OKAY TIME TO COME CLEAN, was waiting for a new page so everyone saw.
First of all, im not actually mattyd. I apologise to mattyd if he ever reads this, but i took his link and name to 'blame' someone for my stupidity, main reason i am saying that part is because from my encounters on here with he is alright and should be able to post here in peace later on
Secondly, i dont even play FPL..lol..
Thirdly, I have no idea how Nigel came to the conclusion of my team link being mattyd's but he seemed to fall for it, so again i apologise to mattyd, although it did seem to work wonders, maybe i should have done it to alex kheruson to get that guy hated haha.
Fourthly i apologise to Christina and Jafa who offered alot of their time and support to me.
Fifthly im not a 26 year old pe teacher, im 17 years old.
Anything else you wish to ask before I piss off forever?

Of course he is man, the times he logged on should have given it away and the times he complained about having to watch matches. I never cared about time differences when I was 17. Most of the advice was sound yet with a narcissistic element of wummage. I didn´t really care how old he was, look at his name and grav, I always assumed he was young (17-21) and inconsistently mature.

There is no doubt that JackOff and MattyD are the same person - his name is Matt Devine, and he is indeed an Australian. I have been on to him for a long while and can bore you all with some details if you like. This latest piece of bullshit about not even playing FPL and "hijacking" MattyD's team link is just a desperate attempt to try and deny the fact that he has two FFS accounts and was actually posting questions and replies to himself. Matt, if you had of just come clean honestly and admitted the facts, people would have probably laughed, called you a twat, and then gone back to listening to your advice etc. You've decided to keep fibbing to try and save face and that will only make things worse. Grow up mate...

There was a bloke on the hearts site I go on that pretended to be a soldier who became an entrepreneur businessman who got cancer and finally logged on as someone else and pretended to have died.

Folk on the site started a huge charity campaign on his behalf while he was 'stricken'.

The guy eventually came on admitting everything and blamed his mental health.

          Sad.

Hope tough talking ChrisKing doesn't mind me answering your question and dragging this thing on a little longer. You and Jaf were friendly to the guy and therefore deserve an answer.

Maybe I am a loser that needs to get a life :-), but I didn't really waste too much time on the 'investigation'. When I said ..”have been on to him for a long while…” I meant that I 'just knew' that he was a shonk that was fabricating stuff from early on, but I didn't have any proof. Firstly, the guy was hard not to notice - he was very abusive to people a while back, and a couple of people pulled him up on it. One time a guy named 'MattyD' came to his defence, praising up his wonderful advice to people etc and bagging the guy that had pulled him up, and I was immediately suspicious that it sounded like a 'self-post', and so started to take more notice of his posts (which were numerous). I just remembered certain things he claimed about his transfers, points, ranking etc and soon saw inconsistencies. It was only in the last week that he slipped up with the following two posts:

              http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2011/10/27/the-scoutcast-%e2%80%93-episode-60-man-with-a-van/comment-page-11/#comment-2153923

The first one revealed which league he was in, I just scrolled through until I found a team that had scored the amount of points he'd claimed to have got that week, and one of those teams had the exact same players he had said he had. When I noticed the team name 'Matty's Maulers' and the manager's name 'Matt Devine' I remembered the MattyD post defending him and knew it was him and that they were the same guy. The second post linked above confirmed that this was his team. I just then bookmarked it and had a look (and laugh) when I saw him post comments about his team, transfers etc. Didn't know if I was going to out him, but when he started blatantly lying to you and Jafa, I thought you both deserved to know he was full of crap. Interestingly then last night that MattyD made another appearence, this time linking his team, which was identical to my bookmarked one of Jack's! 😯 Not that I needed convincing anyway. The manager's name then got changed to 'Jack Hopkins', but has since been changed back to 'Matt Devine'. Really, it took longer to type this up than what any detective work took!

ChrisKing is right that no-one got hurt, but this guy was giving advice left, right & centre here numerous times a day, it wasn't like he was keeping a low profile. And you guys had been helpful to him from what I saw...

