Just three weeks ago we dedicated a ScoutCast to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

We collectively toasted his impact Manchester United and swore that he was set to be a mainstay in our squads and seasons.

Just 21-days later, three of the ScoutCast team have sold him on and another teeters on the edge – Jonty is only really hesitating because a four-point hit is involved.

To be fair, Zlatan’s likely biggest fan is missing for this week’s episode. With Granville nursing man-flu, it’s left to Luke to make a return and step in to join Jonty, Andy and myself as we gang up to round on the big Swede.

We’re clearly not the only one’s guilty of this foolishly fickle approach.

This week’s community questions were dominated by talk of a Zlatan exit, whilst also quizzing us on the rise and potential fall of Etienne Capoue, the potential offered by a switch to 3-5-2 and the merits of Theo Walcott as a Fantasy asset. No, really.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

You can view the full Google Hangout version on the second player below, or opt for the old fashioned audio via this link or the first player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Thinking of Selling Capoue on my WC. I need the money and I think he'll have a lot of transfers out this week if/when he blanks. and I don't want to spend money exchanging my 4.5 mids

Reasonable. If you're never going to play him anyway then cashing out on your wildcard (as opposed to spending a ft on cashing out later) makes sense.

The risk is that he rises further in price and you lose out on that little bit more profit.

He did look a lot more dangerous for Wales in the Euros than he ever did for Swansea. Wales and Everton have a little more quality than the Swans so maybe that helped. Set pieces etc....

I'm glad to say my son seems to have got the cycling bug after a couple of trips to a mtb course. I spent today going around cycle shops with him, we have some really good ones in this part of Lancashire.

I was absolutely blown away by the quality and styling of some of the road bikes I saw. They aren't bikes...they're art....Fantastic things...

Mike Dean has given 125 penalties in the premier league. The next worst is Martin Atkinson, with 64...

There is no sign of Dean slowing down, especially with these new rules.

    8. I think it is a stretch to take these stats into any sort of consideration

The first names in both lists are not just a coincidence. As the season progresses, Dean and Madley will stand out even more. While others will still give penalties, having a pen taker in a game which Dean or Madley is officiating, could give u a better chance.

        Basically to afford this.

        Foster (Jaku)
        Coleman, Lovren, Kelly, Britos, Amat
Sanchez, Sterling, Firmino, Puncheon, Capoue Aguero, Zlatan, Rondon

Kelly/Britos and Puncheon/Capoue/Rondon can rotate as need be.

There isnt much else at 6.5, has a couple of decent games coming up and has looked good. If you want Aguero, Zlatan and Sanchez then sacrifices need to be made somewhere.

I know what you mean though, he does stand out as an uninspiring pick.

I've got Deeney plus Capoue as 5th mid. I can't ever really see Capoue seeing any pitch time in my team unless there's a surprise injury or selection change. Am thinking I might be better off going Rashford should he be benched now and then. Only thing is, I can see him coming off the bench every time!

Capoue/Deeney have Burnley this week, MNF points, then bench again. Watford just have good fixtures and both are scoring.

    2. @ImpressiveTackl
      • 15 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

Capoue is supposed to be a 5th mid and as such you don't really want your 5th mid to play at all. People are forgetting that.

Deeney is someone you will play every week. Rashford is a dud if you're wanting Capoue to come in occasionally because Rashford will regularly get subbed on if he doesn't start.

You should only get Rashford if you believe he'll get a run of starts and can outscore Deeney over the next while. I can't see it so Deeney is the better pick (don't let Capoue as a 5th mid complicate it)

      1. Twisted Saltergater
        • 16 Years
        9 years, 2 months ago

Yeah you're right. With Watford's fixtures, I would want to start Deeney every week for the next 4 or 5. I don't know if I'd want to double up on the attacking side with Capoue though (could easily pay off), so there is a case for having just the one.

I had my WC team really defined in my mind, but now am starting to second guess some of the options. I'll see if I'm more decisive tomorrow.

Mini rp from earlier in the week. You know what i miss... The Suspension Tightrope.

With a lot of people looking at Holebas and Deeney I thought a fun sized version would help. Remember, 5 bookings is the 1st suspension level. Can't find League Cup details but more info here: http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/suspensions

    GK:
    Stekelenburg 2

    Def:
    Holebas 3
    Fernandez 3
    Evans 3

    Mid:
    Zaha 3
    Henderson 3
    Fellaini (Duh) 3
    Ramirez (Mid) 3
    Arnautovic 3

    FW:
    Costa (really?!) 3
    Rooney 3
    Deeney 3

Livermore, Januzaj, Aguero return from suspension this weekend.
Manuel Agudo Duran (Nolito) has 2 matches of his 3 match suspension left for his RC.

Ps. I apologise for any accidental Buzz Killington action..

He's outscored Ibra in 2 of the 3 games he's been involved and played a lot less minutes in those so may be unwise to call those people unwise

He will not score more points (although he just might) than Ibra but that's not the point as he's almost half the price... He is better value than Ibra and that's it for me! So I think Marcus & Alexis is better than Ibra & Snoddy for instance...

    Firmino vs Coutinho

I think our view of Coutinho might be a little outdated. In the matches I've seen, he's been playing 1-2's with Firmino and running in on goal. I'm also noticing that Firmino in the false 9 role isn't all that; his two goals vs Leicetsre came with Sturridge on the pitch. With Coutinho on corners and some set pieces, I'm starting to lean a little towards him. I rate Firmino as a better finisher, I just don't see Klopp's tactics benefitting him so much as last year.

    Really tricky to decide.

              Liverpool struggle vs weaker teams.

Klopp's tactics aren't the greatest against teams who decide to surrender 80% possession.

That said I still have Firmino on WC at the moment.

    A) Please pick 1 to play out of:
    Heaton or Pickford

    B) Please pick 3 to play out of:
    Valencia, Williams, McAuley, Kelly, Amat

For GK I am unsure but leaning towards Pickford.

For DEF I think Amat drops out 100%. Then Williams and McAuley play which leaves 1 spot for Valencia or Kelly which I am undecided on.

I'm wondering if Rooney will move to the left more with Mata on the right, and Rashford providing the pace through the middle. Even if Rashford starts on the left, Rooney and Ibra will drop deep at times and look to play Rashford in.

Only problem is that Mourinho is stubborn. For the Manchester derby he tried to be too clever and played Lingard and Mikhitaryan. With every football pundit clamouring for Rashford to start, is he just going to following along?

Not a fan of these moves. Transfers are really precious so would have to be a big incentive to be pre planning them on a WC, I think Alexis could easily outscore KDB this week to make it not worth it. I can see why one would be tempted though with the magician that is KDB vs Swansea!

If it's even possible, I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for Fellaini. He's reigned in his aggressive tendencies despite the frustration at being left to cover the central midfield while Pogba does his own thing. He's not the problem, but I do like Herrera as a player.

      1. @persecuted_by_mods
          9 years, 2 months ago

He's not the main problem, but a top team simply can't play a player who has awful passing and can't intelligently move into space. Even though he might look decent 99% of the time he's playing his teammates into trouble by not offering an option or playing a poor pass
