    Who is Ferguson anyway? lol

Has he ever been on the bench for Newcastle before? I bet he is just some made up player by the FPL creators!

    Morning dead zoners.

    Quite a weekend eh?

I scored my biggest GW ranking ever (7,172) and have almost dragged myself back in to the top 100k. After a few miserable weeks this was just what I needed.

The double Ba and Nani transfer in worked wonders. Just wish I had the balls to have captained Nani as well.

The big question for this week is what to do with VDV. He barely got in the final third yesterday and just kept playing simple balls to Modric/Parker/Bale/etc.... then not getting in the box.

What was the problem? Did Arry tell him to play like that or was he still injured? Very strange

NS man. Looks like Arry's trying to figure out a way to play both Defoe & VDV, which would mean VDV back on the right wing, although Defoe did when he was on the field.

Either way, injury-prone, rotation-risk, sharing corners & no more on penos, he's gone for me!

Spurs are an attractive side to double or triple so I took a look at the scores of the Holy Trinity: VDV, Bale, Adebayor. Here's each player's score and the total score of the Trinity from the first week they played together (GW4).

    Bale|VDV|Ade|Total
    3 |0 |8 |11
    3 |4 |12|19
    10|10|4 |24
    2 |8 |6 |16
    2 |10|8 |20
    2 |15|2 |19
    14|10|2 |26
    13|2 |6 |21
    11|3 |13|27
    5 |0 |14|19
    13|1 |2 |16
    2 |2 |6 |10

First thing is that the total score was between 16 and 27 on 10/12 GWs, so there is fairly consistent reward to be had and this only gets better if you captain one. The issue is how the points are divided between the players - this varies wildly, is quite unpredictable and the health warning is best summed up by the fact that at least one member of the Trinity scored 3 or below on 11/12 GWs. So ideally you have all 3 otherwise you might miss the big haul that makes Spurs coverage worthwhile.

But realistically, you might only have two so you want to know which is most droppable right now. Bale and VDV are tied on scores of 3 or under (6 GWs) with Ade the clear favourite, registering that score in only 3 GWs. However, it's clear that Bale's scores have improved dramatically over the last 6 GWs while VDV got 5 lousy 3-or-under scores in a row. Is it absences? Of course, but only in part. He still started and played 60+ minutes of 3/5 of those games. Besides, carrying an injury (which HE STILL HAS judging by the Stoke match) simply is another reason to sell him. With Bale fit every game (he looked perfectly fine sprinting like Bolt against Stoke despite Harry's 'doubts') it's pretty clear that in the current situation VDV is favourite to go.

There's also some other interesting trends I see in there like Bale and Ade rarely managing to score high together, and the same with VDV and Ade to a lesser extent, and that could be related to how Spurs choose either flanks or centre to attack, but I'll leave that to you to mull over...

Thanks Isacki for good analysis. I had the trio and always in doubt if it's worth to went on with them when only one or two will score well each week. Apart from DGW, Ade + one of Bale/VDV should be best balance for the team, I think.

      Haha there's a challenge!
Holy Trinity averages 19 over the season. Can Nani, Rooney and RVP outscore 19? If Jones keeps a CS (50/50 I reckon) that leaves 13 for Nani and Rooney to aim for. Rooney goal, Nani assist plus bonus points might match 19. Any better and the unholy Trinity wins.

Okay, so i think i may have the answer as to why Adebayor took the penalty today? Apparently it was his 150th PL appearance. That is probably the reason why? Just heard it while i was watching the match highlights on eurosport yahoo. Although, i just checked his stats and it says 149 PL appearances. May not have updated though? Either way, it could be a strong possibility that this is the reason why.

Who would you buy YAKUBU wb & bw or FLETCHER sc & no for next 2 game weeks?

    Things to consider:

    - Yakubu @ 5.7 is on penalties and in form but he seemed lost against struggling Sunderland this weekend....BR were playing counterattack but he barely got the ball. Just scored 4 last week but is inconsistent.
    - Fletcher @ 5.9 is the better player of the two, has a terrific scoring rate, seems to be in form and consistent whenever he plays. He is coming off an injury and seems injury prone. First game of the two is against an unpredictable Stoke team that already qualified for the next round @ Europa but are away to Besiktas midweek and they might be shit after that game. He scores most of his goals heading them in and Stoke are one of the best teams defending headers so......

    What do you think?

