We’re trying a new approach to the ICT articles, focussing on individual teams and tactical decisions in the Gameweek gone by. Saturday’s game at the Stadium of Light saw three players -Raul Meireles, Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge- all make their first league starts of the season for Chelsea and Nicolas Anelka also played the central role of the front three for the first time this campaign.

The 2-1 win means Chelsea maintain their chase of both Manchester clubs at the top of the table and all four played a significant part in the victory. Here’s some analysis on their ICT ratings and how each of the quartet fared overall:

Tough call, both are likely to concede although Simpson is less likely and Bosingwa is more of a threat going forward. I've left Simpson on the bench and regretted it so might lean towards him.

    How's my team looking?

    Vorm
    Ward, Kompany, Bosingwa
    Dyer, Brunt, Young, Silva
    Rooney, RVP (C), Dzeko (VC)
Subs: Krul, Simpson, Moses, De Laet

    One free trade left.

    Any changes required?

Having a captain headache this week. Its between Rooney, Aguero and Silva.

    Rooney
Pros - He's on fire and I'll be at Old trafford so will get double delight if he scores
Cons - Chelsea are an unknown quantity at the moment and look to be hitting some consistency but haven't really been tested. Fergeson might play Rooney deeper as he tends to do in competitive games

    Silva
Pros - Amazing form and weak enough opposition
Comns - Might suffer in his returns if Nasri plays

    Aguero
Pros - Agaim on fire and looks a real threat. More likely than Silva to score.
    Cons - Rotation!

    What to do!

My current thinking is not to captain him. Reason being that I think having him in my team is differential enough and will be rewarded anyway if he scores big. The risks of him scoring low are just too great I think for me to give him the armband. Rooney's form is so good now that even though playing Chelsea I think it'll be Rooney for me - (and hopefully a nice haul of Baines points as a bonus).

Generally, it doesn't make sense to captain players against the best teams in the league, who have the best defensive records.

Rooney won't be my highest scoring player this week.

                I know. πŸ˜‰

In answer to your question, I still wouldn't captain Rooney. It's just wrong, I'd feel so guilty if there was a part of me (quite a large part because I love FPL so much) that was happy when Rooney scored against Chelsea.

Unless Chelsea had already won the league, then I'd consider captaining him. πŸ˜‰

I do understand, I just think you have to switch that off for FPL....

I remember being sat at Fratton Park a few years ago when Ash-hole whipped a cross in to Drogba (c) who tucked it in.

A pointless game for Pompey (always going to lose anyway) but a captain goal and an assist for me!

So in conclusion, don't captain people playing against your team or you'll get relegated and nearly go out of business; stick with Baines.

Still thinking RVP is a good choice, but I'd be so annoyed if he failed yet again. Plus he's playing in the early kick-off!

His ownership is still really low, so if he does do well then he should be a decent differential over the majority of people in your/my mini leagues.

I'd captain Dzeko out of that bunch.. He's surely the safest out of the trio this week as he was rested in the last PL game and taken off early in CL. Aguero has played a lot of games lately so I think it's Tevez & Dzeko up top in this one.

I wouldn't captain a gooner as you already have two of them and they play the first game of the GW.. I'd rather have my captain play late in the GW πŸ˜›

Next best choice after Dzeko is Petrov, he's been playing as forward as Davies if not higher and Bolton should backlash vs Norwich.

Love this stat from the Totalfpl boys for the Swansea game.

Referee for the match, Martin Atkinson, awarded the most penalties (14) and the most red cards (11) in the 2010-11 Premier League season.

Could this be Sinclair and in deed Dorran's moment to shine?

Here;s another for owners of whoever plays left mid/wing for Man City....likely to be nasri according to totalfpl

"Fulham's weak spot has been at right back this season, having conceded 40% of their shots (typical value ~ 15%) from the left side of the pitch. Samir Nasri is likely to get the nod to start at left wing and will hoping to take advantage against a weakened Fulham defence."

Moses, Enrique and either Staylor or Bos...probably Bos as both offer attacking threats and Staylor has more chance of a clean sheet.

OK, I think I'm set & safely prepared for GW5 & 6 with transfers already prepared for the next round:

          Given
          Boyota Ward Shorey
          Walcott Young M.Petrov Silva
          Rooney(c) Odemwinge Agbonlahor

Bench: Vorm, R. Taylor, Bosingwa & Meireles

I did have Dzeko & Jarvis but with Dzeko's uncertainty I think I'll go with Walcott & Agbonlahor.

Very interesting article. If sturridge was guaranteed 90 minutes, 2 out of every 3 games, he'd be worth it. However he often seems to come off after 60, and doesn't start that often. Wait and see I think.

Sturridge, given his price and team, is a bargain IF he plays. That's the risk. Can't see many folk lining up with him and a MCFC forward given their rotation policy too... too much risk!

A wait and see in my book, but the gamblers in our midst might well be rewarded...

I think his limited minutes may be due to fitness at this stage as his season has only just started.

What's the risk of Dzeko not playing this week then? I don't have Silva, I have Toure, and I'm tempted to ditch Dzeko for Graham and then beef up my midfield with either Toure or Adam to Silva and then Adam to Young next week.

          Am I mad?

          Urgh. Handbrake on the Hernandezwagon:

""Danny Welbeck's back training now. He could maybe be ready for the following week [at Stoke]. Vida's still not ready, Rafa's still not ready, Tom Cleverley will be out for another three weeks." "

I thought Holden was back from injury? Or is he just back in training?

          RMT please.
          Given
Baines (WIG), Brown (STO), Collins (NEW)
Adam (TOT), Sinclair (WBA), Eagles (NOR), Sess (STO)
Roon (CHE), RVP (BLA), Dzeko (FUL) (c)
Sub – Vorm (WBA), Moses (EVE), Simpson (AVL), De Laet (BOL)

Should I use my FT this week?
Or save it for next week? (thinking Baines–>Enrique & Sess–>Mata in GW6)

          G'day Gents...

MCFC's striker rotation means it'll be Dzeko & Tevez this w/e right??? Aguero's started their last three, time for a rest?...

Also, does anyone know if Mancini has been in the habit of revealing his team's early this season??

          Team this week:

          Vorm
          Brown, Ward, De Leat
          SWP, Young, Dilva, Arteta
          RVP, Dzeko, Suarez

          Bench: STaylor, Bos, Dyer

Alright guys, ideas about this WC team?

2.2 in back to upgrade one of dyer/moses or elsewhere next week

          Vorm/Ruddy
          Kompany/Simpson/Ward/Shawcross/Gabbidon
          A Young/Taarabt/Moses/Dyer/Silva
          Rooney/Odem/Suarez

Thought about Klasnic for a week instead of Suarez?
          Other ideas?

          Cheers

Pretty balanced, I'd keep Suarez as you never know if you have to make a forced change for next week.

Personally though I would get Mata or someone instead of Young, you need a bit of Chelsea in there.

Cheers mate, that was my other thought

              Young/Shawcross-Mata/Baines

change Baines back next week to Shawcross...

              Cheers!
