On the back of today’s draw at Stoke, reports suggest Wayne Rooney may be sidelined β€œfor a few weeksβ€œ according to quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Rooney’s is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks.”

While we await further confirmation on the prognosis, the news will come as a bitter blow to the 50.1% of Fantasy managers that currently own the Man United striker. Rooney has been subject to nearly 350K transfers-in over the last four Gameweeks as he racks up the points with ridiculous ease and has rocketed in price to 12.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Norwich rolling up to Old Trafford, Rooney would be a nailed-on cert for captaincy in the showdown with Paul Lambert’s side and with Javier Hernandez also limping out of today’s Britannia clash, the likes of Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will be vying for starting positions as Fergie’s side looking to get back to winning ways.

If the news is confirmed, many may turn to the likes of Robin Van Persie- the Arsenal skipper finally began to offer Fantasy returns this afternoon with a brace against Bolton and the 3 bonus points surely set to follow. With just 5.4% of owners, the Dutchman would be a viable “differential” and has a favourable run of fixtures ahead. As does 11.3 Sergio Aguero, though the Man City forward is already owned by 39.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison.

We will follow up on this as soon as we hear any more; hopefully the next twenty-four hours will offer further clarification.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

so what are people doing in terms of rooney: keeping or selling?

don't really want 12.5 mil on the bench but he might be better by next week and id rather not sell him for 12.2 and then have to buy back at like 12.4 because was planning on keeping all season. also it's kind of a waste of 2 transfers

just keep him if you think it won't hurt you too badly. I don't think I'll change anything this week. I'm well ahead of the 3rd place guy who has Nani and I don't have United coverage if Rooney isn't fit. if I get rid of Rooney to pick up Nani, I'll take a 4 point hit and I don't think it'll be worth it. But maybe Young or Nani will go crazy and I'll be screwed πŸ™ Maybe Roonpig will recover faster than expected though. I'm keeping him for sure

Keeping! Transfer him out and you'll be going to A&E for a spontaneous knee-jerk so violent it smacked you in the face.

Wait until SAF gives a more definitive verdict later on the week.

forget rooney. he'll most likely miss only one match. managers that take him out on that basis are likely to be chasing the whole season.

Young is a good player, and had a bad day at work today imo. Not sure if you should do young -> Nani.. but it might be to much to have both.. Nani is more likely to score, but young is on set pieces. I'm looking at Nasri -> Nani. But that leaves me with Kompany as only city cover..

toughest decision i’ve had to make.. do i do rooney to aguero and walcott to nani.. leaves me with 0.0 in the bank.. will prob have to do without rooney for a while then.. my worries are both the guys i bring in could get rested/rotated.. team will be
    Vorm Ruddy
    Kompany Enrique Bosingwa Simpson Brown
    Silva Mata Nani Moses Dyer
    Aguero Adebayor Suarez

i really like that team and think i’ll be able to manage without rooney.. plus i still got my wildcard if it all goes tits up.. do i do it?

This is the 3rd time you've asked Keith! Whether you do it or not, your team will be very good.

I'm not sure if Nani is nailed-on to start and Rooney may return to fitness. If it's a 4 point hit you may want to hold out.

If you can live without rooney for a few weeks then it looks good to me. If he comes back tho and does the business you'll get killed in your mini league cos everyone else will have him. Saying that not like you'll have a bad forward line.

If you thinking of transfers but you dont know what you want to do, then do nothing,
people are addicted to transfers in here πŸ™‚

Do nothing and have 2 FT's for after the international break

2 ft's after the international break does sound nice though

thanks for the advice, might consider it. I picked Kenny because I was looking at keepers 4.5 or less, he rotates well with vorm and my other options meant doubling up on one team's defense which I was trying to avoid

People who are taking out Rooney. I would do it but leave yourself a way of getting him back for the start of GW11 as their run of fixtures look fantastic. This is probably what I will do and take a punt on someone else for the next 4 GW's.

As long as Fergie doesn't 'do a Fergie' and start him V Norwich that'll be fine

Ferguson ALWAYS overstates Man Utd injury problems.

Wouldnt surprise me if Rooney's fine and he's just resting him cos he's played every game since August - for Utd and England.

Who you thinking for the next 4 GW's instead?

I don't mean dropping him instantly he still needs about 60k transfers out to drop.
I will be doing the transfer at the end of the week. I will bring in one of Drogba, RVP or Aguero after that I may well do a 4 pt hit to get in Nani for Utd Coverage.

Giggs if he's on the pitch, then Young or Nani. Young lost pens to Milner when both were at Villa, then got them back when Milner left but missed a few.

Berba could be in the mix, too, and I'd imagine Hernandez can take a decent pen.

Remember that Man utd have Liverpool (A) and Man city (H) after the Norwich game. Man utd without Rooney and maybe Hernandez (?) is not the same. That was easy to see today.. Rooney is the main engine in that team..

Also it's three weeks until the Liverpool game, I'd imagine Rooney should be good for that, he is usually ready to play sooner than expected.

It's helpful that the FPL site now finally has the players' form and value points on the transfer pages. Both quotients had been showing 0.0 for each player for the first 5 gameweeks.

Does Ba's performance have an impact on Ben Arfa's chances of starting, or the position he might play? I thought Ba plays in the second striker role that Pardew had hinted Ben Arfa would take.

Yes Ba is currently in the role that Ben Arfa will eventually take. Although I suspect if Ba continues to play well and Best has a dip in form it could be Ba as the frontman with Ben Arfa behind him.
Anyway, yes is the answer it may impact on Ben Arfa. Although HBA is so highly regarded by the staff and fans and has such potential that I dont think it will be too long before he gets a regular run.

To be honest I thought he'd just be an impact sub. With his pace he'd be a very useful one at that. But yeah, he must be doing summat right, or Marveaux is unfit or something.

usually, yes, but TFPL are not always correct. I find fiso more accurate so far this season

then after a rise, the % is reset. the new target for a second rise is much higher than the first raise target (i think it might be double ut not certain)