Was looking into this myself since Given's fixtures are AWFUL.

        So far it's between:

Howard + Vorm (awesome until GW21)
        (Sunderland Keeper) + Robinson
        Robinson + Vorm

Do people think the extra money for Howard + Vorm or Sun + Robinson is worth it over Robinson + Vorm?

I don't see Robinson keeping many clean sheets, even with the decent home fixtures when I'll play him, whereas Howard could be good for quite a few clean sheets.

In exchange for the info please leave your opinion/views/ideas!

i think you should go fr vorm ruddy instead of robinson vorm.. robbo wont get clean sheets so might as well save the 1m and play vorm every week.. consistent 3 points with CS's here and there

Good point, the logic was that the extra 0.8m for Robbo + Vorm would get me 3 extra favourable home games than Ruddy + Vorm... can't see it being good value in that case.

            How about

Vorm + Ruddy @ 8.2m (4 favourable home games when rotated)
            vs.
Howard + Vorm @ 9.6m (8 favourable home games when rotated + Everton good for cleanies?)

Wortht he extra? Not so sure at the moment...

          thanks for the info!

will definitely keep those pairing in mind

the cost of the pairings seems kinda steep for me, vorm n robinson is about the most i'll go at 9.2mil

the way i see it, it's saving on the keeps to ensure i have good cap choices each wk, looking to get rvp, rooney, silva and vdv.

anyone to go with ruddy or kenny?

Yeah I know what you mean, but when you consider that if you play it right, there's double the favourable home fixtures and a greater potential for clean sheets from teams with good defences at home (Swansea and Everton)

Depends if you think Swansea can maintain their form. I think mid table may be a false position for them. Can't see Vorm maintaining his form but I can see Everton improving theirs

But did they didn't rotate particularly well.

You can only play 1 keeper at a time so adding their totals isn't the same as saying they rotate well. Look at GW2 and GW3 for example. They both scored well but you wouldn't get the points for both of them.

Saying that if you picked the correct player each week you would have got 5+ points which is decent, although they were luck to get 3 penalty saves between them, especially Al Habsi away to City - no-one in their right might would have picked him!

        plus you

Sounds moves for me, smells a little like chasing points, but because RVP and VDV are both season keepers barring injury and their fixtures are decent they are very sound moves (just dont swap them out if they dont score next week!)

Personally my goal hasnt been to have 3 exp mids and 2 exp forwards (although thats what ill have for next few gwks). My aim is to have a minimum of 2 captaincy options (preferably 3) and united coverage (as well as City, Tot and Ars) and my current team is the best way i could acheive that. It means my united coverage is Nani, but we'll see how that works out, i still back him to do well if United do well.

          Silva is the best
VDV play forward, doesnt play Europa this season. he's on PK, FK...
if you decided to choose 2 Mid way, i think you should have Silva and VDV, not Nani

I dont like things called coverage. i choose the best player at a price, no matter what's his team

Nani is one of the best FPL points scorers historically with a price of just 10m. United have great fixtures until early January.

Silva has outscored Nani til now, but if United start to perform then its likely Nani will bring in the points - and probably to a larger degree than Silva. Anyway, for now my big 5 will be Silva, VDV, Nani with RVP and Aguero up front. Happy with that.

the problem of Nani is Sir Alex Ferguson. oly God know what's line up for every match.

if Nani plays for Spurs i will choose him
Silva often plays every 90 minuites

I'm thinking about it too (my post in last page) and seeing these things favor MF.
          - 1 more point than FW for goal
          - 1 more point if the team keep CS
          - same point for assist

I think the combination of expensive MF/FW with 6.x mil players based on good fixtures will be my way to go... Not a definite of 2 or 3 expensive MF. I will shuffle on the fixtures.

i'll choose 3 mids and 2 forwards between those, gives room to fit in any in form mid/low price striker from time to time.

who's ur bigs up front? rooney, rvp, aguero? who will u replace them with in times of injury, suspension or loss or form?

ur big mid is likely to be cheaper than ur big forward, hence more to spread ard!

