The international break has afforded us some extra time to address some requested features in our Members Area and also to add a new index to allow easy assessment of our team statistics. Here’s a run-down of the updates rolled out earlier today…

Seamless Logins

Members should now only need to login once with their registration details on either the main site or the members area. This means that, once logged in, you can seamlessly move between the two sites.

Team Goal Index

To accompany our ICT (Influence, Creativity, Threat) Index to assess player performance, we’ve now added a new Index that allows quick assessment of a team’s likelihood to both score and concede goals.

The Index can be found in Team Stats > Fantasy Index and lists three figures for each team – Scoring, Conceding and then a simple calculation that offers the difference (Diff) between the two.

The Index uses a combination of Opta data including factors such as shots on target conceded in and outside the box, goal attempts in and outside the box and, of course, goals scored and conceded.

As usual the table can be sorted by any of these statistics and, using the Gameweek filters, members can slice the data and analyse teams over the season, a period of gameweeks and even specific gameweeks.

A Top Ten widget will soon be added to the Members Area dashboard allowing quick reference to those teams performing best in the Goal Index both over the season and for the latest Gameweek.

Improved Tooltips

We had a number of users requesting that we freeze the headers on tables making it easier to analyse stats when scrolling. While freezing the headers is something we will look into for next season, in the meantime we’ve given Members the ability to rollover any stat in a table and get a tooltip describing that stat.

We’ve produced a short movie previewing these new features here so Members and non-members alike can get a view on the additions and how they work.

We’ve a long list of Members improvements to come – we will be adding a Team News widget to the main site sidebar very soon, informing our members on the latest changes made to team news and predicted lineups.

Following that we have further Members Next Six Ticker improvements and we’ll be adding averages to our ICT Index, and allowing members to view trends as players rise above and fall below, their season average for each statistic.

For further details on the benefits of being a Member and to either upgrade your account or register as a Member, click here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Let's assume DVD misses the Villa game....how would this affect Adebawhore's output? Will Defoe just slot into the team?

From memory, Adebayor's largest scores have come from when VDV wasn't playing.

there arnt many options there, either defoe comes in for a 4-4-2, or they keep the same formation with kranjar drafted in but he's doubtful, or they play sandro as a holding mid and push modric for vdv slot.
but since they are playing at home i think defoe will simply slot into it

i already have him since week 1 with spurs (i knew about his strong starts with every team he ever joined) and vdv is also in my team but considering switching to nani for united coverage, just worried that nani will have played 2 official games for portugal in midweek, and if they dnt make to the euro im affraid he'd be rested for being "devastated" as is the trend in the united camp the days

If you have Rooney(who will hopefully be back up front soon with Cleverly back from injury) then I will keep DVD. ManU will have it tought vs Swans i think.

I just have a gut feeling about the Monday night game vs Villa. That and Ade not scoring for a couple of games and the fact he might actually do better without DVD.

            Just a gut feeling.

Klasnic. With Bolton's big name midfielders coming back in the nearish future Eagles could suffer rotation. Klasnic is more nailed on for me as Bolton have played well every time he played. Klasnic is also the biggest goal threat

I'm on my wc and thinking to go quite heavy on defence, altough everyone seems to be against it.
I can see real problems only if there comes a sudden urge to upgrade bendtner to someone like ade or suarez (I have rvp and rooney).

    So playing on that tranny button and if you have time, give me your toughts on this;

    Keepers Howard / Vorm

    a) Raylor / Jags / Wilkinson + Kompany & Enrigue
    b) BAE / Jags / Simpson + Kompany & Enrigue
    c) Raylor / BAE / Wilkinson + Kompany & Enrigue

Looking at newcastles fixtures, it's obvious I need to get rid of raylor or simpson. Gw12 - 20, there's only 16 and 17 when I definetely want
to play them, so maybe it's better to keep cheaper one and upgrade raylor to someone like BAE.

It might also be good idea to change Kompany to Jones, but not sure I want that uncertainty to my team...

