So I did it. After a couple of weeks attempting to resist Sergio Aguero and, despite meticulously constructing a convincing case to avoid him, I went back on my word.

Recovering from the dramatic climb-down, I felt rather hollow heading into this ScoutCast, with Jonty, Andy and Luke all too keen to watch on while I tucked into humble pie.

Not surprisingly, I spend a good part of this episode justifying the back tracking, before I join my co-hosts in offering views on another bout of community questions. We discuss the Lukaku exit plans, Ozil vs Sanchez and contemplate options between the sticks with Jack Butland losing his shine.

Then we move on to the Gameweek preview, as I desperately try to find some joy in pondering which mid-price defender to sign heading into Saturday’s deadline. Sigh.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first aired live on Wednesday evening via our YouTube channel.

You can view the full version via the larger player below, or soak up the more refined audio version via this link or the smaller player.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for updates on new episodes.

NB: apologies in advance for Luke’s sound quality. We discovered a technical problem after the recording was completed. If you’re struggling to decipher what he’s saying, just imagine him agreeing with everything I say.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Ok, three options as I see it. Please can I get some thoughts, struggling with this one.

    DDG / HENN
    Bellerin Sagna Dawson Simpson Walker
    Mahrez Alli Payet Ozil Stanislas
    Kane Aguero Lukaku

    2FT & £3.1m ITB

    A.) Lukaku --> Vardy & save
    B.) Lukaku --> Vardy + Stanislas to someone and bench Mahrez
    C.) Stanislas --> Sanchez & Lukaku --> £5.1 striker/bench fodder (Defoe/BOJAN etc)

          You're not wrong. They were really impressive against City. But Liverpool also played well until Leicester scored. I can't see S'land doing well at Anfield TBH.

  13. Captain Fantastic Firmino

    This weekend, Manchester City are playing the league leaders who have lost once in their twelve games away from home this season and who have only conceded thirteen goals along the way. Liverpool on the other hand are playing a team who have lost nine of their twelve games on the road while conceding nearly three times as many goals en-route (last eight matches in all competitions = 6-0-3-3-4-3-2-4). They are also priced up at 1/5 to be relegated.

    Now, no one needs to tell me that there's a gulf in class between Manchester City and Liverpool but there's an even bigger one between Leicester and Sunderland (six places and thirteen points separate the first two but eighteen places and thirty one points separate the latter).

    In the "To score two or more goals" market, Aguero is favourite at 100/30. However, close up behind at 5/1 (and the clear midfield favourite) is Roberto Firmino.

    Sitting at only 11% in the captains poll, this guy looks like the one to stick the armband on if you're in need of a bit of a differential.

        Agree 100%. Just putting it out there that if you're like me (40 points behind in my works league) this might possibly be one of those rare opportunities to haul yourself back into contention.

      Liverpool are the new Spurs - talented individuals, able to destroy a team on the day when they click, but as soon as you need to rely on gem pulling a result together they'll flop and disappoint you.

      Spurs, on the other hand, appear to be the new Man City - star striker, quality midfield options, solid if mildly unrewarding defence, and reliable enough to score each game and potentially explode more often.

      Kane (c) for me...

    With ShawX injured, Stoke seem to struggle more to get CS. Is it worth taking a hit to bring in another goalkeeper to rotate with Butland? GKs and defence atm:

    Butland McCarthy

    DDG - HENN
    Bellerin Sagna Walker Dawson Simpson
    Ozil Mahrez Alli Payet Stanislas
    Kane Aguero Lukaku

    ** Lukaku --> Vardy & Stanislas --> Arnautovic **

    ~ logic being that both these players have a guranteed fixture in Gw27 and GW30. I will still have enough ITB to upgrade Ozil --> Sanchez if needed.

      Wondering about that myself, benching Mahrez atm (also have Vardy)

        Hate benching Mahrez though. Did it for his hatrick and brace and was fuming!! Got a chipped phone case to prove it... Don't think I could face the possibility of him getting a decent score and me losing out again. Currently opting for him.

          As in playing, not benching!

            Mahrez looked lively last match and Payet hasn't been great playing out wide, so I can easily see you point here. Playing both Mahrez and Vardy seems a bit too much away at City though imo

              Not convinced tbh. They're often both involved in Leicester's goals and city's defender is still far from convincing against anyone decent. Even at home.

    Pondering Silva+Lukaku -> Vardy+Sanchez for -4

    Better to hold off for one week and do next GW for free?

    Still think Man City win the league but would be great for the league if Leicester did. I'd never stop watching Arsenal Fan TV if Spurs did.

      After the KDB injury, I've gone from City to Spurs for who I think will win the league. Leicester will push them both all the way though

      0.00000000 goals in 4 games
      goalposts are 2 white sticks, seems stoke have 11 right now.

      Otherwise its a big yes as they have the #1 set of fixtures against leaky teams.
