Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla are sidelined with injuries picked up at Norwich last weekend. Watford will make a late decision on Heurelho Gomes’ fitness, Micah Richards is a concern for Villa, whilst West Ham’s Diafra Sakho is set for a period on the sidelines.

Earlier this morning, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Theo Walcott and Laurent Koscielny might be ready to return for the visit of Sunderland – both face late assessments tomorrow. The Gunners boss admitted he was uncertain over Alexis Sanchez’ likely return date, though Santi Cazorla could be sidelined until March. Kieran Gibbs is back for the Gunners after missing the trip to Carrow Road with a calf complaint.

Micah Richards is a big doubt for Villa’s trip to Southampton – he’s hardly trained all week due to a knee problem. Gabby Agbonlahor is back in training whilst both Jose Angel Crespo and Tiago Ilori are still sidelined. Remi Garde has confirmed that Jack Grealish remains unavailable for first-team selection due to recent off-field issues. Elsewhere, Ciaran Clark serves a one-match suspension after earning a fifth yellow card of the season last weekend.

Slaven Bilic has conceded that the Hammers are set to be without Diafra Sakho for “a few games, definitely” after the Senegal international sustained a thigh injury during last week’s draw against West Brom.

Jermain Defoe and Seb Larsson have both been ruled out of Sunderland’s trip to Arsenal, Sam Allardyce confirmed yesterday. Jack Rodwell is also unavailable for the Emirates encounter due to a hamstring problem.

Tony Pulis has revealed that West Brom will assess “one or two knocks and niggles” ahead of their home clash with Spurs. Claudio Jacob sits this one out through suspension, though Chris Brunt is back in contention after serving a one-match ban.

Ryan Mason has been ruled out with an ankle injury for Spurs’ trip to the Hawthorns. Dele Alli is available again after serving a one-match ban, whilst Nabil Bentaleb and Nacer Chadli are close to returning to training.

Swansea left-back Franck Tabanou is the only absentee ahead of their Liberty encounter with Leicester.

Quique Sanchez Flores will make a late assessment on Heurelho Gomes’ fitness after the keeper was forced off with a head knock last week. Valon Behrami remains sidelined for the Hornets, whilst Adlene Guedioura is expected to shrug off a minor knock. Sebastian Prodl has returned to training but will not be available in time for the visit of Norwich.

Alex Tettey has recovered from injury and has been passed fit for Norwich’s trip to Vicarage Road.

Leicester’s Ritchie de Laet has been ruled out for a month with an ankle injury sustained in training. Matty James stepped up his recovery from a long-term knee injury with a midweek run out for the reserves but is likely to miss out due to a lack of match fitness.

Cheick Tiote and Jamaal Lascelles are both unavailable for Newcastle’s home clash with Arsenal. Mike Williamson – who was recalled from a loan spell at Wolves to cover for Lascelles – has picked up a hamstring injury in training and is also ruled out.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Also who would you sacrifice for Kane next week? Ighalo or Vardy

The morning after the night before....I was in the mood for a punt, so I went Sanchez -> Hazard last night. I already own Ozil, KDB, Mahrez, Alli - and there wasn't a clearcut dullard option. Pool's team look great, but team selection needs to settle down a bit.

Now what's got into me, I've started looking at Haz (c)... anyone else, or have a really lost the plot?

I have also pondered putting Hazard in but am unsure as his return has been awful this season. I think Liverpool will score loads against Newcastle. If Coutinho is back, he would be the better option

Front three are Kane, Lukaku, Vardy, and with Ozil and KDB I'm not short of options for the armband, so it really would be illogical to go with Haz.

Imo putting the (c) on Hazard is just such a risk. the games he played lately are poor compared too last season and I don't know why all off a sudden he would start too play much better I think it will come but not all of a sudden I'm going to wait some more games to moniter him.
It's a good shout but i don't think he will get a brace

Hazard's form goes in long spells - I remember this in previous seasons (don't ask me to back this up with stats!). He can be out of form for 5-10 weeks, and then hit form for 10-20 weeks. He's great for fpl because he's consistent.

If people were told that someone was averaging a goal every time they played and not only the player but the team was in the form of their life, you'd of thought that he would be captained most if not every week. Maybe this is why Sharon is doing so well and we are not. Vardy (C) for me and I feel it's going to be a differential on here.

I think the reason people aren't captaining Vardy is the same as the reason people are getting in Hazard.

They (myself included re: Vardy) continue to be proven wrong!

Are the gunners going to cope without Coq and Caz in the middle? Flamini and Ramsey makes them a lot weaker in terms of defensive resolve and creativity imo. Hopefully Ramsey will start scoring again to make up for not having Caz in there pulling the strings.

Those considering getting Hazard in... Why?

You should all know by now that what we perceive to be a good run of fixtures will not automatically equate to a drastic change in form and huge point hauls.

"Oh, Chelsea are at home to rock-bottom Villa, who are awful and conceding lots of goals... Surely this is the week Chelsea turn the corner and start playing well..."

A dull 2-0 win, just an 8-minute cameo from Hazard bringing home one point...

"Okay now, Chelsea are at home to Norwich this week... They even conceded SIX away at Newcastle! SURELY this is the week Chelsea turn the corner, Hazard played well against Stoke!"

