With clean sheets proving hard to come by for many teams, Goal Threat from the back is an ever-crucial facet when eyeing up Fantasy defensive options.

In this latest article for Members, we focus on defenders who have played four or more league games this season, selecting the top ten performers and, when applicable, compare their stats to last term’s in order to ascertain whether there’s been an improvement or a drop in their offensive threat…

    KRUL(Vorm)
    KOMPANY, BOSINGWA, ENRIQUE (SIMPSON, DeLaet)
    ARTETA, RAMSEY, SILVA, SWP, (Dyer)
    RVP, SUAREZ, BEST

Have not yet pulled the trigger, but thinking Nani -> Ramsey.
Like the feel of it, all 11 home games.
Also with RVP captain, that is 4 attacking players from Arsenal.

Reason am bringing in Ramsey is that I want to do following next few weeks
    GW9: No transfer
    GW10: Arteta -> Ethers, Best -> Rooney.

Love to hear the feedback ( am assuming most FAIL comments as I go with 4 arsenal attack next 2 weeks).
Taking different approach unlike last year where I took least risks and ended up at 618 rank.

Eh? You counting RVP as 2 players because he is captain?

I'm not too keen on Etherington personally. There are better options for that price. But other than that your logic seems decent enough.

Tks Epicfail. Yeah, lots of time to ponder before GW10, will have 5.9 mio at that time.
Yes, counting RVP as 2 as he is my captain.

Have 2 free trades. What do you think of the following:

    Aguero + Adebayor

    to

    RVP + 7.7 or under (Zamora/Sturridge/Someone else?)

Reckon you only need to make one trade this week, rest of your team looks solid (and you have Roondog coverage for this week).

Seems a bit pointless to trade them both out when chances are you'll want one or both back once they're recovered from their injuries.

Is it just me, or did the "My Team" layout just change? Instead of having a (H) or (A) next to a players team (under their avatar), it now has the team they are playing: EVE (H)

Is that new as of a few minutes ago, or am I crazy?

jagielka, djourou and one other went down.

I hope Moses gets a solid points haul this week just to teach everybody a lesson - In my opinion, if there's ever a time for him to do something, its at home against a leaky Bolton after an international gameweek... he has plenty of shots on goal, plenty of passes, its only a matter of time before he does something! ( ihope this weekend...)

I'm sure the main reason people bought him in the first place is to be a decent bench warmer and surely they don't expect big point hauls from him. Now that he has decent fixtures and been playing quite well opp everyone is selling him..people are fickle.

I think he will score (soon?) and then he will recoup a tenth or two quite quickly. I mean he plays right up front for crying out loud- as I remind myself that's where Torres plays- what could go wrong.? I already burned some tenths on Sess, who was a similar sure thing.. I avoided boselli last year, but heard that was a real PIA.

I don't want to be flip, but did Rooney use a knife, cause three games seems a bit harsh. Kind of a collateral message because it's Rooney??? - I didn't see the red card play, so should keep my mouth shut.

thanks for the video, my, my-- that happens about every other weekend to someone on my team and I am 63. Maybe not with heavily studded shoes or as hard as that, but wow- three games.

I'm not English, but that seems to be part of the play with some intentional "badness" by Roons of just flaling away at whatever was between his foot and the ball.

I have been watching all the Rugby World Cup games so maybe my threshold has been reset for physical contact.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on it.

As an Aussie, we see worse than that virtually every week in our domestic competion and half the time there's isn't even a free kick given (which says a bit about both the Rooney overreaction and the sh*tty officiating in the Australian comp).

Thinking of keeping Adams Cooper on my fantasy team (Fox in Australia) or maybe switching him for Quade Cooper who got like negative fantasy points against SoAfrica. I have Digby, Pocock and Horwill. He clearly isn't going for the ball - he just wants to hurt him. The intention was there, but it wasn't exactly a De Jong reducer. Shouldn't be three games.

It's bad for the tournament really. Like it or not Rooney is one of the best strikers in the world. You want to see people like him on the big stage.

So price changes has occurred and Aguero did not drop despite being on -125% on FISO. So much for rushing the transfer to avoid his price drop.

You would have kicked yourself if you hadn't and he dropped. Predicting rises and falls seems to be far more difficult this year. If he doesn't go down tonight then it really is a fix.

    OUT -- Aguero, Gabbidon, Given

But being a Spurs fan, it does not matter if Arsenal damply squibs all over themselves ...

