Monday morning sees the launch of our latest captain poll, canvassing your opinion on the likely favourites and differential options for the armband in Gameweek 7.

Sergio Aguero (13.0) returned from a three-match suspension in style in Gameweek 6 with two goals and maximum Fantasy Premier League bonus points away to Swansea, to reward the 45% in our Captain Poll who backed him with the armband.

Even though the 37.2% owned Manchester City striker faces a far tougher test this weekend at Tottenham Hotspur, it would be no surprise to see him tussle at the top of this week’s poll as well.

The omens are certainly in his favour – Aguero has ten goals from nine appearances against Spurs.

Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.6) will likely be challenging Aguero at the top of the poll, after finishing a distance second to the Argentine in Gameweek 6.

A strong home fixture against a Stoke City side that has conceded 15 times this term, coupled with impressive underlying statistics, offer the big Swede a strong case for selection.

No other player has had more goal attempts than the 55.8% owned striker but interest may be tempered by his failure to register returns from the impressive 4-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.

His cut price team-mate Marcus Rashford (6.9) did manage to score against the Foxes, taking his taking to three goals in four Gameweeks. With more than 71,000 new FPL owners so far this week, he is also expected to garner captaincy interest.

Romeu Lukaku (9.3) will also be in the frame. Like Ibrahimovic, the 19.4% owned striker also blanked in Gameweek 6 as Everton slipped to a reverse at Bournemouth. But his Gameweek 7 opponents Crystal Palace have yet to chalk up a clean sheet ahead of Friday’s trip to Goodison Park.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez has three double-digit FPL scores already this season and he looks an potentially effective differential captaincy option. With three goals and two assists in his last two road trips, it is little wonder that the Chilean has attracted more than 76,000 new managers ahead of the Gunners’ visit to Burnley this weekend.

The midfielders minefield at Liverpool is set to split the vote among their key contenders. Sadio Mane (9.0), the 30.3% owned Philippe Coutinho (8.2) and Adam Lallana (11.3) all offer solid options for the armband when they visit a Swansea City outfit that has conceded seven times across their three home fixtures this season. All three of this midfield trio scored at home to Hull City at the weekend to further boost their case.

Although their team-mate Roberto Firmino (8.4) failed to register any attacking returns against the Tigers, the 9.9% owned Brazilian’s strong underlying numbers, including topping Liverpool’s chance creation table this season, should give those keeping faith a degree of confidence. .

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later this week, as we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering our view of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

To easy to blame the stadium move. Players just not up for end.

I guess with a bigger stadium you get more "plastic fans" who leave as soon as we concede one goal. Being far from the pitch doesn't help either

I don't know what's the real problem but WH players are not interested in the game. It's like watching Aston Villa last season.

I don't think keeping 10.5 midfielder on bench for 3 or 4 GWs is good idea. But bbc reported today that City is waiting on medical results until wednesday, so earlier news could be just clickbait.

I've seen it said a few times on here that Lallana won't keep it up. I think there might be some short memories at work.

In his final season at Southampton, he was a permanent fixture in the FPL's top 5 scoring mids and finished the season with 9 goals and 9 assists. That season he was oddly ignored on here until after the winter wildcard but eventually he became part of the FFS template (some chose him, others chose J.Rod).

So he has a history of 'keeping it up' and he's part of a much more effective attacking unit now than he was with the Saints.

He was playing further forward for Soton then though. Coutinho/Firmino for 1m more is much better value

Any of those four could get a haul in any given week and a double up could be very lucrative. I have Firmino myself and just annoyingly 0.1 off doing Antonio > Lallana. I could do Firmino & Antonio > Lallana & Coutinho (-4) but if Firmino gets a haul, I'd be very annoyed with myself!

this is a dilemma for me currently. I have Coutinho now. I could swap Barkley for Lallana, then have double Pool mid... OR I could also change Coutinho to Sterling ... so what's best combo; Coutinho / Lallana or Sterling / Lallana or Barkley / Coutinho? or Lallana / Barkley??

He's the furthest forward in the Liverpool midfield set up. Almost a number ten. Gets in a lot of goalscoring positions.

Aye, and Klopp loves his natural pressing attitude. Said something about the team needing to follow him when he goes forward. So more goal involvement to come, I think.

          Kicking myself a bit.

A player who I have watched this season and thought wow he has really improved but then not went with it and got Firmino instead as it seems the cash structure pick of that makes sense.

          A real knack of goalscoring.

Yep. Me too. Trying to decide now whether to drop Firmino for him or wait. I'd be kicking myself again if Firmino got the haul he's due.

