After stepping in as a caretaker manager following the sacking of Michael Laudrup, Garry Monk eventually guided Swansea to a 12th place finish in the 2013/14 season, and was handed the job on a permanent basis ahead of the 2014/15 campaign. The former captain went about rebuilding his squad, with Lukasz Fabianski, Federico Fernandez, Jefferson Montero, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafetimbi Gomis amongst the notable arrivals. Many of the Spanish contingent at the Liberty departed, though, with Chico Flores, Pablo Hernandez and Michu (on loan) all leaving the club, while Michel Vorm and Ben Davies joined Tottenham.

In this members article, we take a detailed look at Monk’s first full season in charge, analysing the chief goal threats and creators as the Swans recorded a record points total (56) and highest Premier League finish of eighth under the rookie manager.

      Front free looks fine. I can't quite put my finger on it but I'm not sure about the midfield. Redmond doesn't do it for me and I'd be tempted to go for Mata over Depay. Have you considered Ki as your 5.5 mid? Aside from Chelsea, he's got some decent fixtures for the first few games.

      I would suggest either get another heavy hitting defender (e.g Koscielny or Clyne), or get cheaper rotating partners in defence. Then you could potentially upgrade Kane to Costa, barring hamstring injury. Other than that, looks good :]

      I think it's further forward you're over spending. One of Pelle/Benteke can easily drop down to a Deeney/Wilson/Sakho and upgrade Ki to a Milner, Hendo, Payet etc.

      Also regardless of injury, Rooney > Costa for the first 3 GWs at least.

        Cheers. Considering either Sigurdsson or Payet. Concerned that Pelle is on fire right now though and Benteke could smash them in for Pool given half the chance, Will be glad once the seasons started and I don't have to make all these decisions to be honest!

        On second thoughts, there are a lot of Southampton players that could be involved in the goals so might take Pelle out.

    Anyone else considering going without chelski defence to start, Im seriously considering Kos over Ivan for first 4 gameweeks as I feel potential for cleansheets in Arsenals favour and offers better team balance of course Ivans history of explosive starts is the main worry

    Caulker at SOT could be interesting. I assume he'll start, and be a significant attacking threat with BP potential. Depends on price of course.

      Don't believe the hype. He was far from the goal threat anticipated last year.

      Of all the R's players last year he was the one I was most disappointed in - so prone to mental errors.

      My only concern here is Ritchie and Affelay in your midfield. Ritchie untested and I'm unsure as to how much game time Affelay will get as Arnautovic will be first choice.