I customised the Optas earlier on and looked at the last 3 gwks. I was really interested to see Sturridge would show up. Now I know why he is so prominent in the Watchlist. He appears in the top 5 for a lot of data and that's without playing the full 90 in each game. Those looking to bring him in have some good reliable data backing him.

The other interesting bit of data was on team shooting stats. Which 2 teams would you expect to see the leading the way over these past 2 gwks for shots on goal and goal attempts on target?

    CHS and ...Aresenal! 😯

The move to RVP and Sturridge is looking ever clearer now 🙂

      Hey, Jafalad.

Ade to Sturridge seems like a great transfer for various reasons but I'm still not convinced about brave Sir Robin. Yes, Arsenal create a lot of chances ( did you see the Blackburn game, they could have scored 8 ) but they don't score that many of them. And I seem to remember this fixture getting a similar big build up last year - then Sunderland put in a heroic defensive display and got a 0-0 draw.
Having said that though I may panic and sell Aguero for Van P tomorrow. If the rumours are to be believed ( and I doubt it ) then he may be off to Dagestan in January 😯

SUN appears a different team this year particulalry defensively. With 9 new players too, I believe they are still sorting themselves out and they are going to take time to gel. I remember SUN kept 10 cs in the first hlaf of the season or so.

The advantage of getting RVP is that you have him for at least 6 weeks and can downgrade easily to Aguero with possible some profit from any eventuating price rises.

A forward line of Sturridge, Roonpig and RVP has a great feel to it. Possibly down to the lack of rotation that you get when you invest in City or Utd.

Who is off to Dagestan....and where is it: Mongolia? 😉

Good point about SUN last year - I had Bardsley and Fabregas in my team at the same time during SUN's excellent run. Fab scored 46 and Bardsley 43 over the same number of games.

There's some talk of this nouveau-riche-mafia-gas-money Anzhi Makhaklavidia, or whatever they're called, making a bid for him. It's the same club that bought Eto'o.

I also see that Spurs are thinking about making an offer for Drogba in the January transfer window. Could it be that Ade's hamstring is a possible long-term worry?

Adebayor: my thinking is that he won't start tomorrow as it is too risky long term. However, Sturridge will play with Torres out these next two games so I see it as an opportunity to get him in and see if he continues to average 8 ppg.

Yes I had Bardsley in as well: he went from 4.3 to 5.1. I still think SUN can be a force at home. I'd rather have a 4.5 defender from SUN than QPR.

I swapped Bramble for Woodgate last week. I don't mind having an injured defender on the bench for a couple of weeks but not one who's in chokey. If Sunderland sort themselves out I can always go back to Brown but New and Stoke rotate perfectly until GW 20.

Ah good you checked to see if your 5 defenders rotated together. 😉

I was looking at Woodgate (reluctantly as he's an injury waiting to happen) earlier but it gave me a 4:1 rotation ðŸ™

A lot hinges on Aguero. If he doesn't play, do you have enough for RVP?

If you need to make two transfers, I'd look at selling one of the exp defs and upgrading the midpark for Mata or Nani next week.

Had all three main defenders from the start- So not really that expensive..
Not loving Man U's fixtures, yet when they improve RVP to Rooney or VDV to Nani isn't that hard.
Mata is the most overrated player in the league (fantasy wise) the new Deco!!
Orr is the best 3.9 defender on there, and i needed the .1 to get Silva in.
They have been, an i have never been one to expect big scores from GK's, a clean sheet is a bonus..

Not that expensive but denies you the heavy hitters where they are most needed.

Orr doesn't play so that would be 3.9 burning up your team.

Man U seem to scoring against everyone. I've learnt my lesson: Roonpig and Nani are a necessity this year.

Moses out, Ramsey or similar in.

Or Ward out, someone who doesn't play for Wolves in.

So, why does everyone keep saying VDV is a doubt? Redknapp never said he was a doubt, he played 90 for Netherlands and there is nothing on team news?

        Dont we all? 😉
"He sometimes has a problem with that Rafa," said Redknapp.

"He has had a few hamstrings since he's been with us, but he's important to us - he scores goals. He's an amazing finisher. Last season I think he got 12, this season he's capable of getting near 20 goals from playing in that position where he likes to play."
Im not gonna argue with the scouts, they say he isnt a doubt 🙂

Oh yes - and they fell out quite badly after the last match! See Darren Bent, etc. 😉

no injury for van der vaart. Just the concern that he continually pulls a hamstring (heartstring more like it)

I assume, it being Friday, that there's no scoutcast this week, but have Mark or Granny explicitly said as much?
