The last-minute August transfer window move to QPR seems to have offered Shaun Wright-Phillips a new lease of life. The winger cut a forlorn figure on the periphery of Roberto Mancini’s title-challenging Man City but, plucked from his Etihad Stadium nightmare by Neil Warnock, Wright-Phillips has been handed the chance to resurrect his career. Under the guidance of a manager with complete faith in his abilities, he is already making an impact at Loftus Road.

    Hi friends!
Finally fixed my caps lock (I'd spilled a load of DR Pepper on it celebrating Di Santo's first goal v QPR).
Anyway who to captain this gw?
    Aguero (EVE)
    Suarez (WLV)

he lives in heaven (Wigan) which is in England. Also Martinez once said he can play where he wants. He might have been talking about on the wing or up front but I think he meant he can play for whatever country he wants.

Downgrade BAE and Enrique. CS are becoming a waste of time (take it from someone who had the back line of Baines, Bos, Cole, Richards, K).

Get rid of De Laet and Ferguson.

Nasri is not adequate City coverage, though he should score well. Either swap him for Silva or add another City player.

    My team:

    Given, Vorm
Kompany, Bosingwa, Jose Enrique, Simpson, Hall
    Cahill, Silva, Hoolahan, Moses, Young
    Fletcher, Dzeko, Rooney

Cahill and Fletcher have to go, then I have 15.5 to spend. Got 2 free transfers. Worried not having Aguero in my team.

    A. Cahill + Fletcher > Adebayor + SWP
    B. Cahill + Fletcher + Dzeko > Aguero + SWP + Best (4 p hit)
    C. Cahill + Fletcher + Kompany > Aguero + Petrov + Brown (4 p hit)

I could be lambasted for this, but I am not going to have any Pool, Arse or Chelsea coverage going into the weekend.

Traditionally, all 3 have been a decent source of points. However, these are different times and I find them all unconvincing.

Pool - Suarez. I had him at the end of last season and found he flattered to deceive in FPL. Pool would win by 4, 5, 6 goals and he would just scrape some bonus. This is on the old BP system of course.

Chelsea - Mata. Looks a great player, but could be relying upon assists, which in itself could be relying upon Torres. He could well come good and overcome a strong Swansea side, but at 9.5, he is a big risk when you can have Silva, Nani or Young for a touch more.

Arsenal - Arteta. Tempting as he is nicely priced and could provide consistent (if not explosive) returns, but he doesn't convince me still. With his loss of pens (and some FKs to RVP) but a more advanced role, I think he is possibly a similar proposition to what he was at Everton. Perhaps with Arsenal's attacking threat, he has a better chance of points. Once again, I think the funds could go to more reliable sources.

Fundamentally, I don't feel any of their players offer value for money attacking wise. Anyone agree?

Good to see (I have Bos and A Cole BTW). I always feel people overrate coverage with teams.

As it currently stands, Manc coverage is the way to go. Consistent, reliable Cappo options that rotate and I don't feel it is chasing points.

    Dear Mr Baines,

You are FPL Gold. Nobody can provide the attacking returns that you can with the bonus of CSs. However, in what has been the most agonising FPL decision in years, I can no longer ignore your awful fixtures and my terrible MF that needs major investment.

So, as a temporary measure, your services are no longer required. I shall save 2 transfers or even spend points so you can return to my team in GW12.

    Yours,
    Corrigan

I seem to be the last remaining person on these boards who is going to hang on to Leighton.

Those who chicken out now will only be kicking themselves. Everton have traditionally made life difficult for the big boys and if they do anything there's a fair chance Baines will be involved.

Yes he's expensive but he's expensive for reason.

wow if i had baines i'd be shippin him without a moment's hesitation. awful fixtures and the cash can do wonders for further up the pitch where peeps need some big midfielders. so many decent cheap scumbag defenders this season haulin in the points. seems such an easy decision

If you haven't wildcarded and taken advantage of price increases it hardly seems worth while now. General rule if wildcarding do it on Saturday p.m. imo.

Wait to internationals if you can. Two weeks with price increasing. Did it last break, and got a team value on 103.2 now.

Yeah true I was debating it last week and sure tat was the time.. If aguero and silva stay quiet it will be a good decision not wildcarding

It might be worth a 4pt hit this week Rasher, I'm considering it, or at most an 8pt, after that it all gets a bit painful. 🙂 Good luck with your decision, off to watch the mighty Brighton take on the minnows, lets hope they don't get a lucky break down here.

don't wildcard . you'll just be kickin yourself at payin extra for these peeps when u cudda had em for cheaper a couple days ago. i wced a half-decent team on monday and still regret it. if your team looks ok now just hang onto it. you'll be thankin your lucky stars if this is another low-scoring week and even if not i'm sure your team can cope. looks quite similar to what i had

Seems like everyone is going heavy up top this year. Lots of lineups with 3 strikers over the 8.5 mark.

I feel like I'm the only one going with 2 high priced strikers and 3 pricey midfielders.

Come on, someone else jump on board the 3 high priced mids over the 3 high priced strikers club! I need to go down in flames with someone!

      Their loss.

I've gone balanced in defence, mid and uptop. There will be a week when Utd and City don't score, when there are lots of 0-0's. If Aguero, Dzeko, Rooney, RVP, Adebayor etc. don't score, many teams will be on 20pts - relying on Newcastle, Swansea etc for clean sheets that they won't get each week. It'll happen and most people here will be complaining and kneejerking GW2esque.

I am doing Roo-Aguero-Holt (soon to be Best) And Silva, Young and Mata.

Really pricey forwards over 9 (Torres, Suarez, Bent) don´t do it for me, and having a cheap forward, let me get Roo and Aguero

i bought adebayor on sat night ,obvious he was going up....
however it seems every time hes gone past 34,600 hes gone up ,this is why people are going up in 2s and 3s and sometimes 4 in a week ,
old thresholds for adebayor would have been ..
    34,600 0.1 rise
    then a further 69,200 for a 0.2 rise
    then a further 138,400 for a 0.3 rise
so for ade to go up this week its only going to take 103,800 transfers in therefore saving 138,400 transfers and leaving scope for a 4th rise which would have needed a futher 276,800!!!!!!!
