Having spent the season clutching to the coattails of both Granville and Jonty, finally, like a magnificent phoenix rising from the flames, I’ve caught and surpassed them both.

In truth, my season is anything but “magnificent” and the recent struggles of my ScoutCast co-hosts, as they plunge to my depths, is the main reason behind the recent mini-league manoeuvrings.

With a level playing field established, the three of us skim through another set of “Rough with the Smooth” Gameweek tales from the community, before bracing ourselves for another batch of topics steered by your good selves.

You have us talking Sanchez exit plans, discussing the “desperate” route back to Hazard and contemplating Christmas rearguards. Plus we’ve a couple of old ScoutCast favourites who, like my season, rise up from the ashes to discover a new lease of life.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first aired via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. You can view the full Google Hangout version via the larger player below, or treat yourself to the more cultured audio cut via this link or the smaller player below.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for updates on new episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So with Arsenal injuries, it looks as though Theo is due a decent nailed run once he's back. Surely the writing is on the wall: he's going to have a mental 10 games before getting injured again. Who's on board?

To sum up the press conference:

Walcott + Koscielny are a maybe for the weekend - being assessed tomorrow
Sanchez + Cazorla - Doesn't know how long they're out for
Ramsey - It's a possibility he could play centrally, it's his favoured position.

Maybe not. He's not fatigued and Debuchy is poor. Wenger does have a tendency to play his best available team in the Prem League as well. He needs a win and Bellerin's pace on the wing will be needed to break down Big Sam's Big Bus.

Rumours are that Chambers is being primed for a central role. Not sure whether that is alongside Flamini or instead of.

I think "OOP" is always a bit misleading when it's a defender moving into a CDM role - I consider it less attacking than a fullback position.

Bellerin rested is a pile of old nonsense.

          Debuchy is completely crap.

French international right back to complete bench fodder in the blink of an eye.

Bellerin is good though, very good, dare I say Barca good.

Chambers completed 90 minutes for U21's on Monday. Granted it is against Brighton and Hove but it definitely shows he is being groomed for the position.

"Steve Gatting hailed Calum Chambers' “excellent” performance after Arsenal Under-21s’ 2-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday.

Chambers played the full 90 minutes in central midfield, gaining more experience in the role ahead of the first team’s busy Christmas period, and helped Gatting’s side come from a goal behind to claim all three points at The Amex."

He didn't really go into it to be honest.

He was asked if Aaron would move centrally and replied "It's a possibility".

They then probed with would it be a good opportunity? He replied something like "it would be a good opportunity if he plays there, it's his favourite position to play"

I doubt he'll go missing. One of his best attributes this season has been taking responsibility and delivering when the team as a whole weren't doing a lot. In previous years he's only been at his best when the team has been on top form but this year he's often been the one to step up

    Posted this the other night..

I'm flying over to London tomorrow to see Arsenal. The only other three games I have been at in the Emirates..

    Arsenal 2-0 Southampton (Giroud brace)

    Arsenal 4-1 Newcastle (Giroud brace)

Arsenal 4-1 Liverpool (Giroud goal) (Ozil also got a goal + assist in this one)

If you have Giroud, armband him! 😉

Worth doing Ayew (1st sub) > Coutinho for -4 and bench Mahrez ?
    Got Firmino and Vardy starting

Would you do same transfer next week ?

Possibly. Liverpool have a lot of attacking options and europa league next week.

          Might be some rotation.

Would love to have one of the brazillians, but not sure on both.

Dont like Mahrez on bench at all but think my other 4 mids have better fixtures and I have Vardy for Lei cover? thoughts?

    Butland

    Moreno VVD Toby

    KDB Willian Mane(c) Ozil

    Vardy Aguero Lakuku

    Bench: Hennessy, Mahrez, Ward Staylor

    Benching dilemma - please help.

    DDG (Hennessey)

    Kolarov, Moreno, Monreal (Dier, Francis)

    Ozil, Barkley, KDB, Mane (Mahrez)

    Vardy, Lukaku, Ighalo

Shall I use my other FT to finally switch Francis for a better 5th defender and then play bench boost? Otherwise I'll be looking to bench Mahrez and that has really stung me before.

No....his stats are unsustainable ...I own him and he is a 'don't bench , don't captain' this week

Why are they? People were saying that about Vardy 4/5 weeks ago.

They actually weren't. Sure people were saying "he can't keep this up surely" etc but in terms of stats a few people posted and wrote articles showing that his conversion rate actually wasn't fantastic he was just having lots of shots which is more sustainable than say someone like Martial who was converting a lot but not getting many chances.

            1. Still Unsure
                10 years, 16 days ago

That's fair. I guess I was refering more to stats in terms of returns, as opposed to deeper numbers.

It was one of the reasons I didn't want to necessarily bring Ozil in but in the end price changes were killing me.
