It’s time for the first members article of the international break now, as we delve into the data from Gameweek 7.

Alexis Sanchez, Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic come under analysis after their Gameweek 7 armband failures.

Paul Pogba’s improved displays without Wayne Rooney in the Man United XI and Nacer Chadli’s start to life at the Hawthorns are also assessed.

@ Balders or other - are you able to run a script (not even sure if that's the right word) that works out who has the top score for played pts & benched pts? So basically who has the best 15 man squad so far/after each GW?

Reckon it might be interesting to see how far off OR1 that person is.....

Its certainly possible but it'd take a lot of computing time to go through 3m teams. There's a reason SmartyPants only does a 1% sample for FPLdiscovery.

        Ah right, fair point.

Probably the highest overall score would be in the top 1% anyway. Or atleast likely to be.
If they were out side that they be fuming with so many points on the bench 😀

Cheers anyhow, my give Smarty Knickers a ring....

    Pickford | Foster

    Valencia | Williams | Collins | Pieters | Amat

    Firmino | Walcott | Antonio | Ozil | Capoue

    Aguero| Costa | Benteke

    A) Ozil, Valencia > Son, Koscielny (-4)
    B) Ozil, Antonio > Sanchez, Snodgrass (-4)

Otherwise I like B more, but would try to get ARS defender soon.

I know, but as soon as Costa gets his yellow he becomes Deeney and Capoue becomes Son, so I'll rebalance. It's just one week it's bad.. part of a wider plan haha

    Hi all,

Does anyone think BOU's Stanislas or King are good alternatives to Snodgrass for that 4th mid spot?

And if so, which out of Stanislas and King are the most nailed on and offer the greater potential?

Would especially like to hear from any BOU supporters if there's any here as I don't know much about BOU's squad tbh.

    Thanks. 🙂

      No.

I'm not even sure Snodgrass is worth that spot himself, over time. But for now I'll keep

      1. devils advocate
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

I definitely think Snodgrass is worthy of that 4th spot, and if you have him I'm convinced you'll be very pleased now his fixtures have cleared up.

Come seasons end he'll score a minimum 140-160pts if not more imo, and you can't ask for much more from a 4th mid given his price. I actually think he was underpriced at the start of the season based on Hull's issues preseason, but Hull have been more competitive than most expected, and with set pieces in Snodgrass' locker, we've already seen he can grab points even when the fixtures are tough.

Snodgrass is my preferred option, however it's surprising what I can do with the extra funds if I opt for King or Stanislas, hence my original question.

Josh king will find his way into my team this season.

He's the better of the two FPL wise.

Do you think King is close to nailed on, or is it always a risk because he's competing with Stanislas, Ibe, Wilshere and Wilson for his place?

Wayne Rooney, now into his 13 season with united, has only scored 15+ PL goals on 4 occasions. Peculiarly paradoxical player. Country's leading goalscorer but never really that prolific..

    1. KingNidge
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

To be fair to Rooney he has spent a lot of his career playing in different positions whether it be left or right side, CM, CDM.. i remeber in particular the season after Ronaldo left he was given the chance to be the main central striker and he scored 34 in all competitions and matched that total again two seasons later.. his goals record over the years has been excellent even if he is utter tripe now

    2. pompeyfan
      • 16 Years

he used to be a fantastic player, but sadly he's finished as a force in the PL.

His scoring record at international level flatters him, in that he hasn't done it at a major tournament in 12 years.

He is going to be phenomenal.. Can't be easy adjusting to the pace of top level PL football after years in Italy which is played at a snails pace in comparison.. he's had a couple of excellent performances so far showing glimpses of what we can expect and a few poor games by his high standards.. getting forward a lot more without Rooney around too..

We miss so many pts on this site by not trusting to luck with the minnows and their good fixtures. You just have to jump on and off at the right time.

I'll get Bolasie again soon when I fancy the fixtures. Hardly anybody on here likes him but I got him in again, got a couple of assists, and then jumped off again.

Having a non playing attacker in the front 8 is surely never a good thing. Atleast allen for eg plays in midfield and has points potential. Cheap as chips fletcher etc guarantee 2 points a week too. No forward below 6.3 can assure that. Anyway i was asking to make sure there's no sub 6 forward I've missed. Stuani and diomande seem th3 oly options

looks good, but Sanchez is a risky (C) for GW 8 due to international committments.

Rose seems so much more fun to own than Vertonghen. Strugglin to find the 0.4 though. Also, Davies put on a decent shift in his absence. Reckon he is a rotation risk around european matches?

Vertonghen has 90 mins and a steady stream of baps going for him. Not so much as a glimpse of goal threat though 🙁

If Poch is expecting his Spurs team to play at the intensity of that last match then all their players must be at rotation risks to some degree. They simply can't play at that pace every three or four days week in and week out.

Thats the thing. Will be especially difficult for wingers and full backs. CBs in general dont need as much rest/rotation

He's doesn't seem to rotate his CBs much. Only injuries last year as far as I remember.

Capoue as your 4th mid needs ditched imo, can you do Mane->Cout, Cap->Snoddy?

    @Demi

    Look at utd league results

    1-1 with stoke
    4-1 vs lei
    Beat 3-1 by watford
    Beat 2-1 by city
    Beat hull 1-0

So last 5 league games they have only scored more than 1 goal once. Watching them its clear the potential is there but jose doesnt know his best team yet and they are not clicking. Game against zorya was a huge tell tale sign. Something missing in that team preventing it from clicking.

    RMT

    Foster - Jaku
    Walker - Lorven - Smith - Baines - Amat
    Mane - Sanchez(V) - Sterling - Capoue - Redmond
    Lukaku - Aguero(C) - Diomande

    0FT

Who to bench? Good to go?

bemch Amat instead of Baines. Really sucks to have both Capoue & Diom!

Baines + Capoue --> Rose + Fletcher, for free. Yay or nay?

Close, but if Baines has penalties definitely not.

    Play 2 out of

    A) Valencia(liv) B) Jagielka (mci) C) Amat (ars) D) McAuley(TOT)

I believe all will concede i am thinking of starting the first 2 due to possible attacking returns. Thoughts?
