Following the weekend result at the theatre of nightmares, I finally find the enthusiasm to pick myself off the floor, dust down and into the studio. As I would expect, Mark isn’t too keen to let things pass unmentioned.

I quickly switch the discussion to my 70-point weekend. I’m a happy man with a Van, with smatterings of Suarez frustration and Dzeko regret thrown in.

Two things I regret from this episode. I kind of hope nobody hears me mention coveting Nicklas Bendtner. It’s like I’ve just come out. Anyway, I’ve joined the support group.

Secondly, I tempted fate spectacularly by mentioning that Luis Suarez had failed to score more than once in a match for Liverpool. Hours later, he kicked me in the unmentionables for the second time in a week. The swine.

Oh and another thing, I went into to the recording with one mission – to mention the early kick-off at Goodison on Saturday, giving us the luxury of seeing the team-sheets before the deadline. I forgot. If only it was as easy to forget Sunday lunchtime.

Hey guys, new to the site only just made an account after reading the comments for the last few days, WC'ing this week, normally know what I am doing but am interested in everyones thoughts/opinions
    Vorm Ruddy
    Kompany Wilkinson N.Taylor Simpson Enrique/Smalling
Silva Mata Nani Van der Vaart (VC) B.Johnson
    Aguero (C) Adebayor Sturridge
    1. Will do Aguero > RVP next gameweek
    2. B.Johnson or Allen?
    3. Enrique or Smalling?
    4. Anything else?
    Thanks alot in advance!

      Great team.

      1) sounds good
      2) Could you afford Pilkington over both of them?
      3) Enrique
      4) Not much i can see wrong with it, maybe upgrade Ruddy if you have the funds

        Thanks Demi!
I could get both Pilkington and Krul in for Ruddy and Johnson/Allen but that would mean no RVP.
Pilkington/Johnson/Allen would only play if rotation occurred, but the Ruddy/Vorm combo isnt too appealing, even though they have done alright for me so far.

            🙂

Yeah it is a tricky situation. You do mention about the cheap mid only playing when rotation occured, so that's alright then. I'd get Allen out of the two.

I guess it's all about the attacking options this season, as the defenders are hard to trust. You're right about needing RVP, those fixtures are scrumptious.

I'd get Allen and keep Ruddy then

Thanks again, what do you think of Mata?
Watched him play a few times and he looks a good FF pick without delivering as of yet, with Torres back he could go crazy but im worried, have had him all along

I think you can afford not to have him in your team, until he's consistently getting them good points haul. For a 9.5m player, you should expect nothing less. With his low onwership, it won't hurt if you dont have him either. Maybe downgrade Mata to upgrade the defence/goalkeeper.

You already have Sturridge from Chelsea too, and i don't think their fixtures merit you needing 2 of your 8 attackers from Chelsea

You have two Chelsea attackers and are killing it.
But im guessing you did Mata > Van der Vaart this week haha
I will play around with the team without Mata and see what I come up with.

Allen has scored started 6 games, and has scored 6 and 8 at home along with 9 against Wolves at home, his other 3 were against Chelsea/Arsenal and Norwich away where he did nothing, not bad in my opinion

Yeah i've never really got round to looking at Allen as I've had Dyer as my bargain basement midfielder since about gw 2.

Only thing I'd be tempted to do to your team is drop Nani for a £6m midfielder (Walters?) to enable you to get Rooney in for Adebayor ... You then wouldnt have to choose between RVP and Rooney ...

Hey man, you sure you want Mata? I'd probably want to downgrade him and upgrade Adebayor. I think VDV is enough Spurs coverage for now. That's all I can really see apart from Pilkington. If you can try and get Begovic in goal, he's a beast. I WC'd a couple weeks ago and chose Hennessey and Begovic for a slightly more expensive rotation. It's paid off so far, admittedly Wolves aren't notorious for clean sheets, but that could change!

Other than that nice team and welcome to the site! 🙂

Hey Fratboy..I have had Mata since he signed with Chelsea as I watched him at Valencia and he was a freak with a goal or assist most weeks.
Watching him play he seems to have just been 'unlucky' but I think with Torres back and them on the rebound he could prove to be worth it, I think I will give him a few weeks or so to prove his worth.
I saw a few times on here someone mention Adebayor and Van der Vaart average something like 16.2 points per game when playing together, I think at his price he is a bargain, but it is hard to argue with your ranking.
I just think the keepers are pretty useless at the moment considering the lack of cleen sheets so far, and Ruddy or Vorm seem nailed on for a few save points each week.
        Thanks for your thoughts!

United are awaiting the results of a scan on Young’s injury, but he is considered unlikely to feature at Goodison Park. He is also a doubt for England’s friendlies against Spain and Holland next month."

        3) even though ramsey seems to be on form and chelsea have kept 1 cs so far?

        4) if he does play who would you start? cuz i'd rather just start him and worst case i have one of those other two come off the bench

Im looking at getting Bendtner in after week 11 when sunderlands fixtures are good.

