking about how Everton were defensively poor last season and only Howard's heroics stopped their defenders being duff assets, nice work.

How did the Welbeck > Falcao prediction work out? On holiday at the moment so too lazy to check 🙂

Everyone seems to be kindly ignoring the point that I only got the right(ish) answer because Baines lost pens 😀

Good point about Falcao and Welbeck. Welbz got twice as many goals in all comps as Falcao (8 to 4) so I'll call that one a win 😀 Go me! And I'm so sure my Holtby prediction will have come true as well that I don't even need to check that one - that's three out of three. What a season!

                Still a hit-loving machine I see 😉

This season didn't exactly endear itself to taking hits to build TV etc. I love preseason. Lots of random topics are discussed until the cows come home!

Funnily enough, that wasn't what I was doing this time. I was relatively restrained for a time early on and did fairly well out of it. But then I just lost it. I had a really horrendous period where I had something like two injuries or suspensions per week for weeks and weeks and I responded very badly to it.

I do - as always - intend to be more restrained this coming season. I've shown myself I can do it for a short time so perhaps I can see it through this time 🙂

I only took 5 hits all season 😯

And there I was saying I'd do transfers earlier to build more TV etc, but of course I didn't lol. Luckily the changes to the price rises and the emergence of cheap reliable options meant my low TV didn't compromise me at all. I did find the season incredibly dull though as I never seemed to have a transfer I needed to do (so ended up doing stupid things like selling Costa in GW3 because I didn't want to burn a transfer.....)

You certainly had a rough stretch at Christmas time! Too early for the Jan WC to be of much use either.

I have to say getting the team mostly right in GW1 is an enormous help!

That was a great season for you. Good start, sure, but really consistent throughout. Shame you didn't quite squeeze into 1K.

The only concession I made to TV this season was early transfers before the Jan WC. I expect I'll do the same this season; I think it only bit me once which is a perfectly acceptable risk.

re: not wanting to burn transfers

I played 9 goalkeepers this season for a combined 143 points. Mignolet, Heaton and Fabianski would have all been better pick and stick options and I had none of them.

Arsenal/United fans, would you take either Higuain or Jackson Martinez for £30-35m or do you think Benteke is good value at £32.5m or are none of them worth the investment?

There's something I like about Higuain although if I'm being honest I've not seen a great deal of him - his scoring record seems decent though.

Don't know much about Martinez and not convinced by Benteke at a bigger club.

I'm not convinced by any of them. Benteke lacks mobility, Higuain is a good finisher but his all round game might not be up to scratch, and Jackson Martinez is doing well in a poor league - I think he might flop. He'll be 29 in October, I don't think he's good enough to command that sort of fee.

The destination Benzema chooses, if in England, will have a huge impact.

He's like a better version of Giroud, really excellent player. I think he'd really shine when out of the shadow of Real's superstars (not that he does badly at all at Madrid).

Think Higuain is the best of those and then there's not much in it between Benteke and Jackson. Benteke is proven but he's also more one dimensional whereas Jackson is a risk but has more potential as an all round player imo.

        1. Somalion
          • 15 Years

I would probably agree, Higuain the best of the lot. Benteke has age on his side, and proven PL ability is very important imo, of course some don't need it but it helps. Jackson, I just don't know about. He has never played at the level of Higuain or Tekkers, his highest being in the Portuguese leagues. You're right, he is a risk, but at 28 I don't know how much potential there is.

The way van Gaal likes to play i'd prefer it if we developed Wilson rather than spent £30m+ on a forward. We saw with Falcao & van Persie(and Rooney to some extent) how even top class forwards struggle under him.

Quite good; probably not enough to lead the line for Arsenal or United but could do well at Liverpool considering Sturridge is always injured. That wasn't a dig btw.

He's good, but not sure he's good enough for a title winning side.

Thinking about this, there is a real dearth of top quality strikers. No chance of anyone here getting Suarez, Ibrahimovic or Lewandowksi, Aguero and Costa are already here, who else is there?