Brown - Away to meet Man Utd. Sunderland will not have their first-choice GK, Mignolet, and O'Shea.

Naylor - Away to meet Liverpool. Swansea have yet to keep CS away from home.

Krul in goal and other DF are Richards, Simpson, De Laet.

Neither are going to keep a cleansheet for you, so it really comes down to who you see getting thrashed less. I don't think Liverpool have a crushing victory in them so I'd probably go with the SWA defender.

worth doing kompany to vermaelen for a 4pt hit?

before you jump on me for taking a hit to replace a defender, see the following exhibits:

    a) kompany suspended GW11, vermaelen home to west brom
    b) kompany likely to fall in value this week, in which case i can't afford vermaelen
    c) vermaelen's next 10 fixtures: WBA nor FUL wig EVE mcy avl WOL QPR ful; kompany's next 10 fixtures (excl. GW11): NEW liv NOR che ARS STK wba sun LIV wig --> edge to vermaelen
    d) vermaelen's attacking returns since '09: 7 goals, 2 assists in 3,429 minutes; kompany's attacking returns since '09: 2 goals, 3 assists in 6,138 minutes.

i think the above exhibits demonstrate why i want vermaelen, and it starts with GW11.
if i wait 'til next week, it will mean a hit anyways, as i won't have enough funds to make the switch in a single transfer.

    soooooo.....go for it?

Nope, kompany is well worth keeping, imo with those fixtures Komp is still going to keep more clean sheets than Vermaelen. I've been looking at getting a united def in for kompany, that might be where to look

Just remember Arsenals defense is cake regardless of who they are playing against, Vermaelen may improve things but not dramatically.

Kompany by contrasts plays for a team with a solid defense regardless of fixtures

Its a no brainer for me. Don't be fooled by fixtures

United cover is where I would look if you really wanted to get rid of Kompany

over the first 10 GWs, despite all the talk about arsenal's defensive frailties, they've only kept one less cleanie than united (and citeh, for that matter).

as for the fixtures argument between ARS/MANU lines up as follows:

ManU: SUN swa NEW avl WOL qpr ful WIG BLA new
Ars: WBA nor FUL wig EVE mcy avl WOL QPR ful

By opp table position (rank then home/away):

        ManU: 14h 10a 3h 9a 17h 12a 15a 20h 18h 3a (avg. home opp rank: 14.4; avg. away opp rank: 9.8; overall opp rank: 12.1)

        Ars: 13h 8a 15h 20a 16h 1a 9a 17h 12h 15a (avg home opp rank: 14.6; avg away opp rank: 10.6; overall opp rank: 12.6)

So, on fixtures, Ars is looking better than ManU (if slightly), not to mention the fact that with Koscielny/Mertesacker/Vermaelen/Santos across the back and at full strength, my feeling is that we're about to come into some shockingly, abnormally decent defensive performances from Arsenal.

Finally, who from the United back four can give you the attacking returns that Verm has over the past 3500 minutes? Vidic is the only one who comes close, but is a full 1.1 more expensive.

You would have to try your luck with someone like Jones, he gets forward a lot. I would also disagree with you that Arsenal has better fixtures than United after all there is a certain match against Manchester City. Also Jones is cheaper than Vermaelen, when Smalling comes back he would also be a better option and cheaper still.

and just to carry that fixture analysis across to citeh:

QPR NEW liv NOR che ARS STK wba sun LIV

          or

          18h 3h 6a 8h 4a 7h 11h 13a 14a 6h (avg home opp rank: 8.8; avg away opp rank: 9.25; overall opp rank: 9)

          or

3 places in the table tougher (on current form) than either united or arsenal

and here we're thinking about clean sheets/attacking points, NOT wins/losses, so the relative fixture strength tends to matter.

I agree City have tougher fixtures. The question is, do you sub him for United are Arsenal defense. For me the United defense should be more reliable, remember Vidic will be back too

why spend 6.7 on a ars def? surely there are other ways to spend ur cash?

i really do rate vermaelen, but i'll really sooner get more ars attacking coverage than defensive ones

By the time you get Vermaelen in your team you have to take him out again.

