Christian Benteke fires Liverpool to victory for the second successive victory with a solitary strike against Sunderland. The Black Cats remain seven points adrift from safety after chalking up a fifth successive loss under Sam Allardyce.

Benteke Wins it for Reds

Christian Benteke steered Liverpool to their second consecutive 1-0 victory, downing Sunderland with a close-range finish just beyond the break. Although Daniel Sturridge threatens to displace the Belgian on his imminent return to action, for now Benteke has assured his starting berth with two goals in as many starts. Nonetheless, few Fantasy managers will be willing to invest in a Reds attack that carded four goals in the previous five Gameweeks and faces a tough trio of upcoming fixtures (whu, ARS, MUN).

Adam Lallana scooped his second assist in four starts but harbours minimal appeal at the 7.3 mark, while Philippe Coutinho drew his fourth blank in succession. No midfield recorded more attempts (six) than the Brazil international this Gameweek, but his propensity for mid-tolong-range efforts resulted in just two shots inside the box.

Liverpool chalked up just two clean sheets between Gameweeks 4 and 17 but have since claimed back-to-back shut-outs. In terms of the choice route into their rearguard, Alberto Moreno (5.0) stands out by virtue of his affordable price tag and the fact that he ranks top among all defenders for key passes (12) over the past four Gameweeks.

Another Loss for Black Cats

The Black Cats are seven points adrift of safety in the relegation zone after falling to their fifth defeat in a row. It’s worth noting, however, that Sam Allardyce’s troops were pitted against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City during that period, so there’s definite scope for improvement as they prepare for a more agreeable quartet of match-ups (AVL, swa, tot, BOU) in the coming weeks.

From a Fantasy standpoint, it’s tricky to pinpoint any potential gems among the Wearsiders’ floundering squad. Their defensive travails intensified with fresh injuries to John O’Shea (absent from matchday squad) and Sebastian Coates (dead leg in second half), while their offense has produced two goals in four outings and lacks consistency in its composition. In saying that, Fabio Borini (5.4) has notched both those strikes and has fired 10 shots inside the box in the last four Gameweeks – only four strikers have managed more.

    Morning guys

    Have I got my defence right?

    Richard, Azpi, Monreal

    (Toby, Nyom)

    I'm playing Lukaku up top

    Butland
    Bellerin - Kolarov - Wolly
    KDB - Ozil - Mahrez - Barkley
    Vardy - Ighalo - Lukaku

    Mccarthy - Alli - Moreno - Toby

    7.7 itb

    Okay to save the transfer? Tempted to do Barkley and Alli to Sanchez and Payet in the coming weeks. Giving me a benching headache and ignoring Aguero. Thoughts?

    Decided to bank a FT rather than do Barkley --> Arnautovic.

    Need 2 of these to join Bellerin in my back line.

    Dawson (STK)
    Simpson (BOU)
    Moreno (whu)
    Sagna(wat)

    I feel like Stoke will shut WBA out this GW so could do Sagna --> Wolly and play him. Problem is from the following GW I fancy bringing in Williams for Sagna.

      I would definitely do Sagna > Wolly. And then play him, Moreno and Simpson. Forget Williams.

        I agree with you based on this weeks fixtures. But the extra FT could be important the following week and I not sold on Stokes clean sheet chances after this GW.

    Bit far fetched, bus best route here chaps? They're quite similar, and essentially boil down to is KDB -> Ozil worth a hit this week. A = No, B = Yes.

    A)
    GW20: Save
    GW21: Barkley & Wally -> Silva & Alli
    GW22: Save
    GW23: KDB & Silva -> Sanchez & Ozil

    B)
    GW20: KDB -> Ozil
    GW21: Barkley & Wally -> KDB & Alli (4 points)
    GW22: Save
    GW23: KDB -> Sanchez (Save other transfer)

    KDB, Walcott, Mahrez, Barkley, Surman
    Aguero, Kane, Lukaku
    Bank 0.0m, 1FT

        B) Ozil (NEW, liv, sto)

    To make this game less template they really need to have rewards for Defensive midfielders.

    So many players that don't get a look in because of the position they play

      This has come up for discussion before. I do sort of agree, it would be nice to get a bigger pool of players.

      The only good thing right now is, aside from the odd close BPS we don't have to cheer for an extra interception from Matic, instead we're cheering for goals and assists - that's much more exciting.

    I really like Southampton's fixtures. Mane is cheap now...

    Riposte! 🙂

    My Team

    Cech (McCarthy)

    Dawson Toby Dann (Wolly & Simpson)

    Mahrez KDB Ramsey Ozil (Stanislas)

    Kane Deeney Lukaku

    6.5 ITB - 1 FT

    Which defender would you bench for GW 20?

    Anything else that needs taken care of?

    Any help is much appreciated!

    New entry at the top of the Goals Imminent table.....last time he was placed this highly he went on to score a brace.

      Ranked by on target for a man about to face a team who they always seem to beat!

    Wolly - cheapest route, reasonably BAP friendly, no goal threat
    ShawX - lowest owned, big goal threat, not likely to get BAPs unless he scores
    GJ - most expensive but most potential
    Pieters - middle of the road, decent assist potential and decent for BAPs

    Pick one please

      I own Wollscheild, nice and cheap. In hindsight I'd be all over Johnson now. Potential for the occasional double figure hauls imo

    Appreciate some help with my defence this week. Enough strength to save my transfer? Or use my free to upgrade Francis?

    De Gea (SWA)
    Bellerin (NEW), Wollscheild (wba), Dann (CHE)
    Subs... Alderweireld (eve), Francis (lei)

    Kolarov Moreno Bellerin
    KDB Walcott Ozil Mahrez
    Vardy Lukaku Kane

    Hennesey Simpson VVD Stanislas

    2FT 0.8 banked. Had 2 FT for weeks now, any moves stand out?
