Dugout Discussion – Tottenham vs Sunderland

A busy Sunday of football comes to its conclusion at White Hart Lane as Spurs and Sunderland go head-to-head in the 4.30pm kick-off.

The hosts’ 4-0 win over Stoke last weekend boosted out faith in the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, yet their midweek Champions League loss to Monaco at Wembley suggests Mauricio Pochettino’s side have yet to hit top gear.

Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela owners are left cursing their luck after the duo were named amongst the subs, with Mousa Dembele returning to the XI following a six-match suspension.

Certainly, the home side will be buoyed by their visitors’ second-half capitulation at home to Everton on Monday night.

The Black Cats have yet to win under David Moyes and, considering their current form, may well be lucky to avoid a repeat of the 4-1 reverse in the corresponding fixture last season.

          I'm not stubborn because he's 4.5 - I'm stubborn because he's been 4.7 and 4.8 which led me to hope he was done scoring and started looking for the next Capoue. Now at 4.9, I'm finally getting him.

      That doesn't explain how he converted an unsustainably high proportion of those chances.

      Congrats on backing him but unless the profile of his stats have changed I'll still say it's clearly unsustainable.

          Riding the wave is fine but some people are picking him along with another 4.5, which will leave their team extremely inflexible when he does stop scoring.

    After much internal deliberation, may as well go with a Lukaku, Ibra and Aguero front line. (Benteke > Aguero, Hazard > Bolasie)

    Lukaku is on hot form, Aguero is also in fantastic form (see UCL games) and Ibra still trickles in the points and it would be foolish not give him time given his massive ownership. Don't really mind running a bargain basement MF for a few GWs, the points spread is pretty massive with all the big hitters so not gonna hit all targets.

        Aye, he's been poor from general play but is still going to get a lot of goals. The question is whether that's enough to justify his price tag.

      Honestly, he worked hard up front whilst his support crew continually let him down with abysmal and at times comical attempts at what some would classify as service.

      He got one very fortunate assist, and was probably unlucky not to get at least one goal, with one attempt he'd normally bury hitting the side netting, and another excellent header saved by a top draw save from Gomes.

      Still worth holding onto imo.
