We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Southampton.

To get underway, we assess the Saints’ team statistics in Ronald Koeman’s final year in charge and compare them to the rest of Premier League, before analysing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Saints finished in sixth position after embarking on a superb run of form that harvested seven wins and a draw in the final nine league fixtures.

          I missed the AOA part but I'm still not keen. Bolasie even at home to West Brom I'm not a fan of. Gomis - I actually fancy Burnley's chances of survival this year. Not seen much of Adomah but Stoke are pretty known for being decent defensively at home. Taylor, again I feel Swansea will concede at the very least.

          It's just my opinion. Also what if you end up with 5 players out for one game and need to wildcard you'll have used it already.

            Well, loads WC'ed GW2 last year and it worked out ok, and you get to catch all of the price rises in the biggest week transfer-wise of the season, and it is the only opportunity all season to go for a team purely for one GW - just seems like it could be fun 🙂

    SSN HQ reporter Paul Gilmour has spoken via FaceTime to Pogba's agent Mino Raiola, who wanted to prove he is not in Manchester for transfer talks, as reported by national newspapers this morning. He is in Empoli in Italy, and says Pogba will remain on holiday until August 6.

    Raiola also said Juve want to renew Pogba's contract, and refused to address speculation linking Man Utd with a bid for his player. He also refused to say whether Pogba had agreed personal terms with United, as previously reported by Italian papers.

      He also said that he was bringing Balotelli to Besiktas and, after Besiktas denied, he lied and said that an "impostor" pretended to be him, although in Italy it been proved that there was no impostor. Raiola is a notorious clown, a buffoon.

    Hi guys,

    Great to see FPL is (finally) back!

    I know there are plenty of fixture trackers out there, although I'm not exactly sure as to their level of detail. I've put one together taking into consideration the first 9 GWs and come up with a coefficient of sorts for each team. The only subjective element is how I've graded the difficulty of each fixture, which is shown in the sheet. It's not perfect (and apologies in advance for the rudimentary Excel skills), but I thought I'd share anyway.

      Xhaka is a great signing, we mustn't forget about him (he was the most expensive European signing so far), but we still desperately need a striker, Wenger can't seriously play Sanogo up front for Liverpool.

    I'm pretty new to all this so can someone explain to me...

    Why would you pay 10-13m for Aguero/Zlatan/KDB types who may score 200ish when you can get guys like Baines, Terry, Shaw who can get 140ish for 5.5m and mids like Tadic, Siggy, Barkley who can get 150-180 for 7.5m?

    I don't see how these top dollar players are worth the money but then it seems like the teams who excel at this game usually have a good handful of them in their teams.

      Aguero is a must! Plus if you have one of the big guns and a £4.5m defender that scores 60-80 (Morgan returned well over 100 last season) it's worth it

      Not sure what to do with him. Seems too good value to ignore, but then it throws up Siggy and Tadic as alternatives

      Hazard is always going to be top dog, he's one of the best penalty shooters in the world. Fabregas is a great option regardless, though, especially at 7.5M.