Which 1 would you sacrifice to get him in

    Sturridge or Adebayor

My other midfielders and strikers are

    Nani VDV Nasri Brunt Pilkington

    RVP

Was thinking that as have VDV as spurs coverage but no other chelsea coverage.

What are your thoughts on kyle walker as i was thinking if i have a 2nd free transfers after week 11 i could upgrade simpson to walker as newcastles fixtures get tough and he may be dropped as well.

    Hi folks,

wouldn't normally do this but I'm having trouble deciding what to do and would appreciate any advice, tips, views or input!

    attack is:

    Sess Silva Petrov MATA MOSES

    Odem Rvp ODEMWINGIE

I've got 2 freebies and I'm considering one of the following:

Mata > VDV - VDV is looking good and has a favourable home match. Mata has been consistent, but consistently average. Cut my losses and get VDV ASAP

Moses & Odem > Walters & Danny Graham - swap my cheap 5th attacker from a flop to a striker in a bit of goal scoring form and Odem to an OOP player on pens with good fixtures.

In the second case, I'd Leave Mata til next week, where I might swap him for Nani or VDV.

    What do you think?

They both look viable enough, but if you want VdV captain this week then it makes sense to prioritise that move ahead of reshuffling elsewhere, Odem could do ok this week.

Yeah, good point, I had thought about that. I'm considering Silva (c) since he looks set to play at least 60 minutes and is home against a struggling Wolves side. VDV captain would be a bigger risk but a bigger potential reward in my opinion as Defoe might start ahead of him and he's arguably a bit less consistent than Silva

do we reckon RVP will rise before sat deadline,

i've done my WC and have suarez aguero and adebayor

i have left 2.6m in bank - so suarez is on my team at 9.5m and that gives exactly 12.1m (RVP price) bit screwed if he goes up one

He continually wastes chance after chance in pl games

So im more of the feeeling the stoke game was the exception to the rule and not a sign his finishing has suddenly become good.

Reasoning - I was going to get rid after the next 2 Gws anyway, and I think Aguero will outscore him over the next 2. Plus his 3rd fixture is far better (after which Aguero -> Rooney)

He has only scored less than 5 once when he started...
He is the must-have player at the moment, he has a high-ownership meaning if he scores well (which he has done almost every week) then you are behind the pack and, unlike other high-ownership players such as Rooney and Suarez, he is bang on form and City are scoring for fun, massive gamble that I think would be silly to take.
It isnt hard to fit him and VDV into one team, and they are the 2 expensive midfielders that most teams should have, followed by Nani.
But even then, those 3 are pretty easy to fit in without massively weakening your squad.

Silva's has liv, che and ARS in 3/4 fixtures whereas Nani has NEW, ast, WOL, qpr

The only reason to worry about value is points, if you've sold Silva and you can't afford to get him back without making a makeweight transfer then that's 3 transfers you've used and they're worth 12 points.

Not sure I agree with the maths there, but I get your point. Matter of preference I think. How are you doing this year Stilcho? I had a shocking start, but scraped into the top 110k last week, so things are looking up.

What is a worse fixture than the champions away?
12 points later...no way would I even consider selling him unless he gets injured.

See above. It would be a big call, but then people went nuts about Rooney being undroppable 3 weeks ago and look what's happened there. IMO it's all about playing form & fixtures (and accepting there will be bizarre results like at Old Trafford last w/e).

I know the United away is the toughest game out the lot but do you think he would have scored more than 2 points if united kept 10 men? I'm not so sure.

Perhaps not, but Silva has been scoring points consistently whilst playing entirely within himself, whereas Nani has had two wonderstrikes that it's unlikely he'll keep reproducing.

I never said a thing about Nani 🙂 his game time is too much of a worry at that price

Either way, he got the points.
How many people argued with Adebayor scoring against 10 men (me included) for him to go on a scoring run, or the fact that Van der Vaart was lucky he got a penalty 2 weeks ago, for him to score 15 points last week.
I think making excuses for people scoring points is silly, especially for the 3rd highest scorer in the game, and highest scoring midfielder.

So Ashley Young out kind of makes my decision easy: Young > Walters.

    Thoughts?

    Vorm (Krul)
    Bosingwa Simpson Kompany (Ward DeLaet)
    Silva VDV Walters Dyer (Petrov)
    RVP Suarez Surridge

    Bank before transfer: 0.1 ... after: 4.0

Any additional transfer worth a 4 point hit, you feel? Suarez > Aguero may work long term, but Suarez is playing well.

I wonder is it significant that Naari was took off after 60 mins on wed

If Mancini wasnt going to play him sat surely he would have given him 90 mins as nasri hasnt plyed a full 90 mins for city for a while.

Or Maybe its me clutching at straws as a nasri owner

It's possible that he want to play Nasri at the weekend and save someone else (e.g. Johnson) for CL.

If I had Nasri I would look to shift him soon if he doesn't cement a regular starting spot in the league.
