Dugout Discussion – Tottenham vs Sunderland

A busy Sunday of football comes to its conclusion at White Hart Lane as Spurs and Sunderland go head-to-head in the 4.30pm kick-off.

The hosts’ 4-0 win over Stoke last weekend boosted out faith in the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, yet their midweek Champions League loss to Monaco at Wembley suggests Mauricio Pochettino’s side have yet to hit top gear.

Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela owners are left cursing their luck after the duo were named amongst the subs, with Mousa Dembele returning to the XI following a six-match suspension.

Certainly, the home side will be buoyed by their visitors’ second-half capitulation at home to Everton on Monday night.

The Black Cats have yet to win under David Moyes and, considering their current form, may well be lucky to avoid a repeat of the 4-1 reverse in the corresponding fixture last season.

    Scraping round for pennies at the back. Need to choose from the following...

    A) Jaku and Pickford, Walker, Lovren
    B) Jaku and Marshall, Walker, Kelly
    C) Jaku and Foster, Valencia, 4.5 (e.g. Evans)

    WBA's fixtures are about to turn and Walker looks like a good pick, so not too keen on C. Just pondering which of A or B is less of a compromise. Currently favouring A.

    How's this for a WC team?

    Valencia, McAuley, Williams (Holebas, Amat)
    KDB, Firmino, Antonio, Capoue (Fletcher)
    Aguero, Costa, Lukaku

    The Fletcher pick is so that I play Capoue every week - too many benched points for my liking.

    No Zlatan or Payet but I reckon Antonio, Costa and Lukaku have the form at a lesser price

        Thinking similar. But if likely to play Capoue for next 5 fixtures, may make more sense to get a very cheap 5th mid & better fwd than Deeney.

        i.e. rather play Antonio or (eg.) Costa/Ibra?

              Also notice you have KDB rather than Sterling which may limit options a bit, or alternatively compensate for it.