A dull 1-0 win, 90 minutes this time, but no involvement from Hazard.

Don't believe that just because it's Hazard, and just because they have good fixtures that all of a sudden they'll turn it around and start smashing it.

Much better options out there, without even considering price!

There are some promising signs. Chelsea are up to mid table in terms of goal attempts (they were bottom for most of the season). Also Hazard is now considered an assist imminent in terms of an upturn in chance creation. First time he's been on that list. Also the recent stoke game saw signs of more attacking threat from him.

I agree its a punt but there are credible signs there...currently though that's all they are and in comparison to Ozil, Coutinho, Barkley, Mahrez and Mane he still has some way to go to compete.

We know his pedigree though so I think those taking a punt are justified, personally I think there are better options.

Up to mid-table in goal attempts also means that there are 9 teams above them 😀

I agreed he played well at Stoke, I imagine owners would have been hopeful of a decent return at home to Norwich, but to no avail.

Yes he does have previous, we know how good he can be.

But for me, it's just a wild punt at the moment...

He has a good couple of fixtures and folks are used to trusting him thanks to previous seasons. I can understand it and I think Bournemouth in particular are a team Chelsea can score against.

But I wouldn't be in for him, been burned enough this season by players "about to explode" and there's no room in my midfield anyway.

Because FPL is all about forecasting.

At one stage this season today's good options Coutinho & Barkley weren't really options at all.

At one stage Harry Kane was a busted flush who could only do it for one season.

For me I have KDB & Özil & Mahrez. I own the two obvious heavyweight replacements.

Hazard feels a chance worth taking.

People have dismissed his three seasons of success to look at the sample size of this season.

Coutinho & Barkley don't genuinely excited me.

Hazard does, and against Bournemouth he's up against one truly awful defence. Forecasting, based on the fixture and the hope that this premium assert returns to where we want to see

Bournemouth at home this week .He has Monday night football next week and Sunderland at home the following week and Watford at home the week after that.what's not to like.if he gets a couple this week everyone will want him.I like to be a leader not a follower.

    7. Dugout
      • 11 Years

As said above, Hazard brings consistency. I wouldn't be bringing him in unless I was in a strong position and little to lose on a punt. That happens to be the case this week. Need to shift Sanchez, and have a great squad which doesn't need any work doing to it at the moment. OR is good, and TV is great. So for me, throwing a bit of risk into the mix is actually a calculated risk.

Hazard can be out of form for 5-10 weeks (I've seen this before). But he can then hit form for 10-20 weeks. When he does, his consistency is up there with Aguero. So I'm not advocating everyone should bring him in just yet, but for me it's worth taking a punt - he could be the differential that gets me into the top 10k, but if it isn't, I don't stand to lose much in rank because I own all the other form players at the moment.

If you're in a strong position, sometimes it's worth taking a punt.

Would hold this week, those 3 have ideal fixtures. I have Rojo and just keeping him for this week.

Getting Coutinho in for a hit (after the presser, assuming he's fit).

    Would you get rid of:
    A) Cabaye (eve, SOU, sto, bou)
    B) Wijnaldum (LIV, tot, AVL, EVE)

Bit torn. Newc aren't going to score many, but Wijnaldum will be involved if they do. Cabaye on pens / FKs, but rarely scores from free play.

Don't bench Mahrez. I would bench Willian, but you probably won't do that 😛 So bench Mata?

Rojo > Moreno worth a hit if I have Huth and Richards as backups?

Is Huth fit? Play him if so, if not then take the hit

I would do it. Likely CS for Moreno, and huge attacking potential.

Neither Huth nor Richards are likely to CS.

According to The Guardian, Arsenal are confident on signing William Carvalho for £25M.

Will Wenger finally buy a holding mid?

Add defender to the list too.

In fact add new manager as well.

They've been linked to a few DMs, but it's all newspaper rubbish at the moment. For example, Carvahlo's price varies between £25, £30, £32 and £35 million depending on the papers.

I think they should, but the issue is Wenger might not want another world class DM and stunt Coquelin's development with less game time when he returns. It's a tricky situation.

Yeah I get that - they will need something though. Can't rely on Flamini/Arteta

I agree something is needed. Wilshere could work there but his injuries make him too much of a risk to rely on. Perhaps a loan would be a good idea, until Summer or something to that effect.

Aye, my thinking is that they wont go and buy a 1st team DM with Wilshere and Coq on the books. If they plan to sell Wilshere then its the move to do imo

We're on the same page, I agree with all of this. Possibility of a loan perhaps or buying an older player/utility player but if they go after a really world class DM it'll create some problems for bringing both him and Coq forward.

Might just captain Vardy again. Stats haven't changed at all in the past few weeks and Swansea are hopeless.

This is the move that is being overlooked. Currently for me the captaincy is between Vardy and Lukaku. Both my best bets for points I think.

Palace are pretty sturdy at the back, with big central defenders who can handle big Lukaku.

      Fairly template Balders.

I have visions of everyone effectively having the same team but maybe it won't go like that.

Thanks for joining the league a few faces in there be nice if there was a winner amongst us.
