The top three "big clubs" in the country are Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle....
The reason I say that is that football in Liverpool and Newcastle, as a culture, is far higher than in any other part of the country..It's not just football, it's part of who they are..and it's all about their football team/s of the their City....
Unless you have actually lived or worked in Newcastle or Liverpool it's hard to understand just how big a part of daily life it is...

We still can't attract any players though so not sure most will agree with your view these types of clubs are the biggest in the country.