Never been convinced by Cavani, Benzema is class but will need replacing. Who could Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool realistically get? Players like Bacca, Benteke and Martinez might be the best they can do.

I don't rate him that highly. I'm sort of going on the idea that Giroud isn't good enough for a title winning side. Maybe not, but who is? Is Mandzukic really even an upgrade? I'm not sure.

The problem is pundits seem to think there are loads of good strikers around (same with centre backs). If Arsenal could get Benzema, then great, but there's a danger of spending £30m on someone not even as good as Giroud.

Even the best strikers are struggling - Falcao was a world beater 2 years ago.

Or better in some areas and worse in others.

It's easy to get someone faster than Giroud, but not to get someone better in the air or goals from pouncing runs to the near post, or hold-up play.

People are too hard on Giroud. I like him.

I like him too. He's obviously not Suarez/Aguero, but he does a very good job for Arsenal, he's great at bringing their midfielders into play. People lament that "oh look at Arsenal's past - Henry, Bergkamp, Van Persie - what a downgrade!" Alright then, go out and pick up an Henry or Bergkamp.

Who exactly is Wenger meant to buy?

There's a cult of the star player these days, those messianic geniuses like Lionel Messi or Ronaldo.

Football is a team sport, and winning teams coalesce around the strengths of their players what are better and worse in different ways.

Neither Messi nor Ronaldo plays for Germany. Neymar doesn't either, and look how that turned out.

Indeed, Germany show the power of a unit more than anyone. Obviously having Messi is a ridiculous advantage, but he isn't exactly growing on trees.

Benzema or Lewandowski. The only two I can think of who do all that Giroud does, plus all that fans want him to do and he does not. I wouldn't say no to Neymar either. Also, if there was a skill-replica of Suarez, with a better personality, I would take that too.

Mandzukic is like a more midfieldish, less technical version of Giroud. And if you don't like Giroud's shooting, don't take look at Mandzukic's. Don't get me wrong, I like Mandzukic, I like him a lot. But this is the fact of what kind of player he is.

As Beavis said before, Madrid would have to get someone like Aguero before selling Benzema, so I can't see him leaving.

Personally, if I was Ronaldo or Bale, I wouldn't be delighted to hear that Benzema is gone and now I play with Aguero. Nor would I be happy as their manager to hear that I have to play a team with Bale-Aguero-Ronaldo upfront and James-Kroos-Modric behind them baked up by a super gun-ho defence. But at Real, that's just how things work, so there's some likelihood in all this. I also can't see both Bale and Benzy staying if Aguero comes, but would see it more likely for Bale (the scapegoat) than Benzy to be sold. Benzema is essential for that team's functioning and Aguero is not the right kind of player to replace him. Hard to say who would be... Lewandowski maybe.

top 3 def mids Busquets, Matic, Mascherano

If true, then that is just extraordinary.

I'd rather all the regionals just abandoned it and set up their own world body, just leave FIFA to wither. That would be far more humiliating.

Okay, they need just a couple of top defenders, and Pogba, but then you'd agree they'd realistically be title contenders, right?

always thought this was way off the mark

goes a long way to prove the theory that sometimes journalists just make up stories!

May seem like a silly question, but what is CBI in the members stats section?

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has been talking about the potential signing of Danny Ings and the future of head coach David Moyes.

Here’s what he had to say: “Ings is not an easy signing for us, he has many offers from England. We have not spoken with his representatives for a month.
“Moyes has never hinted at the possibility of returning to England. Since he arrived he has only thought of Real Sociedad."

So, while unlikely, Ings has been contacted by foreign clubs as well.

In some respects I like this summer slowdown

Am trying to watch some of the missing episodes of Breaking Bad that I haven't recorded (damn series record stops after each season and I didn't realise at first)

Now I can watch an episode and virtually nothing has happened on here, during the season I'd miss loads.
