Eden Hazard continues his fine recent form with a fourth goal in as many league outings. Lamine Kone scores twice and Patrick van Aanholt bags a sixth of the season as Sunderland pull off another great escape, whilst Nathan Redmond and Dieumerci Mbokani bring in the points as relegated Norwich put four past Watford.

Hazard nets again

Chelsea lay claim to just one win in six following their draw on Merseyside.

Eden Hazard opened the scoring (Baba Rahman assist) for the visitors with his fourth goal in as many appearances. Shifted into a central support role as the fit-again Pedro took over on the left, the 10.9-priced Belgian has played with renewed confidence in recent weeks but next faces a Leicester City defence that’s conceded just 10 goals since Gameweek 20.

In the absence of Diego Costa (hamstring injury) and Branislav Ivanovic (groin), Bertrand Traore spearheaded Chelsea’s attack and John Obi Mikel filled in at centre-back. Costa is not expected to be passed fit for the Foxes match-up, which shines a spotlight on Traore’s out-of-position potential at the 5.4 mark in Guus Hiddink’s final match in charge before Antonio Conte takes over in the summer.

Benteke salvages point for Reds

Liverpool named a full-strength XI that left it late to rescue a point at Anfield.

True to his word, Jurgen Klopp recalled his first-teamers for the Blues’ visit. The manager’s assertion that fresh legs will be deployed at West Bromwich Albion this weekend is likely to trigger significant sales of his regulars prior to Sunday’s deadline.

Christian Benteke equalised (Sheyi Ojo assist) for the Reds in stoppage time, marking the third time in as many appearances that he’s produced attacking returns (two goals, one assist). The big Belgian looks in line to be unleashed from the off at the Hawthorns this weekend, with Klopp clearly intent on keeping last night’s starters fresh for next Wednesday’s Europa League final against Sevilla.

Kone brace secure Black Cats’ survival

Sunderland secured their top-flight survival with a resounding 3-0 victory over a hapless Everton unit.

The Wearsiders’ defence caused the damage, with Patrick van Aanholt’s sixth goal of the campaign satisfying his 65,000 new backers. Lamine Kone then opened his Premier League account with a brace at the Stadium of Light – the winter signing ended as the highest-scoring player in double Gameweek 37 after racking up 21 points. Both men profited from Sunderland’s fourth shut-out in seven outings, which holds them in good stead against an inconsistent Watford attack.

Jermain Defoe and Yann M’Vila bagged an assist apiece. The former registered 10 points across the double and has now produced attacking returns in four of his last five starts, encouraging owners to retain his services for Sunday’s trip to Vicarage Road.

Canaries drop into Championship

Despite recovering from their slump and recording a 4-2 home win over Watford, Norwich were consigned to relegation by way of Sunderland’s victory.

Alex Neil made four changes for the Hornets’ visit, with Sebastien Bassong and Robbie Brady dropping to the bench. Dieumerci Mbokani reclaimed a starting berth up top and netted a brace, meaning he’s bagged three goals in his previous quartet of starts. Considering that Everton – who shipped 11 goals in their last four outings – are next on the Canaries’ agenda, the DR Congo international harbours differential appeal in the final Gameweek.

The same can be said of Nathan Redmond, who rewarded over 7,000 new suitors with a goal and two assists last night – indeed, he ended up as the highest scoring midfielder over the double with a total of 17 points. Wes Hoolahan and Steven Naismith also turned provider for a goal apiece.

Deeney in the points again

Watford fell to their third successive road defeat after being picked apart at Carrow Road.

Troy Deeney notched a goal and assist, gratifying 42,000 Fantasy managers that acquired him prior to Watford’s double Gameweek. Given that the Hornets welcome Sunderland on the final day, his 7% ownership will likely feel inclined to retain the in-form marksman.

Odion Ighalo scored his 16th goal of the season to arrest a 12-match barren streak. Nonetheless, he chalked up three fewer shots on target (four compared to seven) than Deeney across their previous four fixtures, underlining his slide down the hierarchy.

Craig Cathcart’s 6,400 new owners were left exasperated by the Northern Ireland international’s own goal. Watford recorded a solitary clean sheet in their last 10 match-ups, negating the attraction of their budget defenders.

Repost as I have no idea where it went the first try.....

Just woke up and seen the the rankings.

