An impressive first-half display was enough to see Liverpool beat Chelsea in their own backyard for a second successive season.

Phillipe Coutinho played his part, eased into the Liverpool starting XI courtesy of Roberto Firmino’s untimely groin tweak; he was back amongst the points. As was Diego Costa, who maintained his relentless early season form without seeing yellow. Here’s the Stock Check following Friday’s action…

On the Rise

Diego Costa
Another goal and no booking, this version of Costa undoubtedly requires serious consideration.

Many recruited the Chelsea man as an understudy for Sergio Aguero until Gameweek 6; he has passed that audition.

Some will surely be pondering their options before clicking the eject button to welcome back the City man. Having returned in each of his five Gameweeks, with five goals so far, they will be considering a downgrade in midfield to retain Costa’s services.

However, the Spaniard will need to demonstrate fixture proof qualities to maintain such form: Arsenal, Leicester City and Manchester United arrive in the next four Gameweeks.

Philippe Coutinho
Having blanked in three Gameweeks since his big haul at Arsenal, the Brazilian returned to the Liverpool line-up and provided a delicious assist for their opener. That was enough to seal him two bonus points.

On a night when Roberto Firmino missed out with a minor injury, Coutinho took his opportunity to strengthen the hold on his 28% Fantasy Premier League ownership.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
Okay, it’s too early to panic but, given the competition for spots and funds in our squads, Hazard can’t afford to embark on a run of blanks.

Three points from his last two rings alarm bells, as does the dip in his vital statistics – Hazard has mustered two goals attempts over these two blanks, compared to 14 from the opening three Gameweeks.

The Chelsea Defence
Liverpool have had a tough opening with four away trips in the first five. However, Antonio Conte’s outfit don’t have that excuse.

The Blues have enjoyed three home matches but have just the shut-out against Burnley to show for it.

With a combined ownership of 39%, Chelsea’s back five are expensive investments and, with the aforementioned tough fixtures to come, future returns appear limited.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    2 FTs

    Ibra & Hazard out

    Aguero & Liverpool mid in

    Which one? Firmino if fit

      Looks straight forward to me.

Firmino for me, although I think counting offers could value at his price

    Playing with a WC.

If I opted for an Aguero - Costa - Lukaku front line, would I need Sanchez for another captain option?

    A) Sanchez + Lallana - (Bolasie - Antonio + Capoue)
    B) Cazorla + Mane - (Bolasie - Antonio + Capoue) + 1.5m for DEF upgrade (Shaw - Baines - McAuley - Smith - Amat)

2 ft's next week to get Aguero back.
Hazard, Ozil, Sterling, Benteke and Lukaku are the candidates to make way for Kun. Hope Lukaku or Benteke make the decision easy for me

I'm building my Wild Card side as we speak. I'm going to get Aguero back in, but my big conundrum is around Ibra. Which one of these combos should I realistically be looking at?

    A) Boruc, Hazard, Zaha, Costa and Lukaku

    B) Pickford, Hazard, Snoddy, Ibra and Benteke

    C) Boruc, Coutinho, Zaha, Ibra, Lukaku

    xxx, Jak
    Shaw, Baines, Stones, Lovren, Amat
    xxx, Cazorla, Antonio, xxx, Capoue
    Aguero, xxx, xxx

    Zaza , price drop

Really weird as not many sellers this week and Nono of the predictive sites had him even close to a drop

Only a few hundred net sellers

Done Kane to Aguero with exact money, now 0.0 ITB.

Would this be worth a -4 to do Ozil (CHE) to Firmino (HUL)?

    Foster - Pickford
    McAuley - Masuaku - Baines - Amat - Smith
    Ozil - Sterling - Antonio - Snodgrass - Capoue
    Lukaku - Ibra - Aguero

Groin injuries are not ones that you try and see how things are - they can get a lot worse very quickly. Having said that, it looks like something very minor and the playing safe bit was Firmino missing out last night only - I would expect him to be back next week but, as always, leave it until you know for sure if you're bringing him in - although a price rise will force your hand.

If you would pick 3 of them on WC, then who? (other 2 being cheap subs)
    A) Baines, attacking and good fixtures
    B) Shaw/Valencia, have had Shaw from GW1 but LEI, LIV, CHE soon
    C) Stones, will he come good, good price?
    D) Koscielny, tasty fixtures and attacking
    E) Walker, solid and fixtures looks fine

Keeping an eye on Ibra this week.. if Man Utd continue on their ponderous
ways like they did against Feyenoord, I am keeping Costa and Benteke..

If they improve, then need to make a decision on whom to switch to Kun

      Ibra.

If you spend too much up front the temptation is always there to downgrade one for a better mid....unless you're very disciplined I suspect as soon as you get two big hitters up front you'll be toying around with a "what if" I sell one routine.

    6. Haggis
      • 10 Years

      On the same boat mate.

I believe there are good value assets in both Everton and Palace midfield, whereas there is not in United. I'm keeping Ibra no matter what, then assess Lukaku/Benteke after this weekend. Best performance keeps the spot, and Zaha/Bolasie gets a midfield slot.

You are ignoring the obvious Capoue triple captain .

Lallana seems to be very nailed.

Anyone got him or considered him?

Considered but don't think will go with.

Reason being whereas other mid options like Cazorla and Antonio are 2 million cheaper than their alternatives (Ozil/Payet) Lallana is only just over 1 million cheaper than his (Firminio)

So I would rather Caz or Antonio if saving money.

Was considering him last night but went Coutinho instead. Looks a good option for the price.

      Hi guys,

How is this red-flag, and rules about that? Concerning Aguero this time. Price-protection?

Explanation will be appreciated! Thanks 🙂

Aguero - Ibra - Costa, may it work? Many mid/low-price midfielders are delivering. With DFT I will get this team:

      Cazorla - Sterling - Antonio - Fer - (Capoue)
      Collins - Valencia - Smith - (Amat - Friend)
      Jaku - Pick

      2.3 ITB - Any support/feedback? 🙂

Thanks. Good choice, cheap midfield with good fixtures. 🙂

      Foster (Japu)
      Stones, Morgan Valencia (Friend, Amat)
      Lamela Ozil Firmino Mirallas (Capoue)
      Ibra(c) Costa Lukaku

WC This lot to get in Kun?
