    First time I have had a benching headache with a strong front 8. Went well this week benching Payet and scoring 76 with Pelle(c) to go.

    Seems to be loads with Ighalo and Mahrez points on bench - just one of those things and with a strong enabler like ighalo, just have to accept it.

        For these gw's in which you had a strong front 8, if you had a strong front 7, would you have more points?

        I have a strong front 8, too, and have benched points, but I do not think a different roster configuration with Westwood as my fifth mid would have resulted in more points, just less points on the bench.

        One case was last week, where Ighalo on the bench came in handy when Theo did not start (I have since traded Theo).

          Agree mate. My thinking in the past has been to have a cheap midfielder. Last season was different as Boyd proved a threat and seemed to do well when needed, but this year Westwood gave nothing.

          Having benching options is great if you get to right. If you don't, the positive is still possible increased TV and someone to bring back in the team without making the transfer.

    Positive this week:

    Costa to Lukaku, well dont know yet how good.
    Richards to Smalling for a hit and bench Dawson. I was convinced it would pay off in 3 weeks, this week Im going to save unless surprise and Dawson has bad fixtures again and again.
    Play Mahrez and Vardy but heard a lot of benching
    Negative: Benched Butland and played Schmeichel as better cs odds.
    Kolarov why ohh why, penalty missed...
    Overall very average 49-4

      I had Kosc gw 1-8, traded him to Bellerin when he got hurt, and he then he has scored 2 goals in the last 2 gw's. Unreal. However, as he is injury prone, I would factor that into your equation. Now that they are all priced about =, I'd take Kosc.

    I don't really understand the anti-Mahrez bias.

    Comfortably the top scoring player in FPL, a mid playing the second striker with set pieces and pens.

    Are people trying to be contrary by benching or selling him?

    Or is it cooler to be anti-Mahrez?

      That's internet for you...sometimes people think going different way is cooler even if it may not be the right way. So they will find some tiny faults in the more mainstream way and repeat it so many times that they start believing in them themselves 😉

        Who would have benched Mahrez because it was 'cooler'? I benched him because I thought they wouldn't score many at all against WBA and I also have Vardy. I'm playing with 8 attackers until Aguero is back (and I drop a mid to fund i)t, one of the mids had to be benched this week and I got it wrong - not for the first time or the last. The guy that is the top flayer in the FPL Hall of Fame benched him too - doubt he does things like that just to be cool...

        But my opinion pre gameweek was that benching him was a bad call, I suppose you could call that foresight.

              Just the way the cookie crumbles. They were logical moves for me.
              You see you're applying your circumstances to everyone elses team. What was a bad benching call for you was good benching call for other people.

                I don't really agree.

                Answering comments under peoples team I gave my opinion that I couldn't be doing the 8 attacker benching headache each week and I definitely wouldn't bench Mahrez.

                Obviously I'm committing to playing him fixed as a fourth mid but I really rate him as a player.

                Seems whichever way it has gone recently people have benched points, then out comes the old I'd rather have been points than not which is really a nothing statement because bench points don't count unless you use the boost.

                  Well, if he's on your bench it makes it a little easier to get him into the team the following week without using a transfer. And you benefit from the inevitable price rises. Of course it's better to at least own the player than not.

                      There's arguments both ways. You have cash in the bank and Westwood's inevitable 2 points waiting on the bench if one of your player's doesn't play. Others have spent the money on a better rotated bench player that would hopefully return more than 2 points when called upon.

      People benched him because these were the best set of fixtures this season and Leicester had what looked like a tough defensive game.
