Jason Puncheon returns in time for Palace’s cup clash with Reading this evening. Riyahd Mahrez has fully recovered from the cramp that led to his withdrawal at Watford, Shane Long is back for Southampton’s trip to Stoke, whilst Aaron Lennon remains a doubt as Everton square up to Chelsea in the last eight of the FA Cup.

Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that Riyad Mahrez has fully recovered from the cramp that saw him withdrawn late on against Watford last Saturday evening. Matty James is the only absentee for the Foxes clash with Newcastle on Monday.

Per Mertesacker and Gabriel have both recovered from the injuries that forced them off against Hull on Tuesday night. Laurent Koscielny has “a little chance” of making Sunday’s cup clash with Watford, whilst Arsene Wenger went on to reveal that Aaron Ramsey’s thigh problem is “a small alert”, though the Gunners have yet to establish a full prognosis.

Jason Puncheon is available for Palace’s cup clash with Reading tonight. Connor Wickham remains ruled out with a thigh injury and is expected back in time for the Gameweek 32 clash against West Ham in early April. Wayne Hennessey is back in contention after missing out with a minor injury last weekend.

Aaron Lennon is “progressing well” from a hamstring injury but remains a doubt for Everton’s cup clash with Chelsea. Bryan Oviedo is a doubt after picking up a chest infection, though Tom Cleverley and Gareth Barry have both recovered from similar complaints. Kevin Mirallas serves the first of a two-match ban for the Toffees.

Shane Long has recovered from a knee injury in time for Southampton’s trip to Stoke. Skipper Jose Fonte sits this one out after being sent off against Sunderland last week, whilst Jay Rodriguez is set to step up his fitness by turning out for the reserves next week.

Eddie Howe has confirmed that he’ll make a late decision on the fitness of Harry Arter. The Bournemouth boss revealed that Josh King is playing with a knock, though Junior Stanislas remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

    Am I GTG?
    My ML leader is 48pts above and already Wildcarded and can only field 9 players this week, but I'm still afraid he takes 2 hits and get in players with better output..like Silva and Yaya, which I don't have.
    My team is as follows;

    Hart
    Williams - VVD - Toby - Huth
    Mahrez - Alli - Arnie
    Vardy - Kun - Kane(c)

    I know this is a repost, but I'm still confused.

    Butland, (Myhill*)
    Toby, VvD, Simpson, Francis (Monreal*)
    Mahrez, Silva, Siggy, Gosling (Payet*)
    Kane, Kun, Vardy

    1FT and 1.1 ITB

    Should I:

    A. Save FT and play Gosling or Francis
    B. Payet to Eriksen
    C. Payet to Alli (I'm leaning towards this one)
    D. Gosling to Ritchie.

    Thanks all

    With likely Arsenal and Palace wins this weekend, the likely GW33 WC is almost impossible to achieve 15DGWers and 11GW34 players. Whereas 15 in DGW37 looks more achievable. No?

      my thoughts to, could have to many blank players after 34,would be gutting to have 15 dgw players in 34, for it to be decimated in 35, need to wait for cup results and dgw fixtures

        I need to make 1 FT to field 11. Was thinking of WC in GW33 but seems better to plan transfers, get 11DGW34s and still have 11 playing in GW35. Then get 15 DGWers in 37 with no blanks after to consider

    Strugling to decide which def to bring in for next 3 gws. Kompany, Williams, Daniels or Pieters.

    So which one is better indicator of good / weak defence? SiB conceded or BC conceded?

    Was almost set on Lingard to Eriksen to have a mid of Silva, Mahrez, Siggy & Eriksen.

    Daily topic has got me thinking now. Ritchie, Shaqiri, Arnie etc could all be differentials & I could do with one chasing a 53 point lead!

    So I screwed my team by having NO Mahrez and 3x LEI a while back. 2FTs and currently with 8 playing. So should I:

    a) Take a hit to shift Huth and Bring Mahrez & Silva In for Sanchez & Payet
    b) Buy a big sofa, use 2FTs to just bring in Siggy & Silva, keeping Huth and no Mahrez

    (Wildcarding in Week 33) £0.3m ITB

    Schmeich
    Walker Huth Richards (lol) Bellerin* Fonte*

    Prophet that's a crazy idea...