I'm no Back to Ballacks but I also removed him from my team just because I like Mata/Nani/VDV better atm and Silva seems a bit overated, only scored 3 goals all season in the opening 2 games and then scored his 3rd by just having a random longshot that Ruddy let get past him

If he starts hitting double digits again, I'll get him back in for VDV after the double gameweek

Yeah, if I got rid of Silva it would be VDV and Silva out for Nani and Mata, so thats my thoughts too, honestly. I just kinda think I'll be ok without City coverage until my next wildcard. Famous last words, I know.

Yep,,,been monitoring united for a while since the hammering from city. Knew Fergie wud go defensive for a few weeks, so did not buy, saw villa game and thought we (united) showed alot of attacking promise so i fancied Nani to be safest bet as Rooney was too risky and still is in my eyes, Rooney was awful again yesterday but got 2 soft goals. Goals will prob continue for him tho as he shoots from everywhere and is playing advanced again. If i hadnt got Nani before wolves, i would wait till next home game for him as he NEVER performs away from home,,maybe 1 or 2 times a season but rarely, silva out was only way i could get him w/o a hit so i just went for it. Took a bit of encouragement as selling silva wasnt easy!

Got it, thanks. I'll keep that in mind. As I said above, it would be him and VDV out for Nani and Mata. Tricky one for sure, especially since I already have Rooney.

also near to winter WC aswell so if silva starts scoring big i can bring him back, but for xmas period i would prefer Nani. City attacking points can come from about 7 or 8 sources, uniteds can mainly come from 3 maybe 5 so im happy with a nani!

Thanks for the reply, care to share why not? :] Brown has bad away fixtures coming up and Sunderland is too inconsistent to be able to keep a clean sheet IMO :/ And smalling is at such a good price and has a small goal scoring threat and has way better fixtures :] Oh and I also have De Gea at goal

Nice expensive defenders 🙂 How does the rest of your team looks like?

Most of the Indos I know also likes to play with expensive defenders, very different style with the majority of people here who bombs their money at the front 😀

To answer your question, Id play Baines, Verm and BAE every week and wont bother with the transfer or get Caulker to save some funds.

Haha I only did that cause I was reading someones post that expensive defenders would be a better option than getting an expensive attackers :] And there seems to be lots of cheap reliable attacks too like Walters/Larsson/ba/welback etc. this year and not many clean sheets but many goals scored by defenders :>

My midfield and strikers are currently
        Mata, Nani, Bale, Allen, Surman
        Ba, Sturridge, RvP

        Thanks for all the replies guys ^^ Really appreciate them. Still thinking of doing the Smalling transfer though x;

looks like it is time to makeover my team.

one of my league-mate did 3 12 pts. hit in a row (crazy, i know)
he is catching up by around 20pts. each week right now, getting consistent 70+pts. this week GWs (90+ last GW)
this make me thinking if i should risk the same.

although i am still 2 pts. ahead of him, if i do not do anything, i will be caught up in no time

Aussie were very lucky to get close too. Needed 42 to win with 1 wicket in hand. 3 LBW decisions later and you eventually succumbed

I think most Aussie cricket fans will be offended by this thread. Not that their team is called scum, all true sports fans enjoy their team playing well enough to elicit strong negative emotions from opposing fans, but that people think they are not tough enough to cope with such a puny insult. They might get the impression their team didn't cause enough emotional pain.

Totally agree, it is water off a ducks back to most Australians. They are very good with banter and aren't offended easily. Some people take this stuff far too seriously.

Exactly, australian cricketers are known for their banter on and off the pitch, and their fans seem to be ok with it generally, I guess this whole issue is a bit hypocritical no? yet I seem to have offended some people.

I must say, football fans can be a lot nastier with that sort of thing. I believe cricketers go about Banter in a much more easy going friendly manner and should not be compared

What are Drenthe owners doing after yet another no-show?

I'm liking his fixtures plus the DGW is looming. But if the guy doesnt play it matters not which team they're playing.

I'm probably sticking just because VDV out is a more pressing transfer right now.

Both Drenthe and VDV stay or go for me depending on price movements. If they are going to cost me money then they go, so it's this week or next unless they somehow get through this week and perform at the weekend

Can definitely see VDV dropping again this week. Drenthe has such a low ownership he might just get away with it.

Things could have been so different for us VDV owners this wkend had he:
        1) Taken (and scored) the penalty
        2) The dumb lino rightly kept his flag down for Ades 'offside' goal from VDVs assist.

      I'd go number 2.

In number 1 I dont like Lennon as a FF prospect (sorry Granville)
In number 3 I dont like that you're getting rid of Larsson.