    Cheers!

comes down to jags vs ekotto
many will prefer jagielka but i think BAE would a better choice
i can see jagielka conceding an odd goal in almost every game and the current tottenham side seem to keep more cleanies than the one we had last year.

u will need taylor back in ur side after gw 14 though.
      taylor>BAE now
      before gw 15- BAE>taylor

I'm of the opinion that, this season especially, there is not much value in DF. The big boys arent keeping clean sheets whereas players at Swansea, Newcastle, QPR, Stoke are actually getting clean sheets and sit high on the leaderboard for a fraction of the price.

So I peronally wouldnt bother with jags (Hibbert?) or BAE. Theres plenty of value at 4-4.5 who offer rotation options to partner your expensive defenders.

I'd do Kompany to Jones though.

        Thanks guys

But where I use the money saved from defence? I already have roo, rvp, silva and vdv.
I think bendtner will do better than suarez or adebayor in next 4 gws. Aguero is I can't afford and dzeko and balo, been there before with dzeko...
Same goes with sess and drenthe vs nani or mata.

Have to say that downgrading defence would give me some money on the bank, to be ready for snow and ice..

It's a nightmare this International week to be playing my WC. Literally all the big hitters bar RVP have some kind of doubt over them. Roon (position/form) Nani (form) Suarez (shooting) VDV (injury) Any city striker you care to name (rotation).

I hear you, in the same boat myself. Thinking of risking Dzeko despite rotation, it seems he is favored to play PL games. Sticking with VDV even though he might miss 1 game. Not into United Attack due to their defensive priorities at the moment. Not into Suarez mainly due to fixtures but form as well. Plenty of other tallent around though. Also to add to your list, Lampard is on 4 yellows so faces a suspension in the near future

I am als on wildcard... Have VDV but was cosnidering selling for bale (regardless of inj) to free up money for nani/young.

Personally I think he will now start to feature more after his injury.

He has just signed a new 5 year contract, with a lot of big clubs (Real) looking at him, so it suggests he has had little promised here and there 😉

And to be honest, even if he comes of the bench theres a fair chance he will score as no doubt united will be chasing a goal of sorts....

Plus he is WELL cheaper than Rooney.

            Like I said a united mid/fwd is a must for next 8 games... 😀 !!!

I am not considering him yet, but I am definately considering him and Pilkington as my fourth and fifth mids considering home/away rotation.

What do we think of this? (disregarding VDV's fitness)
    A. Silva Lampard VDV Ramsey Dyer
    Dzeko RVP Adebayor
    B. Silva Lampard Drenthe Ramsey Dyer
    Rooney RVP Adebayor
So Dzeko and VDV or Drenthe and Rooney - also considering I have no Man Utd attackers and Adebayor and Silva.

    Hello

    Please can you RMT?

    Given (vorm)

    Richards, Jones, Ward (Simpson, Gabbidon)

    Silva, Petrov, VDV, Moses (dyer)

    Rooney, RVP, Adebayor

I have one free transfer and 0.2m in the bank.

What do you think I should do?

I was thinking of doing one of the following:

    1. Given to Westwood

    2. Given to Westwood AND petrov to either Ramsey, drenthe or sessegnon (-4)

    Please vote ASAP!!!!

    Thanks

How about Petrov > Brunt for no hit.
On pens, proven FPL player and good fixtures.
Plus I see Fulham scoring a goal or two this week.
Then you can work on Given later.
          Food for thought.

brunt is a season keeper or dnt bother at all, wba will never have a good run of games this season as their fixtures list is always balanced.
not to mention that uder hodgson wba abandoned their conceed many, score more policy, they are now a balanced team and since they tend to play 4-4-2 most of the time, brunts potential will be ruined by defensive duties

It's just another bug in the system, Samir Nasri was showing as 9.5 on his profile page for me for a day or so after his drop to 9.4. His value in the transfer system was correct though, so it doesn't really affect anything.

You mean you want a funny status for facebook 😉 I got these sent a few weeks back -

Got some new aftershave today that smells like bread crumbs , the birds love it!

Tampax have announced today that they will be replacing the cord on their tampons with a piece of tinsel. This will be for the Christmas period only.