After having a horrible season I pulled my WC in 26 and thought, screw this now I'm gonna hage fun. Were ranked 750k then.
Now I have taken hits worth 56 points just in the 5 last weeks as I had to navigate the dgw's without WC and yet I now have my best rank of the season. Still a shy 186k but the fun I've had these last weeks makes it worth so much more

I was around 70 behind ML leader couple of weeks ago and now only 10 so my plans for a couple of hits have changed.
    Differences are -
    Me - DDG/Foster
    Mangala/Gabriel
    Sanchez/Hazard
    Sturridge/Deofe

    Him - Gomes/Hennessey
    Alder/Dier
    Ozil/Barkley
    Aguero/Lukaku

Would do you reckon I should do?
    A: Sturridge - Aguero
    B: bring in Tadic
C: Gabriel and Sturridge out for -4 to bring in Giroud
    D: any combo

Apologies for the long post! Cheers

I'd go A out of those, can see Aguero getting something and can't see Sturridge starting.

Giroud might be a good shout, but not sure spending -4 for him is necessarily going to pay off.

Got a green with a TC fail!

      Consider this:
      Payet TC/Caroll = 39pts
      Caroll TC/Payet = 21 pts
A difference of 18 pts, if you owned PVA he more/less offsets the Epic Donkey fail!

Is anyone considering Iheanacho as a cheeky punt/enabler? He's my way of getting in Martial and KDB for -8 an ALL GUNS BLAZING end to a poor season.

Started off terribly and couldn't pick a captain until last 2 months, but now climbed from 1.8m to 640k in 8 weeks with mostly greens.

It would be Studge, Caroll, Antonio to Iheanacho, Martial and KDB, leaving me with:

    Mignolet/Schmeichel
    Smalling Monreal PVA/Rose (Simpson)
    Sanchez Payet KDB Mane (MAhrez)
    Aguero Iheanacho Martial

Man City should be up for goals, and Martial looked sharp and UTD have to win.

I'm second in ML and 11 points adrift. My current team is:

    Mannone (Robles)
    Bellerin Alderweireld Smalling (Morgan) (Gabriel)
    Sanchez Hazard Mahrez Payet (Lingard)
    Aguero Kane Carroll

    His team:
    Cech (Schmeichel)
Cresswell Smalling Alderweireld (van Dijk) (Baines)
    Sanchez, Mahrez, Noble, Arnautovic (Ozil)
    Vardy Kane Carroll

I have one FT, 0.2 ITB, should I:
    A) Carroll -> Defoe
    B) Carroll -> Long
    C) Carroll -> Rashford
    D) Mahrez -> Tadic

I know he is going to captain Sanchez but should I:
    1) Captain Sanchez and hope the rest of the team make up the difference
    2) Captain Aguero

    De Gea (Darlow)
    Smalling, Bellerin (PVA, Rose, Delaney)
    Sanchez, Hazard, Payet, Townsend, Firmino**
    Kane, Defoe, Carroll**

AOA activated. 2 frees and 0.3 in the bank.

Worth playing Rose or PVA instead of doubling up with Smalling?

Firmino is surely rested and kind of keen to see the back of Carroll. So I have 15m to spend on a midfielder and a forward.

    Rough price points:
    Giroud & 6.3m mid
    Mané & 7.6m forward
    De Bruyne & 4.7m forward
If I get Aguero it means finding 6.5m from one or two midfielders(-4)

Suggestions appreciated as there is 15 points separating the top 3 in my mini league with cash to play for.

While the chips (and the hot topic suggestions) may be great for us hardcore players dont you think they're taking some of the fun out of mini leagues?
When im talking fantasy football to real life opponents as oppose to internet gravs its more about showing off footy knowledge than fpl knowledge. Its almost embarrassing beating a real life friend/collegue by 100pts in a week just coz they put no thought into bench boosting

At least everyone gets 1 per season in the classic ML, so it's a level playing field - so I'm not so sure it's taking the fun out of these leagues. It's in the H2Hs where I'd like to see it ignored.

Yeah, I mean part of the fun of MLs and the games within a game we participate in through this site is that you can run them alongside the main FPL game without adversely affecting your OR. But chips can create a conflict of interests - do you use them to aim for a better OR or to get past a tricky opponent in a parallel game?

Plus I don't see what's wrong with the basic FPL game. Even WCs seem an unnecessary distraction, really.

there will always be some people that take any competition much more seriously than others. The chips at least give some of the less serious players something to keep them interested later in the season.

Suppose I've considered that, but the counter is that Arsenal may go bonkers against Villa & that it'd be daft, budget etc permitting, not to start three of their players.

