Our Watchlist rankings have had a quick-fire update following last night’s action, which effectively saw the passing of another of Gameweek. No doubt tonight’s events will bring further changes, but those looking for a quick guide to some mid-term player recommendations can take a glance in their sidebar on the frontpage for our latest rankings.

The headlines include Rafael Van der Vaart’s climb to the top of the Midfielders, thanks in no small part to another goal last night, the injury doubt surrounding Nani (who will re-enter our rankings once we know more) and the continued dip in form for Chelsea’s Florent Malouda…

Improved fixtures for Wolves, Bolton, Liverpool and Man City from Gameweek 13 onwards, has their players all enjoying climbs up our tables across the positions. Marcus Hahnemann appears to offer strong value in the Goalkeeper category, while in front of him we’ve currently gone for Christophe Berra with doubt surrounding the continued starting roles of Richard Stearman and Kevin Foley. Matt Jarvis in Midfield and Kevin Doyle in the Forwards, also climb the table as a result of their promising run of opponents following tonight’s clash with Arsenal.

The Bolton pairing of Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander have climbed to their highest position of the season. Their run of form coincides with a decent run of fixtures which should add up to continued returns in the coming weeks. West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie is sandwiched in between; he’s expected to return against West Ham tonight and looks a strong proposition at 5.1 in the Fantasy Premier League game, with some obliging defences heading his way over the next six Gameweeks.

We will bring you news of any notable changes as a result of tonight’s matches and over the next 48 hours we will be looking closer at a couple of our most notable movers in the rankings.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Berbatov->Elmander
    Albrigton->VDV
    Dann->4.5 defender

    any thoughts?

      I do like the first two.

      I assume you're selling Dann for financial reasons? If not...I wouldn't take and just wait until next week. Althouh if you're looking for 4.5 defenders suggest Foley and saving a few squids.

      not bad, nice actually, your strike force has a load of money in it, so making this change will only help balance things out, and it does seem vdv is ... the MAN

      4.5 defender, coleman is a good short term move,(sorry hes 4.8 , wow, when did that happen!!)
      hutton also 4.8, but worth the extra

      at 4.5 you are limited to people like givet and alcaraz, i have givet

      silva has started 6 of the last 7, is on some set pieces and is now man city's chief creative force. they seem to switch him between a wide role and a role just behind the front 1 or 2. either way it's an attacking role. he's been far an away city's best player in october

    Got a response from FPL regarding Ethers assist, wholly unsatisfactory obviously. They have judged that the deflections did not significantly alter the speed or direction of the ball. Predictably complete rubbish.

    Hi there
    Etherington has been awarded an assist for Stoke City's third goal against Birmingham, scored by Whitehead. He crossed the ball along the ground towards Whitehead and the ball took 2 deflections before reaching Whitehead, who scored. As the ball was travelling towards Whitehead before the deflections and, as such, the deflections did not significantly alter the speed or direction of the ball, an assist was awarded.

    From the rules:
    These are awarded to the player from the goal scoring team who makes the last pass before a goal is scored.
    If during this pass, an opposing player significantly alters the speed or direction of the ball, then no assist is given except if this intervention directly results in an own goal.
    The Press Association provide all the data for our games, and we will pass your comments on to them.

    However as it states in the rules:
    "Neither we nor the Press Association will enter into any correspondence relating to the allocation of points to players."
    Regards FPL

            The thing is all the big Fantasy Games will rely on a data provider for their assists. The FPL use the Press Association, some like the Metro game, use Opta.

            It's the decision of these Data Providers which dictates the points awarded in our Fantasy Games.

            They could of course chose to overrule their Data Providers but I imagine once you start doing that, you set a dangerous precedence and it will cause issues with the feed updates that the Fantasy Games get direct from the providers after each match.

        Most inconsistent game I have played. TFF is shite but at least they remoced the bps and are very consistent in the way they give assists (was not given yday for Ether). Anyway, it is still the best FF game around but they have to address those issues

          No, they don't have to address anything. They've got the biggest game in the world. Why would they care what a few people who take it far too seriously think?

          I emailed them once last year and felt like an utter tw4t afterwards. I won't be doing it again.

      Jarvis has good fixtures and could be a differential. To go really cheap you could go for Albrighton or try another differential by the name of Barry Bannan - due to have a run in the Villa midfield because of injuries to Petrov and Sidwell (long term) and Reo Coker (short term). Only 4.5m. Not good fixtures coming up though.

    gonna miss the games tonight as have a match. was gonna dodge it but feck it, i dont mind missing it. ALthough, it would have been nice to have come on here when stephen Hunt scores and fabregas does nothing...You see, in a moment of genius, one i will be associated with forever, and will be written on my tombstone, i transferred one cesc fabregas OUT, and brought one terrier Hunt IN.