David Cameron has announced that he intends to make it more difficult to claim benefits. From next week all the forms will be printed in English.

Husband says to wife 'My Olympic condoms have arrived, I think I'll wear gold tonight' . Wife says 'why don't you wear silver and come second for a change'.

I was driving this morning when I saw an RAC van parked up. The driver was sobbing uncontrollably and looked very miserable. I thought to myself 'that guy's heading for a breakdown'.

An RAF fighter plane was flying over Afghanistan when he noticed a flying carpet on each side of his plane both with a machine gunner on board. Sensing danger he shot them down. Back at base he got a right bollocking apparently they were Allied Carpets!

On holiday recently in Spain I saw a sign that said 'English speaking Doctor' - I thought what a good idea, why don't we have them in our country.

The lead actor in the local pantomime Aladdin was sexually abused from behind on stage last night. To be fair the audience did try to warn him.

Same boat here. Love the articles and the increased functionality of the ticker but as for the actual Member's Area, I don't get on it much. I used the Projections preseason and do look at the Player Stats the odd time but that's about it. I'm not sure what to make of the ICT index.

I get the impression mata will finish the season with around 10 league goals & 10 asissts so am loathe to get rid. Id only really comsider uphrading him to lamps.

Maybe this is my problem though i am too blinkered in my faith in the special juan

I have Silva/DVD in mf as my other "big hitters" and feel Mata just do not produce high enough returns at his price. I can make 0.1m if i sell(not that influences me).

Mata 28 pts vs Silva 38pts in last 6. Yes, Mata got taken off after 45m vs QPR, but Silva only got 25min in a game during the same period.

I don't intend having a ManC striker so Silva gives me the (c) option when City have a decent fixture. Mata I will never capt.

I have 2 free trannies and 0.2m in the bank so can't really do much unless i sell Mata/Sturridge.

Plus i think Chelsea will have a very tough time vs Livpool this gw. If I'm not mistaken Mata(and Silva) still need to do some travelling to some remote destination for a game as well prior to the livpool game.

Just can't see Mata scoring well this week.

Yeah... I dont know, i have a nagging feeling that the gap between mata & silva is not as wide as it appears. 10 of silva's points came in stoppage time against a utd team that were all over the place... And the 2 sending offs for luiz & torres probably cost mata 2 points in terms of minutes, 1 or 2 in clean sheets, and any extra attacking returns... But yeah i suppose you can argue it any way you like, silva still has a lot more points.

Lamps is goddamn expensive though and i still think it makes sense to have chelski coverage.

I think this weekends transfer decisions will be one of those turning points in the season, hopefully i make the right calls... Still undecided!

If you can do Szczesney to Hennessey do you have enough to just do Ramsey to Silva?

If you can do that and keep Mata that may be worth doing.

Mata ain't great FPL value but if you have him and can afford to keep him then I'd keep him.

Yep thats definitely an option, food for thought...

Anyone else hoping for some injuries to reduce thw options a bit? Decison making is tough with so many potential options out there at the minute

You don't need injuries. Your team is OK.

May have to play a Newc defender during this bad spell of games they have coming up, but that's the price of doubling up, I'm afraid.

I'd be tempted to play Johnny Evans every week along with Jenny and Naylor, though. That way, if he plays you stand a good chance of a cleanie. If he doesn't then one of your Newc defs steps up in his place.

How has it been since then Flynn? The immobility from the initial injury can cause a big build of of collagen (scar tissue), this, if left for 3-4 weeks can develop into dysfunction syndrome, where the initial collagen toughens and becomes inflexible...did they cut away some soft tissue as well as some of the disc?

I was out of hospital the next day. Bad bruising and the scar tissue has still not fully gone. Unfortunately it took five years to get round to the Op and it looks like permanent damage to the sciatic nerve. The surgeon didn't mention soft tissue in our extensive three minute post op chat.

Doosra, it is termed a mechanical injury and the lesion responds very well to conservative (non-operative...mechanical techniques in this case)...do you know whether the prolapse was anterior or posterior? Have you had a McKenzie assessment? You really need to pay attention to your posture (particularly your lumbar curve whilst sitting) for the rest of your life! do you use an orthopeadic chair?

