We delve into the Gameweek 3 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Up front, we assess Bournemouth, Chelsea and Liverpool’s lone forwards, whilst there’s plenty to analyse in the centre of the park, as we take a look at some standout statistics from Villa, Palace, United, West Ham and Norwich.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I think I made a mistake getting Williams over Naughton. Those Naughton creativity stats are good.

Lesson: Look at the stats more carefully before every transfer, and don't assume a player is superior based on a baseline BPS article...

I must agree, Naughton's attacking output is good. But I chose Williams for a reason, he is just so very consistent. Naughton is (probably only slightly) a rotation risk, whereas Williams is not. Swansea are unlikely to keep up this attacking football all season, and Williams will keep up his bonus.

True. Williams will probably get more minutes. May be beneficial long term...

          - and you haven't even seen the best of Williams, yet.

Whereas, this is the very best that Naughton can manage:

I remain very happy with Williams:

You guys have made me feel better 🙂

Naughton's creativity won't be this good all season, his form will vary, whereas Williams maintains high BPS all season.

That's my thinking anyway! I specifically looked for him as soon as the new BPS system seemed to indicate he could do (even) better.

Could have been worse. I looked at the stats and decided on naughton. Scout picks confirmed my decision. Last minute change to Williams as someone flagged naughtons red card history. My lesson is if in doubt go for the attacking full back!

Did the same with my WC last week. Was left kicking myself when scout predicted his runs and creativity would lead to an assist. Those bonus points hurt even more... Still think Ashley will outscore him overall though. Only just mind.

I think it's a bit of an overreaction. Don't forget the sample size is only 3 games

Could still prove correct but Williams is very consistent

Had one reply on previous page, and thank you for that. Would love to get a few more before bed.

-4 hit to do Pelle + Payet --> Costa & Westwood

Although I have 0.5m ITB, price changes would mean I have to use that next week on this transfer, and might be scuppered when I need to change my keepers (Mccarthy & Myhill).

    Pull the trigger now?

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, if it's not for Costa, I'm probably going to hold Pelle. I fancy a Chelsea player over the international break, this is just being forced now due to prices. I have Shaqiri from Stoke and am satisfied with that.

Depends how much you are going to play Payet. He's a fixture proof player in many ways considering he is on all set pieces but their next three look tricky. I started regretting getting him in my WC team but you can't argue with a player who created the most chances in the top 5 leagues last season and nearly got as many assists as the god that is Kevin De Bryune. I'm keeping him fro the moment. Get rid of Pelle though. He's terrible. Knowing fpl he'll probably net against Norwich though. He's never going to be consistent though.

Pretty much agree with every word. Whilst I do like Payet (and earmarked him for a transfer in), he is giving me benching issues.

        Sanchez Mahrez Depay Shaqiri Payet
        Aguero Gomis Pelle

        - I'm wondering if I should just sell my way out of having to choose one to bench.

Having very similar issues with him. Got rid of Sakho last week only to miss out on his assist and instead realise I have selection issues with Dimitri. Could have got the points and just transferred Sakho out due to injury and now I'm in a right pickle.

Who you thinking of replacing Payet with if you do? I've got Mane as well so its a big decision as to which goes for a premium mid like Pedro or Toure.

At the end of the day Payet is a season long player, I've just had too horrid a start to have patience in his ability!

Well I'm settled on it being a Chelsea man. Between Costa or Hazard. Both transfers are attainable with a -4.

To explain that a little better, it would either be:

              Pelle & Payet > Costa & Westwood

              or

              Pelle & Payet > 4.5 & Hazard

              or

              Pelle & Depay > Wilson & Hazard

I'm looking at Mane > Pedro

                  OR

Mane > De Bruyne if this talk of the deal going through is true.

Problem is, I only have 9.9 to spend. He's apparently gone for £59mil!

I will cry if he enters the market a 10m but at least that is the absolute max he would start at. 10.5 would be madness.

