On the back of today’s draw at Stoke, reports suggest Wayne Rooney may be sidelined “for a few weeks“ according to quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Rooney’s is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks.”

While we await further confirmation on the prognosis, the news will come as a bitter blow to the 50.1% of Fantasy managers that currently own the Man United striker. Rooney has been subject to nearly 350K transfers-in over the last four Gameweeks as he racks up the points with ridiculous ease and has rocketed in price to 12.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Norwich rolling up to Old Trafford, Rooney would be a nailed-on cert for captaincy in the showdown with Paul Lambert’s side and with Javier Hernandez also limping out of today’s Britannia clash, the likes of Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will be vying for starting positions as Fergie’s side looking to get back to winning ways.

If the news is confirmed, many may turn to the likes of Robin Van Persie- the Arsenal skipper finally began to offer Fantasy returns this afternoon with a brace against Bolton and the 3 bonus points surely set to follow. With just 5.4% of owners, the Dutchman would be a viable “differential” and has a favourable run of fixtures ahead. As does 11.3 Sergio Aguero, though the Man City forward is already owned by 39.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison.

We will follow up on this as soon as we hear any more; hopefully the next twenty-four hours will offer further clarification.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Injuries to our best players is becoming a bit of a pain. Especially in this opening run of fixtures.

            Exactly.

The amount of would-be psychics on here is unbelievable, mostly appearing AFTER the games have been played. One fella said "knew it" after Torres scored. Then he got sent off.

Well i reckoned they were good to lay when i thought Rooney was playing so needless to say without him i only felt more confident about Stoke getting a result. Oh and i haven't gone all buggu all you 🙂 I did say for most of the week that United would drop their first points today

I'm gonna keep Rooney and go a week without United coverage if he's not fit cause I don't think it will hurt me too badly. Suarez and Aguero can knock in a couple goals for me I'm hoping. I don't want to have to buy him back for 12.5 and I'll have 2 transfers next week

Yeah same. Bought him at 12.0 so the 0.1 buffer on Rooney is nice as it's no big rush to sell him.

Maybe Rooney and Moses out for Sturridge and Nani? No idea if Sturridge will be back but if he is and plays the next 3 games his £6.5m price tag will look ridiculous

                You could always consider Anelka?

I agree with transferring out Moses; I've had him since GW1 and am getting sick of the 2 point returns. I'll bench him this week for sure.

Draw at Stoke is always a decent result, especially without Vidic & Rooney.

About Nani, i planned to get him in for Theo this week, with him rising tonight, i want to do it now but it is risky with the CL game. He might not even play against Norwich!

Stoke good in their usual way, United not bad but missing Rooney badly. The game highlighted a bit to me just how important Rooney is both for starting up the United attacks and being there causing havoc when they need to finish. They're not the same without him.

Pretty good clash of styles and a fair 1-1 draw.

Walcott let us down so badly today. Could easily have another or even two more assist but most importantly that finish for his one on one made me throw up my pizza. Shouldn't even be allowed to be called a finish.

toughest decision i've had to make.. do i do rooney to aguero and walcott to nani.. leaves me with 0.0 in the bank.. will prob have to do without rooney for a while then.. my worries are both the guys i bring in could get rested/rotated.. team will be
    Vorm Ruddy
    Kompany Enrique Bosingwa Simpson Brown
    Silva Mata Nani Moses Dyer
    Aguero Adebayor Suarez

i really like that team and think i'll be able to manage without rooney.. plus i still got my wildcard if it all goes tits up

Rooney has gone from a Fantasy Football dream to quite a problem for me....maybe I am being dramatic but:

    1. Having a 12.5 player unavailable is far too much cash to tie up
    2. Getting rid of him is likely to cost you more to buy him back
    3. With a home game against Norwich surly you wanna max out the United Coverage.
    4. Then if you decide to get rid who do you replace him with? Aguero/Suarez/RVP

My head is going...think I'll just play pro evo lol 😉

Pro Evo is floppy, the lack of licences annoy me as do the awful graphics, Fifa is much, much better. Especially Fifa 12. Plus Fifa has better music.

I like the music on pro evo...it's so shite it's good lol.

Not sure what you mean about it being floppy though, cause thats what I think about FIFA....weird 🙂

As for the licenses thats an easy work around, there are plenty of cyber geeks out there who create the files.

Yeah pro evo has it's quirks, but when it comes to overall game play it beats FIFA hands down.

It's all good though, it's what you want from a game, I just think that FIFA has better marketing and looks prettier...thats about it 🙂

Don't talk about realism when you're backing PES! Ping-pong soccer mate - not a fan.

Fifa 12 will blow the socks off all competition, guaranteed.

Wasn't discussing the realism of the game play only the shooting in particular. I have played pro evo since it was winning 11 on the snes, I lave it.

Plus without pro evo FIFA wouldn't be the game it is today.

Its probably only 1 game! Keep him and make sure the rest of your squad is strong. Ideally have either Young or Nani but don't stress if you haven't. Don't waste 2 transfers taking him out and back in!

Haha, yeah I've seen a few of them. I can't judge as I'm contemplating Nasri -> Silva! Got more important decision to make though like what i am going to do with that big oaf Dzeko.

I don't think it's the same. Nasri wont keep up with Silva. Those assists in his first game were a one off, as were the 4 Dzeko goals.

Not massively logical but I'm going with Young>Nani and hoping there's a Nani bandwagon. Transfer will leave me 0.3 better off and hopefully Nani will have risen 0.2 by next week. Every 0.1 counts (just keeping my fingers crossed for no injuries).