    Imagine if FPL introduced a 25% cap on player ownership next year?

    First 25% of managers to own a player have first dibs on their points.. latecomers have to look elsewhere.. They'd have to delete dead teams (or just not count them?) but it would completely change the dynamic of the game.

      If they refined the valuation system, no player would have more than 25% ownership anyway.

      Yea, that would be completely ridiculous. Being a maverick and jumping on players early could pay off hefty dividends. Like for example Mahrez this year.

    Sure this has been much discussed but I'm still really torn on Kun v Kane for (c) this week - would normally stick with Kun but Villa are so abject - who are you all (c)ing and why?

      Kane for me.
      Looking at the team they lined up against Dortmund in EL yesterday, you can clearly see that the PL is their top priority. Gonna blitz villa imo

    Goals conceded in their last five;

    Villa = 15
    New = 12
    Nor = 8

    Starting with Villa, they sit at the bottom of the table and meet Spurs who are a little off at the moment - main goal threat is Harry Kane who has only scored 2 in 5. Spurs have scored 9 goals in their last 5 away games.

    Managerless Newcastle meet Leicester at the King Power - 12 goals conceded in their last 5 as well as 11 goals in their last 5 away games make this look the most appealing game for a captaincy shout. Mahrez or Vardy, but who? Vardy only has one goal in his last 5 while Mahrez has two goals and two assists. Vardy on spot kicks however.

    Norwich come up against City at home. Norwich have became much more defensively minded of late conceding only 8 goals in their last 5 (a few weeks ago I remember it was 16 goals in 5) - City's form away from home is questionable but with Sergio Aguero in explosive form it may be dangerous taking the captaincy from him. Aguero has played a lot of football with very little rest but with City chasing I'd say he will definitely play at least 70 minutes.

    Based on the numbers and logic, in my opinion this is order of captain candidacy choice;

    Mahrez
    Kane
    Vardy
    Aguero

      I'd go along with that order myself, not much in it but I'm going Mahrez for Monday Night Football..

      Aguero is always the number one choice home or away when facing a team so close to the bottom of the table (In my opinion)

      Newcastle not technically managerless, though are they? Which might end up being worse. Caretakers often grind out an unexpectedly tight result (remember Keith Millen at Palace and Sbragia at Sunderland a few years back doing it against Man Utd I think), so I'm on Kane right now. If Newcastle still have a dead man walking in McClaren in the dugout on Monday, I'll lump on one of the Leicester boys, though.

      Save, unless you're planning on getting a City defender in anyway.. Wouldn't be too confident in Southampton double up.

      I'd be tempted by Cedric to Kompany. Gives you another DGWer and less downside if Southampton conced.

    So bearing in mind I now possibly have one fit playing defender due to Fonte red card and Danny Rose injury I have one FT and 1.7 itb. My remaining active defender is VVD and I own Forster. Do I

    a. No transfer go in with 9 players
    b. Fonte to Simpson with my FT and have a bit more free cash available for the DGW's and hope Rose is fit enough
    c. Take a hit for 2 active defenders (Simpson & Kompany?)

    I just do not know

    Any thoughts on the following most appreciated...

    I'm thinking using my FT to do Ighlo > Kane (avl, BOU, liv) but will still only be able to field 10 and that's playing both Target and Richards 🙁

    If I'm looking to WC GW33 should I now take a 4pt hit to bring to bring in Siggy (bou, AVL, sto) for one of the blankers below and if so which?

    1) Sanchez (eve, WAT)
    2) Payet (che,CPL)
    3) Firminio (sot, TOT)

    I could even be tempted to take a .8 hit for somthing like Payet > Siggy & Richards > Wolly or Sanchez >Siggy & Richards to Kompany

    1. Irish Madridista ⭐
      • 15 Years

      Yup, for Firmino imo.

      100% not Payet.