Would have done Antonio > Lallana if I hadn't missed the price rise grrrrr

You have to let Firmino sit I think that chopping between Liverpool mids could be the way to miss every haul possible.

For me I have issues re: Baines, Capoue 4th mid, and Zlatan if his price goes into total free fall but all things considered I think I will save and captain Zlatan v Stoke.

Okay, so I've had a tough week, which was only offset by captain Sergio.

Team is in a bit of a mess, after gambling to go top heavy, should I WC?

    Foster - Heaton
    Shaw - Stones - Holebas - Amat - Friend
    Hazard - Bolasie - Firmino - Capoue - Surman
    Lukaku - Zlatan - Aguero

    1FT, 0.0 funds

    Areas of concern...

    A. Hazard! - anyone keeping faith?
    B. Shaw - Is he out for long, and will he even come back into the team after Blinds performance at the weekend?
    C. Zlatan - again, lot's on here seem to be dropping him, anyone keeping faith?
    D. Stones - Seems too good value not to have him, especially with Kompany out - but City don't seem to be able to CS either.
    E. I think I need some form of Arsenal attacking - without WC I cannot get Sanchez, so would likely do Hazard - Ozil - is this enough, or is it Sanchez or nothing.
    F. If I were to WC - which keeper should I drop for Pickford?

Thanks guy, I know it's a bit of a long post

      A. No
      B. Yes/No - get rid
      C. Keep, at least for Stoke
      D. Get rid
      E. Not having Sanchez puts you at a disadvantage because of ownership
      F. Both have as strong a case as each other; I'd say Heaton because that's what I did

      Overall: WC

I'd wildcard after this week tbh, as you can benefit from Ibra's great home fixture and then reconstitute your team to include Sanchez instead. If Shaw his fit he will also play against Stoke, whilst Bolasie and Lukaku also have a great home fixture.

So I'd use a full time this week and then WC during the international break. Removing Hazard and Ibra should be top priorities in the wildcard. Hazard will not keep pace with Sanchez or a fit KDB, or probably even Mane or Coutinho tbh. Ibra will not get near Aguero and personally I think that he will finish with a similar points total to Costa and Lukaku.

      Thanks guys, great advice.

It'll be tough to drop Zlatan if he scores well against Stoke, just a gamble I'll have to take I guess.

I've no pressing issues, 2 mil itb and 1 ft. I should probably save FT to deal with international break. Tempted by PVA to Kos/Bellerin.
Just save transfer for rainy day, right??

Would a defence of 4x 4.5m work? It's a bit late for me now, but my plan of 5.5, 5.0, 4.5, 4.5, 4.0 just hasn't worked. Lack of clean sheets this season.

Considering knocking Walker straight down to a 4.5 and having a very strong midfield.

Only a matter of time before the top teams start getting cleanies. I like one big defender atleast.

I have Walker, Williams and Holebas as my main 3.

I don't think a 5.0 defender such as Williams or Stones are worth it - rare CS and no attacking points. Be better with a 4.5m full back from a weaker team.

Coleman is a good shout. Personally, I wish I had got him instead of Walker, and a 4.5 instead of Williams.

Oh well, I can sort on the next WC.

I really don't understand why people are dropping Ibra. Every match he's getting good chances to score, no matter how Man Utd is playing. And he's going to start scoring again. And that schedule:

    Stoke, worst defence in league.
Lierpool, i can't see this game ending with less than 4 goals. I'm not saying Utd is going to score 4, but there will be goals from both sides.
    Chelsea, bad, bad, defence.
    Burnley, well, it's Burnley.

Maybe in fixture ticker matches against Liverpool and Chelsea are tough games for Man Utd, but on pitch they are not, at least not for attacking players. Bad decision dropping Ibra.

It has been an exhausted discussion on here. Aguero is as close as you can get to essential, and having both seriously dents your midfield potential options.

Most people see it as Ibra or Sanchez, and shipping Ibra last week was the easiest way to get Aguero back in, For me, Sanchez will outscore Ibra fantasy-wise come May so that's ultimately why I ditched him

Really stumpted with GW7's captain choice.

Ibra - is "due" if I've ever seen a player "due" and he plays a good fixture. He is also the main pick for captaincy (leading the poll at the moment and most likely top captain pick for the 4m fpl players)

Aguero - fixture proof, on a crazy run. So hard to go against him even with a tough fixture. City scoring for fun.

Sanchez - top form, away with a decent fixture.

Ibra for me. Yeah, City scoring for fun but now without De Bruyne and against best defence in league. I would rather go with Negredo than Alexis. West Ham is just bad.