And, by the poster's logic you'd be better off with someone like Anton Ferds who has as many cleanies so far as anyone else and is a bonus point magnet, not a rotation risk and only £4.7m.

Arsenal Defs are just not good value for the money they cost.

nomar, you've posted some serious wisdom in the past, so i'll give you the benefit of the doubt here and cast aside your clear QPR bias!

however, the upcoming fixtures for QPR are

MCY stk nor WBA liv MAN SUN swa ars NOR
          1h 11a 8a 13h 6a 2h 14h 10a 7a 8h

          home: 7.6; away: 8.4; overall: 8.0

in general, pretty f*in tough. also, the BP argument doesn't really hold water, as vermaelen plays the same type of role that ferdinand does, so assuming arsenal put in the same type of display that qpr do on the day, vermaelen will get the same BPs that ferdinand does.

also, with my attacking 8 of:

          silva/allen/nani/vdv/ramsey
          rvp/bendtner/adebayor,

i'm not sure how i would use the extra cash from kompany > ferdinand (not vermaelen), so the price difference isn't a huge deal for me.

BUT i would like to know why you say that i'd be taking vermaelen out of my team as soon as i get him in.

          thanks!

Because he's injury prone and can't stay healthy.

Right now I find it hard to see how any FPL def justifies a £6.7m price tag, let alone one who is constantly injured and plays in a notoriously shaky defence.

But I'm sure none of that will put you off, so I hope he works out for you.

OK peoples, here's my thoughts for GW11:

    Krul (Vorm)
    Ward, Enrique, Simpson (Naylor, Kompany)
    VDV, Silva, Walters, PetrovS (PetrovM)
    Suarez, Rooney, Agbonlahor

only change was Rooney > RvP. madness or mustness?

I think so. The only games he hasn't started in the Prem are Liverpool and Everton away (I think), both where Fergie would've wanted someone to help out defensively a bit more than Nani does. There's no games like that coming up, I'd be surprised if he isn't starting the vast majority of games.

but on the other side, it's like: take the bait, make the change, get on the bandwagon.

Not having RVP is a worry for you, and I wouldn't want to be without him this week, but the idea of taking Rooney out before Sunderland at home just doesn't seem right to me. Suarez out isn't great given his fixture either, so it would be a big point hit needed otherwise. Just my 2 cents though.

            Given (Vorm)
J Enrique, Simpson, Shawcross, (Bosingwa), (Kompany)
Martin Petrov, Johnson (Norwich midfielder), Silva, Ramsay, (Sinclair)
            Van Persie. Rooney, Adebayor

I have opted for Martin Petrov (as opposed to Scott Sinclair) as Bolton have the easier fixture. Not sure though as Petrov has been very poor recently

Yeah Chris. Ive had fifa12 since it came out. Arsenal is one of my favorite teams to play for career mode. My first signing was Mario Gotze from Dortmund, on a loan to buy. Second major signing was Javi Garcia from Benfica. Third was Mat Hummels also from Dortmund.

I personally like rvp for his in-game style of play. I like to play my virtual pro along the front line, and rvp has the best link-up for my game style.

Also for your first season, i would almost exclusively play Aarron and Jack as your midfield 2. Ramsey shows significant improvement early on.

Cover is overrated in my opinion.
For example, if someone had Ramsey, but not Nani, and was selling a forward and had 12.5 to spend, the better choice would be RVP regardless of cover.
Still semi-important to not put all your eggs in one basket though.

only to some extend in offense, but "cover" is much more important in Def
in def every defender share cleanie
for offense, only a few key players have this characteristic and its not guaranteed pts like def.

for example, i have sturr and ramsey as my CHE and ARS cover this week. 5-3 score was bound to get me some returns but then i only 2 from each. So cover in offense doesn't always work

Fairly set now on doing Brown to Wilkinson to free up a bit of cash. My other free will probably be used for either:

    1. Barton to Ramsey; or
    2. Nani to VDV

Second one a big knee-jerky but Spurs' fixtures are good and VDV looks like he'll score all season, plus his price is rocketing and I'm losing ground to rivals who have him.