To be honest he was one of the few players I didn't really even look at stats for. Shaqiri at 7m seemed too good to turn down. If this was 18 months ago, he'd either be 9m or in every single team.

He's going to bring me out of the depths of my lowly rank in due course. What a machine. You're right, stats aren't even needed when he's 7m. Its a complete no brainer.

WC this week, as planned. And a good thing too, terrible start to the season. Too predictable??

    Rutland Ruddy
    Kolarov Muniesa Cedric Gomez Francis
    Silva Sanchez Coutinho Mahrez Ritchie
    Aguero Diouf Wilson

Lots of City, Stoke and Bourne, but the fixtures are so nice...
Could bring in Micah, Westwood, Gomis?

I know. He was the Saint's main source of crosses by a long way last game and he has Pelle's bonce to aim for so that widens the appeal. Albrighton played his usual brilliant football again against Spurs though and Bournemouth look very average at the back.

So torn! What if Payet shows as well! Tempted by bench boost but McCarthy and Williams lessen the appeal of that but you never know.

Very sadly, Bolasie was given compassionate leave due to the death of his father last week. With the greatest respect I think it may well leave him out of the team another week and players usually respond one of two ways to these things. Might play amazing to honour his father or it might be too difficult for him to focus on his game. Sako looks like a great option in the short term I think. Bolasie got lucky with assists and goals last season. People were just very keen because he played such exciting football with added skills.

Have to agree here. Bolasie strikes me as a passionate man, a family grievance could unfortunately distract him completely from his game.

I think there are too many attacking option at Palace to consider any of them.

Puncheon, Bolasie, Zaha, Mutch, Cabaye, Gayle, Sako could all fight for just 3 spots.

Its one of many reasons he was so poorly criticised at the Toon. Ashley is the only one to blame. Pardew is a great manager and has proven that at Palace. Great record so far.

    Chadli & Pelle > Pedro & Wilson (-4)

Appreciate fairly good fixtures for C&P this week...

Just conscious I can upgrade my defence by a nice round figure if I bring him in now, where as by November I will probably have .7m to upgrade my defence with!

And that's the aim of the game, guessing who will get more points! And by the way if they get the same amount of points it's far from pointless as owning Barkley would allow me to play round with £1m more!

Gave in and pushed the WC button last night. My best midfield performance so far has come from Hendo's 4 points last week. Westwood has outscored all of them (Fab, Ramsey, Theo then Payet) whilst sat on my bench! Can anyone 'beat' that?

No attacking midfield points so far!

But then I've only had 1 goal and 2 assists from my whole team over the 3 weeks so far.

              • 14 Years

Yup, Ward sat on my bench with half the score of the rest of my team combined. Scores 23, 23, 21. OR 2.5m -> 2.9m -> 3.1m.
There were less than 2.9m players in GW1!

Ah well, onwards and upwards. I underestimated Liverpool, United and City's defences so avoided them and picked many of the wrong attackers. I really thought Walcott would start. Fabregas managed to cover Hazard's points very well as i hoped he would.. Trouble is Hazard has also done sweet FA.

    Who would you bench from:

    Ayew Pedro depay mahrez toure
    Aguero Wilson gomis

I brought in Wilson for the price rises but it creates a dilemma.

    Alternatively would you recommend:

    A) depay to Sanchez (-4)
    B) depay to coutinho (-4)
    C) gomis to benteke (-4)

I want to get benteke and Sanchez by GW6 and think this is a chance to get the four points back immediately (this week)

Id take a hit because not sure both Swansea players or depay will score points as defenses are solid, so worth a hit of benteke or Sanchez as it can have immediate returns

        2. Lazarus Star
          • 12 Years

I'd say Liverpool have a better fixture than Arsenal so Gomis to Benteke or Depay to Coutinho would be the shout....the latter probably being the less risk (as Utd away and Gomis in form) but you want Benteke

          1. Gravless wonder
            • 14 Years
            10 years, 3 months ago

Coutinho would be great but the bench headache would remain. Benteke means I'd just bench depay this week and get rid of him next.
