The recent performances of Micah Richards have seen an upturn in Fantasy ownership, with the Man City right-back now second only to Ryan Taylor for top-scoring defenders. A return of 54 points, compared to Vincent Kompany’s 42, has suggested he may well be the defender of choice for those considering investment in the Man City back-four.

Roberto Mancini’s team selection for City’s league games has clearly helped Richards’ prospects. As Fabio Capello continues to ignore Richards as a viable defensive alternative for the England set-up, Mancini’s thinking seems similar- only once has he selected the player for European competition, preferring Pablo Zabaleta as his first-choice right-back for Champions League affairs.

While most of the City squad is prone to rotation, Richards has played eleven of their twelve games to date, with ten of those appearances coming from the start. A look at the other City full-backs shows Gael Clichy on 8 starts, Aleksandar Kolarov on 4, with Zabaleta selected only twice for domestic matters. It’s becoming obvious as the season unfolds that Richards’ power down the flank is certainly perceived as more beneficial to City’s league campaign by his manager.

We take a look at his season to date, compared with last time round, to ascertain just why there’s been such an improvement in Richards as a Fantasy proposition:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Richards is a real tempter...

    HOWEVER

It must be said e probably won't get as many PL starts once City go out of the UCL in a week and a half's time 🙂 🙂 🙂

...and they have 3 shocking fixtures in the next 4. Don't see any clean sheets in them, and even Norwich look like they can score against anyone. Verm or P Jones for me.

Perhaps, but then I can see the same for P Jones/Vermaelen, and I fancy them to get the cleanies too. That said, M Richards is almost definitely in my Jan wildcard team.

Going off topic..just played a tenner on this accumulator and got 10/1..only one I'm unsure of is Deportivo.Anyone know their stuff about the Spanish second division?

    Deportivo to beat Almeria
    Arsenal to beat Fulham
    Chelsea to beat Wolves
    Spurs to beat Westbrom
and David Ferrer to beat Tomas Berdych 🙂

Subs in order are: Woodgate, Reo-Coker, Simpson.

Not exactly Galacticos are they. With VDV looking like he'll miss out, worth a points hit -> Nani or Bale?

Keith, if you already had DVD for a much cheaper price, then WC or not, you'll lose money if you try to get him back. If you didn't have him pre-WC, then switch to Young, ready to switch back when DVD goes big at the Lane next GW. 🙂

To anyone thinking of selling VDV, he's usually not out for a long period of time when injured, and last season he had a knack of scoring well when coming back from injury, so I'd be wary.

So is Chico or Adebayor a better prospect going forward?

Chico arguably more consistant but Spurs scoring more goals. It's a toughie.

I've been wondering, what happened to Macaulay Culkin?

This question is apt as over the next month or so no doubt Home Alone will be on. Or maybe Home Alone 3 as it's cheaper to broadcast cos' it's got that little rat kid in it.

So considerin vdv out my wildcard team is
    Vorm Sorenson
    Baines Jones Richards Enrique Simpson
    Silva Bale Walters Sinclair Pilkington
    Rvp Adebayor Ba

With VDV out.. Lamps playin deep.. Nani a rotation risk.. Rooney out of form.. Aguero with tough fixtures and the threat of rotation.. i’ve no option but to spend money in defense and make an all round strong team in preparation for christmas..

I wouldn't take the points hit to be honest. Can't see much value in any replacements at that price over the next few weeks besides maybe Rangel. Can you work an Everton defender (Jags) in combined with a downgrade of Ramsey to a cheaper mid (e.g O'Hara) next week? I'm doing something similar with Walters & ShawX.

I have 4 of your front 7 and have concerns over VDV/Ramsey/RVP as I think one of the latter 2 will be rested.

    Jones Woodgate Brown (enrique) (simpson)

    Silva VDV Pilkington Walters (Drenthe)

    RVP (c) Aguero Bendtner

2-- Jones and Woodgate might not start.. although, jones might come on for a brief stint... any transfers for a 4 pointer anyone can see there??? Have simpson and Enrique on the bench

3--Batman (C) might also not start... was thinking of captaining VDV but even he's injured so need to go with Batman... agreed that he might come on and score but not feeling too good about it...

Damn VdV's hamstring. Think I'm going to bring in Bale for him. Can't see VdV playing every game over Christmas with a dodgy hamstring.

tempted to go with Vorm Krul in my wildcard team.. however i;d only use Krul 3 games till the next wildcard.. vs SWA WBA and QPR at home.. when vorm has... new eve ARS in those weeks.. worth paying 0.6 more than ruddy just for those 3 weeks? or do i save the 0.6 and go with ruddy?

with RafaVdV and Rooney both doubts for the weekend - should i:
    a) stick with original plan and make no transfer -leaving Kompany + Moses to come in as subs (2free next week)
    b) do Moses -> Allen...who'd then come in as 1st sub (swa's fixtures quite good)
    c) Ditch Wayne -> Hernandez or VdV-> Bale

    Given - (Ruddy)
    Walker - Vermalean - Wilkinson - (Enrique) - (Simpson)
    Ramsey - VDV - Silva - Walters - (Ferguson)
    RVP - Adebayor - Bendtner

2.1m in the bank - keeping Given for one more GW

    1) Ferguson to Allen
    2) Simpson to Brown
    3) 4point hit - Walker to Brown ... Ramsey to Bale
    4) Keep transfer * think I might just do this.
    5) Other

Ade was 2nd on pens behind RVP at Arsenal. And I think he took some for MCY before Tevez arrived. I'd say he's most likely to get them. Free-kicks i'd say Bale/Modric will share.

    Not sure about this week..

    Given Kenny
    Woodgate Walker Jose Evans Saylor
    Silva Nani Dyer Eagles Drente
    Holliet RVP Ade

    Got a few options:

    1) switch a keeper, not overly keen on this given the lack of clean sheets about and Paddy could do a job this week
    2) lose Evans/Woodgate for Vermaelen/Santos/Jones
    3) Sub Nathan Dyer out for Walcott/Bale

    Cheers very much

Dan why'd you do that when Balo could easily be rested this GW, which means Kun is on Penos.

Also, I'm not high on Roonpig like other people around here cos he could easily play CM with Welbeck back and Anderson & Cleverley injured. To every man, his own..

Well I am very fond of Rooney fixtures and I believe that Aguero won't play against Nor. City have fixture pile up. I also think that the time has come for City to loose some points. With the fixtures I am not happy to have 3 City players atm.