Does anyone know the highest a players value has gotten over years? For instants c Ronaldo in them at year were he score 40 something goals? Surely it would have been huge. Is there a limit a player can rise

No limit, it would just go up as long as there's people left to buy the player. I think Ronaldo started (that season) £14M, and went to over £15M. Henry would've been around that area too.

Hi guys what are your thoughts on Rooney. He has not done much these last few weeks but does anyone fancy him now that Man United have easier fixtures coming up.

I am thinking of making these changes (for a four point penalty):

    Rooney to Suarez

    Given to De Gea

    What do you think?
I think that although Suarez has Chelsea away he could score due to Chelsea's poor defence.

Manchester United have the easiest run till the end of the season

Why? because the have played all of the other 5 teams in the big 6 already (Ars, Tot, Che, Liv, Cit).

Which obviously means they only have to play them once more each.

    Cue: Get United players now!!

Agreed. They're in a bit of a transitional period now I think, SAF will work from the back for some solidarity and go from there. They'll be back, but i'm keeping my eye on their form, not bringing Nani/Young in just in case they may score big

I also agree. I will wait and see as to how the sunderland game goes, I can see their form may rise. Remember they have had a tough patch of fixtures, don't go all anti Man United now as a result. Form will come in the next couple of weeks

I'll be watching the Sunderland game to see whether or not it's worth putting Nani in, there's no doubt their fixtures are getting much better it's just a case of whether or not their form can make the most of a 10.1 mil investment.

There are arguments for and against
Defence - The ones worth getting are more expensive than City defenders and will probably keep less cleanies
Midfield - Nani/Young have been poor and VDV/Silva/Mata/Lampard are in better form.
Forwards - Rooney only nailed on and Aguero/RVP are playing better at the moment.
Seen a few people say this and I have to say I agree.

          This.
I dont think City are the same side as last year defensively, they've conceded goals to Wolves, Villa, Bolton and Fulham this year. With tougher fixtures to come I think you may not see great returns for city defenders.

I think so. Jones is nailed on for me, particularly over the relatively decent fixtures coming up. Evans is a bit of a risk though. At any point, Raphael or Ferdinand could come in and Evans will probably make way.
United wont get that many clean sheets, but who will.

Personally going with, De Gea, I still think hes more nailed on, now with Rafael Vidic and Ferdinand fit. And you can get a decent Defender for 4 mil to make up for the extra 0.6, and you cannot get a quality keeper at 4.

Personally I don't like spending 6.6m on a keeper who won't score or assist. At least with an outfield player there is a chance.

Fair point, but normally the manager gives the 'it looks like a bad one' or 'it doesn't look as bad as first feared' synopsis

Hhhm, not nearly as aggressive though.

Tosey - now that I got you on the line...what you doing defence wise going forward? Was it you that said Stoke + BlackB from gw 12-->

I have Enrique and thought of selling but, Im not so sure anymore. I paid 5.2m and he is up at 5.5m I think. If I cut him lose then that's it, won't get him in again. I know Pool have tough games, but I can bench him i think or even play for the odd assist.

Maybe I should let Mata/Sturridge go rather.

defence wise im bargain basement apart from enrique n its gone well recently. not enough consistency to double/treble, had doubled on newcastle but got rid of s.taylor last week

i have no idea about the rest of my team at the moment, i need to shift gerrard n bent over the next few weeks n unsure whether i want rooney lamps nani or even baines. need to decide this week tho as whoever i bring in for gerrard dictates what i can afford to do the cpl of weeks after

swaying towards lampard at the moment, altho could do gerrard to mata then bent to rooney?

          any thoughts?

Trouble with Lampard is that he really affects the rest of your team ... and Chelsea may be about to enter a major wobble ...

He was negative most of the time, and rarely answered direct questions from me. But hey, I couldn't really give a toss, got more important things to worry about! I know the good guys on here. Nuff said

For all those still languishing with Ferguson, you could do worse than putting in Reo-Coker ... 🙂