        Paul Merson once bet something like £150,000 for Holland to beat Czech Republic when the score was 2-0 Holland with 20 mins to go. Odds of something like 10/1 on. Final score Holland 2-2 Czech Republic.

          It's not often it happens that the teams are announced before the deadline so there were a number of people waiting to see teams before making final decisions, hardly fair to call them simpletons! I've said this before but this site was great for advice and info which with you then make your own choices.It's a bad day if every bit of info on here has to checked and double-checked.

                Fair enough. The fact that his 'team news' was announced well over an hour before kick off should have struck people as odd. My point is that you should check what people on here say, since the place is full of wind-up merchants.

    so after all the rubbish and bullshit last weeekend and the one beofre, from last nights TWO games, we have the following;

    -no assist for stephen carr, or zigic, one of then surely should have got something.

    -an assist for etherington, when, like evra a few weeks ago, the ball was travelling in a completely different direction before being deflected into the strikers path, therefore was NOT intended.

    -Ricardo fuller scores the goal of the month, of half a season, and assists, and menaces the birmingham defence, and gets nothing in the bonus allocation.

    I wonder how many more inconsite cies and fuk ups there will be tonight. Its ableeding joke.

    Hi. I've got 2 free transfers, team currently look like this

    Hart, Gilks
    Coleman, Bos, Vidic, Elmo, Richards
    Fab, N'zog, Nani, Bale, Beausejour
    Drogba, Carroll, Hernandez

    Took a risk on Beausejour but him Bale, Hernandez, Richards and Bos are up for the chop

    Think i'll keep Bale for now given his home fixtures.

    So thinking downgrade Richards/Bos to Simpson then upgrade middle and make cash by downgrading Hernandez

    What does everyone think? Any other blatant problems that I'm overlooking?

    i mqade this point above. I havetn emailed anyone about assists this week, im not arsedbeing the public defender today or yesterday, but i feel i have a very valid comparison to nake, so ill repost it;

    fair enough, it is only a game. But if you play monopoly at christmas, and someone gets houses and hotels for half price, youd be a bit miffed wouldnt you? Whats the point in playing if there's no consistency to the rules? Why roll the dice, why not just move where you want, never landing on opponents, the game would go on for eternity. WIthout rules, and consitency, there's anarchy. And you dont spend One Hundreth the time on Monopoly, or whatever, at Christmas, as you do on this. think about it.

      i will happily email if it's mistaken identity. deflections on assists are debateable so i wont bother but who passes the ball is not debateable. it's not a fair game if the wrong player get credited with an assist, and is quite humourous when they mistake yaya toure with wee david silva. unfortunately a few weeks ago they gave stephen flecther an assist for a david edwards pass which they never changed.

      That's fair enough but we all know the 'rule': what FPL decides, goes. People aren't emailing FPL to try and get a handle on what the rules are, they're emailing as they want the assist taken away, simple as that. To think they'll change score allocations due to a few emails is daft.

          What makes you think they changed the allocation due to a few emails RBJ? Given that they usually respond to emails with a pro-forma response (basically ignoring the correspondence), isn't the more likely explanation that, on the few occasions they have changed it, it's been due to some independent thought/review at their end?

    Bale and Mummy to Simpson and VDV this week.. leaves 0.0 in the bank
    Next week
    Dann to Steinsson(has 6 very winnable home games in the next 12)
    leaves me with
    Robinson
    Alex Coleman Steinsson Simpson Jara
    Fabregas VDV Nani Arteta Barton
    Drogba Tevez Carroll

    will play 3-4-3 every week.. with alex and coleman fixtures in defense and steinsson a fixture for home games.. with jara and simpson always offerin a home game off the bench whenever required.. plus barton prob the best sub mid to have too..

      I think that's a great team -- so long as Coleman keeps playing.

    about 7 weeks late here, but for the weekend, with the rest of my squad finally built (for now), I can finally drop stockdale and bring in a 2nd keeper. Only 4.1 to play with. Who do you guys like this weekend?

    Alhabsi home to WBA
    Gilks away to West Ham
    Krul home to Fulham
    Carson away to Wigan

    all these options seem more promising than my usual starter robinson away to spurs.

      I'd pick someone to dovetail with Robbo over the medium term.

      Let me have a look and see who that might be...

        Krul alternates home fixtures with Robbo over the next 8 weeks, not brilliant GW15 mun/CHE though.

        On strength of opponents I'd say Wigan give you the best cover out of the cheapies.

          Al Habsi it is, now i just have to risk the temptation of making the move before the end of wigans match, I wont make that mistake again.

      Al Habsi. Gives a solid choice for the next few weeks when Robinson has difficult fixtures plus he rotates quite well.

        Al-Habsi was my #1 pick after looking at things, nice to have someone think similarly. Hard to get those first 2 wigan drubbings out of ones head, but he wasnt a part of that and actually ranks pretty high in points per game amongst regular starters. Cheers.