Was in A&E with my girlfriend on Thursday night as she could hardly walk on a bad hip. I was worried that it might be a disk but the doc's said that its just muscular. Back injuy sounds like a nasty business.

                  Anterior, and I know ... 🙂

No, I don't have an ortho chair - I found them to be a snare and delusion. We have nine hard dining room chairs, which work for me ...

Perhaps. Working in a pub, the cellar ceiling of which was too low. The doctor said that I had been overcompensating, and had probably done it in a Rugby match ...

Also, although I could run for a long time after, it was hell to bat for a long innings. Bowling was alright - and I'm a leggy!

I'd shop around for a good physio first mate...physios are much more concerned with evidenced based practice...chiropractitioners were considered an alternative medicine for a long time...they are more concerned with spinal manipulation, and if you don't get a very skilled practitioner, they can do more harm than good...physios also have manual techniques, but spinal accessory movements, IMO should not be undertaken in the acute phase, they can push the disc out further, when what is needed is some form of mechanical movement, usually extension at the lumbar spine for posterior prolapses (disc bulge towards the back of the body)...from an assessment a preferred movement can be ascertained, then we would work on this progressively to manipulate the disc back in place and to tease new collagen fibres into correct alignment with the parent tissue via specific exercises...look for a good physio mate...disc prolapses or herniations are just down their street

Since the op, are you still experiencing sciatic type pain? pins & needles? abnormal sensations? any pain at all? the scar tissue needs to be sorted asap, the longer you leave it, the more chance you have of developing dysfunction syndrome from inflexible scar tissue...you should have been referred to a physio post-op, but to be honest with this new health reform bill, free physio services are one of the first things to be cut, and for you it should have been absolutely critical to see a physio post-op

for any of you guys interested in how scar tissue forms, just google 'stages of healing' or 'stages of inflammation' It is at the heart of all musculo-skeletal physiotherapy intervention...

As bad as before Facer, am on Tramadol, Gabapentin ( amytriptalene before ) and Co-Dydramol. Calf is super sensitive unable to touch it much of the time. Burning pain from calf to achilles and heel Front of foot centre three toes and top of foot numb. Like teeth after injection. Actual spinal pain is minimal and increases through the right buttock. Top of right leg little or no pain.

Keeping Baines then? I'm tempted I must admit.

Everton are the only team with 4 home games in the next 6. And then there's the double in GW20.

If Baines doesn't work out, it's an expensive liability. And he's hardly been productive this season, even though I thought the loss of Arteta would help him ie penalties, free kicks etc.

vidic and baines are simply too expensive and will end up destroying my midfield

as for vermaelen, i won't bring him in until or unless we show more stability at the back
i think we are going to concede in all the upcoming fixtures . the fulham game being an exception.
that odd goal every now and then is not worth it the expensive price tag imo

Going for a big hitter in defence hasn't paid itself off this season. Chelsea has had very few cleanies this year, Baines has only scored 6 or more twice this season and Arsenal is clinically retarded at defending set pieces. Not worth it really

Why do you NEED to get rid of Rooney for?

Bosingwa out is your first priority.

Also, what game are you playing that allows you 4 strikers?

Morning all, thinking it might be time to take an 8 point hit here:

    Given Kenny
    Jose Evans Walker Saylor Woodgate
    Silva Nani Eagles Dyer Cabaye
    Suarez RVP Ade

The defense and Goalkeepers look pretty disgusting and are in need of work, I need to lose Cabaye and my plan was to do that for Drente but i'm not so sure now. I also have seen enough of Suarez but could probably be talked into keeping him..

To be fair i don't really take 8 point hits and to shuffle up a defense probably ewon't.

Its just deciding on which two transfers are the most pressing, bringing in Evans last week was mind blowingly stupid waste of a transfer..

You have Jenny, Walker and Woodgate for the next few weeks, which is fine. Evans prob plays a few times as well but is more of a risk.

Given to Vorm should be your first move. Get Drenthe in for Cabaye for a 4 pt hit and it looks good from there.
