In our new series of β€œMonitor” Members articles, we turn our attentions to Matthew Etherington. The Stoke winger has been a mid-price Fantasy favourite for the past two seasons now but so far he’s yet to make any sort of impact, with just one assist to his name after six appearances.

Analysing both the OPTA and our own ICT stats, we dig deep in an attempt to ascertain just how and why he’s failed to produce the Fantasy returns so typical of those last couple of campaigns…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Decided to go with Sturridge over Suarez. Just had a "brain wave"....

    Chelsea are better than Liverpool.

Woodgate hasn't been registered for Europa-so that won't impact him. In fact, naturally any rotation will be to his advantage.

They are treating him with kid gloves in that respect but he has played whenever available. From memory he has missed one

As a Bosingwa owner i hate to see Luiz get picked. They will never keep a CS with both on the pitch. Luiz can't help but take a risk. When I watch him I wonder how he became a centre-half. uch a talented player tho...

Hard to see him nailing down a starting spot this season. He's got a huge future but he's a liability defensively and AVB has a reputation for demanding consistent no nonsense defending from his centre backs.
Imo he's the utility cover for the whole back line.

Davies definitely, then maybe Klasnic, Petrov was insanely lucky to have the chance to take that pen imo, but he is still in my team, he is dynamite down that left wing.

Aside from all that though I would keep Taarabt for one more week. He scored an awesome freekick for Morocco earlier this week and Blackburn have such an awful defence at the moment!

Definitely Davies if he's on the pitch - if not, it's between Petrov and Klasnic. I'm still doing the Taarabt to Petrov move myself, though.

You could maybe wait until after QPR play Blackburn at home before making the move.

I'd go Bosingwa, Enrique, de Laet with Simpson 1st sub - de Laet probably won't play, but I'd start him just in case, Swansea haven't scored many away from home.

      Vorm and Bos for definite.

Put DeLaet in at home to Swansea (you might as well, good fixture) but it looks as if he's out of the first team plans ATM.
Enrique...hope you didn't bench him vs Everton! The same thinking could cost you again if so...
I would play Ward over Simpson...WBA look toothless ATM

Good luck though, very tough choice!!

Wouldn't be confident in any of those defenders tbh.

Bos - Chelsea 1 clean sheet in 7 games this season but play him at home to Everton nonetheless.
De Laet - out of favour but Norwich home to Swansea, also play him.
Enrique - home to Utd, so chances are will concede but may have to play him.
Simpson - home to Spurs but Newcastle still unbeaten this season.
Ward - away at WBA and leaking goals in recent games.

Bos, Enrique, De Laet with Simpson 1st or 2nd sub - doesn't matter as if De Laet doesn't play, a defender has to subbed in, so Simpson will be him, and Ward 3rd.

Just read this on the Guardian.

'The Tevez saga comes at a bad time for Mancini, however, with Sergio Agüero almost certainly out of Saturday's game at home to Aston Villa. Agüero is hoping to return from a groin injury against Villarreal on Tuesday, though the diagnosis on Mario Balotelli is better and the back issues that forced him to withdraw from international duty with Italy will not keep him out against Villa.'

Villa have a good defence and if Aguero is out, who knows. Given may have something to prove, same with Dunne - both ex City players.

Anyway, wouldn't try to get Nani in as Utd have Liverpool(A), Man City(H), Everton(A) - hard fixtures on paper but this is Utd and so if you can, do it. If not or for a hit, don't.

Nani is a frustrating player to have and watch - like Walcott and Taarabt especially. Can do the hard stuff, tricks, dribbling = goals, assists, but sometimes does too much and not the basics - pass, cross and shoot.

Nani may occasionally be subbed/rotated with Valencia or Park. Mata and Sturridge for Malouda, Anelka and Kalou even. Would rather have Nani after GW11 as Utd's fixtures look great and Mata will adapt to the PL soon enough.

Not worth a 4 point hit, because your first sub will probably score at least 2 for you. You'll lose 4 points from the hit, so you'll need Sturridge to score 6 points just to break even.

Anyone else mildly concerned that they have attackers playing defenders this week?

ie I've got Adebayor v S Taylor and Sinclair v Ruddy.

Can't avoid it as my benched players would also cause the same issue...leaving Agbonlahor as 1st choice sub and Given on the bench too as have Kompany and Silva, and just feel you're limited points return if you play too many in the same match as realistically they can't all score well as points for one usually costs the other player points and vice versa. Plus you have the fact that it decreases your bp opportunities as only 3 players get it per match.

Seems everyone is having the same problem this week, you have to actually think about it and consider their attacking ability within their side//threat to goal and play the better ones out of that.

Damn injury clouds! I'd rather a manager just say, "yeap he's rooted, he's not going to play!" half the time i wonder if it's just a tactical approach to confuse the opposing teams plans....
I've heard on here that Brunt may be ok?
If he is i'll leave Ade in and Brunt can come in as first sub if need be, don't fancy a 4 point hit to do Brunt->Petrov.....

I transferred him out for Petrov. He seems to be struggling with his knee which might affect him throughout the season. I am not prepared to take that risk. Don't know if he plays this weekend though.

If Aguero is definately out, is Aguero out for Van Persie for 4 points hit (for the next two rounds) a stupid idea? Would transfer Aguero back in before their game against Wolves.

I currently have Aguero, Adebayor and Gabbidon who are all doubtful and my subs are Norwich Johnson, Simpson and Enrique.