Agree on that, but not unlikely that the likes of Cazorla, Wilshere, Walcott and even Rosicky will get a run out. Then I think Iwobi is the one making the way. Besides, having seen most Arsenal games lately, Iwobi don't have the spark he did the first three/four games.

Another funny thing is that ppl were wishing he would get a TGW.
      Imagine the whining.....

There would be more than whining going on haha.

It would probably send the site crashing.

to be fair to yourself, he was rested for one of the 34 games.

Still, I will not touch him with a bargepole ever again.

But that's some lawyer sheet to save me. Personally, I would admit that substantially, he blanked all DGW's despite playing.

Good morning, some advice needed please -

I currently have a 15 point lead in a mini league

    My Team for GW 38 - 1FT, 1.8m itb

    DDG
    Smalling / Bellerin / Gabriel
    Hazard / Payet / Alexis / Lanzini
    Kun / Defoe / Carroll*

    Bench - Robles / Firmino* / PvA / F-Mensah

    His current team - 1ft, 0.1m itb

    Cech
Smalling / Bellerin / Toby or PvA
    Hazard / Payet / Mahrez / Antonio*
    Kun / Defoe / Kane

Bench - Mannone / Toby or PvA / Firmino* / Cresswell

So I think I'll be captaining Kun as he won't be able to get Alexis in without a hit and losing a big hitter. Should my transfer be to remove Firmino or Carroll or possibly both for a hit? Tadic & Vardy are top of my watchlist at the moment. I imagine he'll just transfer Firmino or Antonio out.

    a) Firmino > Tadic
    b) Carroll > Vardy/Benteke/Long or someone else up to 8.3m
    c) Firm & Carroll > Tadic & striker and bench Lanzini
    d) Something else

    Cheers

I'd be quite interested in something along the lines of c), getting Kane in if budget permits? Kane looks like villain's main hope of a differential over you?

sorry, I see that budget doesn't permit. But Kane would definitely be my worry in your shoes.

Would leave me with 6.3m for a midfielder. Arnautovic perhaps- cheers for the suggestion

I am happy enough only dropping 1000 places in OR. Wasted my TC gw 35 on Kane unfortunately.
Newcastle really let me down I had sisoko and Townsend. Benched Sanchez as a result.
Is captaining Walcott v Villa s good call ? villa hate pace!?

Is Iheanacho a nailed-on starter for Sunday?
Can't afford Aguero, and don't want to rip up my midfield to accommodate KdB.
Fourth spot is not yet decided, could be lots of goals away at Swansea.

Brilliant idea you gave me there.
For a hit I can do Lukaku to young nacho and get KdB for anyone in mid. Then having the holy trinity, Alexis, Haz and KdB.
      Thx.

I'm not 100% convinced that Nacho will start. Maybe we will get some idea closer to the match.

It's what I have proposed to allow me afford KDB as well - he's started last few and hit two braces in the process, I think he's starting - city scored 8 in those three games

If ozil is ruled out would you do these moves for a hit?

    ozil firmino > kdb tadic

    sanchez fabregas payet ozil firmino
    kun carroll deeney

Quick question. I'm aware you can check gameweek history to see when people have played their chips but are you able to see if they've activated a chip for forthcoming GW?

    1. Reedy
      • 15 Years

No. It used to tell you when their wildcard was active but now you have to keep an eye on their finances if you want advance warning. Another thing the chips have ruined 😉

    2. PlayPercentage
      • 15 Years

      No.
But there is only one GW left. It might be best to assume that they are playing the chip.

Any other midfield punts than Tadic/Mane worth considering? Yaya, Silva or Sterling perhaps?

Arnautovic for a last day punt. West Ham can't keep a clean sheet.

Wouldn't go City. Sterling doesn't play, Yaya uncertain whether he starts, Silva injured. Other than Tadic/Mané (Which I think are the best options) it could be worth a gamble on Arnautovic for instance.

    Currently got:

    De Gea
    Cresswell PVA Moreno
    Hazard Payet Firmino Mahrez
    Defoe Sturridge Aguero

    Ruddy Bennett Cathcart Lingard

    2 FT, 0.0 ITB

    1. Play all out attack chip to bring Lingard in for PVA? YES/NO?
    2. Firmino for Tadic/Mane? YES/NO? which?
    3. Sturridge for Kane? YES/NO?
    4. Any suggestions welcome.

Trying to close a 30 point gap. I think it's too late?
