Is Kun and Kompany enough for the Villa game, or is a City mid truly essential?

Looks like the main dilemma. Thing is, with the City midfield you can't guarantee who will get the points.

I could go Sanchez->Silva and not get Siggy instead. Just not sure doing both and losing Payet for a -4 is worth it.

Exact same boat. Sanchez to Siggy, I'm leaning towards then either Bellerin to Kompany or Payet to Silva. I like Payet playing in this 3-4-2-1 formation.

Not counting the blank, is Milner being overlooked? 3 goals and 4 assists in the last 7 games at that price. Fixtures are pretty good overall, Saints and Spurs next look tough but they have been conceding. I might double up since i already have Roberto.

at this point, I'm not really worried about risers/fallers. More concentrated on making the right FT's. Our team values should be pretty high already. And when we use our WC's for the dgw 34 or 37, it's not like we are going to have extremely expensive teams.

Ironic thing about Williams getting the winner tonight against Arsenal is that Wenger has been crying out for a centre half like him for years been right under his nose and couldn't see it.. fantastic centre half born leader and would walk onto that Arsenal team

ah come on now.. its been evident for years.. how many hidings have been dished out to Arsenal over the last few seasons.. just off the top of my head i remember liverpool putting 5 past them chelsea and city both hit them for 6.. i dont put the blame on mert entirely but his lack of pace is a huge contributor and that just wouldnt happen to Arsenal with Williams at the centre of the defence

      2. KingNidge

You have to be an outstanding defender to play for Arsenal - they're so often asked to play high up the pitch and defend counter attacks one-on-one that it's easy for them to be caught out. Most other teams in the premier league have a central midfield two that protect the back four. Just look at Huth - couldn't get in the Stoke team, and now looks a world beater in the hard working Leicester team.

The only thing Mertesacker lacks, is pace.

          1. KingNidge
            • 10 Years

The one thing that is essential for the type of football u just mentioned is pace and i would question if thats the only issue with him but thats besides the point

Kos is an outstanding defender but when u are operating beside a defender that turns like a milk float then its a big ask..

Now imagine Williams in alongside Kos.. big man has been top class for swansea since they arrived in the prem not been found wanting in any category as a centre back..

I can't argue with that. Williams has been so reliable for Swansea.

There has to be a reason why top clubs have passed on him, though. I think his distribution is a problem - ok, this isn't a problem from a defensive point of view, but is a factor. He's also not the quickest or the tallest.

But, he won't be bullied by a striker and he is a leader.

He's certainly not a ball player mate he's an old fashioned no nonsense CB with that none shall pass attitude.. not there to make something happen but there to stop things happening if u like.. Something Arsenal have long being crying out for and not only at the back but in the centre of the park too.. Dont have to be technically gifted they have too may of them and got them nowhere justa couple of players that are just gunna rattle someone every now and again and let them no that Arsenal wont be rolled over by anyone... they miss that

True - and they need that in the middle of the park as well as the back. Ramsey's really struggling the past couple of months.

Mert eould be good at say WBA. He was class for us a few years ago, but now as you say his pace is a major issue.

Im not saying hes bad. Theres many defenders that wouldnt fit into arsenal. Williams is one who would though.

Because Arsenal have so much possession, when they lose the ball Koscielny and Mertesacker have to win an aerial or foot race counter attack without other defensive cover. They're put on an island much more than other PL defenders, so there mistakes are more easily seen.

Koscielny is probably in the top 3 defenders in the PL, imo.

Williams is one of those players that would stand out at a mid table team but when thrown into a top 4 team where there is more pressure to win, plus champions league, I doubt he would be a standout "highly praised cb"

I agree. I don't rate Merte very highly, and Williams would've been a great 2nd/3rd choice CB. But it's time for Arsenal to invest in either Marquinhos or LaPorte

This isn't targeted at you KingNidge but I love how when Arsenal draw/lose a crucial game all their fans turn against Wenger and people start questioning players in their side. No doubt they could improve at the back and up front but it's so black and white, when Arsenal are in a purple patch of form and Giroud is on one of his scoring streaks nobody says anything.

I do agree Williams would be a good addition but I'm not sure he's a huge improvement on Mertesacker, both are relatively slow, Williams would be stronger of course but lacks the high that Mertesacker offers.

I personally think Gabriel is a good player and has the potential to be a top CB in the coming seasons.

Leicester defence V watford away (Schmeichel & fuchs)

    Or

My other defenders are: Daniels (new) alderwiereld (arse) Ivanovic (stoke)

I am ditching one for Siggy, most likely.
