Thereโ€™s one more match to consider in Gameweek 10, as Stoke and Swansea go head to head at the bet365 this evening.

The Potters welcome Bob Bradleyโ€™s side on the back of two straight wins and clean sheets, with Joe Allen and Xherdan Shaqiri both bagging a brace in clashes against Sunderland and Hull respectively.

Indeed, Allen was the third most transferred in player ahead of the weekend deadline, with over 138,000 Fantasy Premier League managers snapping up his services on the back of four goals in as many league matches.

Despite a frustrating goalless draw at home to Watford last time out, the Swans will take heart from their recent 3-2 defeat at the Emirates.

Prior to Jermain Defoeโ€™s converted penalty at the Stadium of Light on Saturday lunchtime, Swansea were the only side to score against Arsenal in eight matches across all competitions.

With the schedule smiling kindly from Gameweek 13 onwards, Gylfi Sigurdsson has the chance to stake a claim for inclusion in our five-man midfields.

2 FT's atm, shoul I do Antonio to Allen or Gundogan as my 4th mid to free-up funds for Sanchez-Hazard-Firmino-Allen/Gundogan-Hojberg and Aguero-Lukaku-Austin front 8. Which one should I get since both are on the rise... Can't afford Redmond or any mid over 5.5 to get Hazard in this week for Walcott.

        13. Better without Kun?

          Kun punishment ?

Ok I'll just confess I sold Kun and did Kun + Antonio > Lukaku + Hazard for -4 on Friday... needless to say I felt sick on Saturday and tbh I would have been clamouring "Kun punished his doubters!!!" had I owned him. But Lukaku and Haz performed on Sunday so I ended up with a net gain and in my view a more balanced team. I felt good going into the weekend and I still feel good now, actually would do it all over again now!
Let me say I'm a massive Kun fan, there is no denying his class, I've been owning him most season and captained him v Newcastle last season... but I'm not a stubborn person and like many have been challenging the comfort of owning Kun in the past 2 weeks. I came to the conclusion that I am better off without him.
First of all one cannot do a straight comparison of Kun vs another striker because he is much more expensive than any other player. So the appropriate comparison is Kun + Antonio/Allen v Lukaku/Costa + Hazard/Ozil/Coutinho because unlike last year we don't have a cheap Mahrez performing like a heavy hitter. This means Kun has to significantly outscore heavy hitters like Costa, Sanchez or Hazard over the season to be worth his 13m, unless you can rely on a player like Allen. I don't think it will be the case and I will also come back to the captaincy argument.
It also means that instead of 3 heavy hitters + Allen, I can afford 4 heavy hitters in midfield - I have Sanchez/Hazard/Coutinho/Firmino and i CAN always buy Allen as 5th mf!

Going through the usual arguments for Kun:

Captaincy/explosivity: "the guy can score 5 goals in a game!!!", "he is a FPL legend" etc. IMO there is no evidence he is more explosive than the other heavy hitters and will score 4-5 goals in a game this season. In my view there is as much probability Kun scores a treble than Sanchez or Hazard and City are not more attacking than Arsenal or Liverpool. Actually we all lost a lot of points captaining Kun week in week out out of fear and waiting for the 'big haul' whereas other stars have been earning double digit returns on a consistent basis. And arguably Hazard is as much a FPL legend than Kun (if Suarez ever comes back to England it will be a different story)

Focal point: it has been heavily debated and argued that with Pep Kun has to drop more and work for the team. The likes of KDB and Nolito find themselves also often in position upfront. I would argue Costa and Lukaku are more focal attacking points (pure strikers) for Chelsea and Everton

Consistency: you expect regular big hauls from a player of Kun's pedigree justifying giving him the armband most weeks. But this actually goes against Kun: not only has he not been consistent this season to say the least but I don't trust him to consistently outperform the likes of Sanchez, Hazard or Costa and my team looks more resilient with one more heavy hitter. Actually it has been argued that Kun goes by patches of heavy scoring which abruptly stop due to injury, international break travels/ champions league rotation, fall outs with Pep etc. There is more chance he will be less consistent than other players with no Europe and a better injury record.

Ownership: that's the scary part: Kun is 40+% owned and you can lose big when he goes goal crazy as most owners will captain him in any week. This goes both ways and depend on rank. It is brave to go without Kun if you're in the top 10k but if you think like me that Hazard + Lukaku will score more points than Kun + mid price midfielder then it's a fantastic opportunity to climb rank like I did this week !

Penalties: He is on pens for City just like Haz is on pens for Chelsea, actually he has missed a few...

There are more strong arguments against Kun:

Surgery: Shoe horning Kun and quickly selling when he gets injured or goes missing involves repeated hits. Having 8-11m priced players allows to switch according to form.

Stats: his stats even on just last weekend are not so impressive: much worse than Zlatan and inline with the likes of Costa, Lukaku, Austin and Benteke for attempts, SiB and SoT. The point with Kun is he has that killer instinct meaning he doesn't need as many attempts to score. Even if we forget about the season so far and assume his conversion is better than others (which hasn't been the case this season so a big if), I don't think his stats support the price difference.

Price rises: having a bunch of 8-10m priced players allows flexibility on transfers to benefit from price hikes. Aguero is 40+% owned and super expensive so won't rise much.

In conclusion: obviously don't sell Kun as he looks to pick up form, he remains a special player but the case for going without him this season is strong based on current evidence.
For sure I will bury my head under the pillow when he hosts Boro next GW but I have been nervous watching the likes of Chelsea or Liverpool this season when I didn't own their key assets! (To be revisited if he goes on to score 5 v Boro!)

If you don't have a top rank, can handle the stress and don't think Allen is the new Mahrez (he certainly looks good now) or you can go for a cheap defense then you may very well be better off without Kun and with a mighty midfield of 4 heavy hitters !

Good post, Kun is the best player in the game but that £13m looks too much.

I ditched him GW3 and I won't be getting back again any time soon.

one other; df are starting to come good and without Kun you can get a couple of the bellerins/aspi/alonso/kas/walker/rose rather than 3x 4.5 and a 5

            im keeping kun tho

The way I see it is that it can work not having Kun if you pick the right players but it is a big risk aswell as if he explodes and your captain doesn't do anything you will be punished heavily.

How can you say Kun is not consistent. 7 goals and 1 assist in 8 games? Whether he scores 2 every other game or one each game shouldn't really matter in the discussion about consistency? He also has a better minute pr. goal ratio than Lukaku or Costa. The missed penalties lately isn't representative for his usual penalty stats.

I am certainly not saying that you should always keep Kun no matter what- given what you can get for the extra cash as you say. But at this particular moment, I don't think Sanchez, Costa or Lukaku can keep up given the coming fixtures over the next few GW's.

But each to his own - I wish you good luck with your team.

Not a good post this sorry. Just looks like you are trying your hardest to fool yourself into believing all this.

Maybe, I was trying to convince myself to keep him before, he had one good week and so did others so we'll see. Good luck!

Don't get me wrong I think there are valid points in going Agueroless but it's just such an risky tactic considering the ownership and points potential.

Not to mention that if and when he starts delivering almost weekly again those fingers will become itchy and it will take same major surgery getting him in again.

I will always go Agueroless when injured or banned though ๐Ÿ˜‰

I got a 3k finish two years ago without owning him.
That season there was a lot of players contributing high points. this season is shaping up the same way.
I'm holding for now but , for example, a couple of premium defenders starting to perform with a firing again Kane could encourage a rethink.

Thank you for writing this, I can't believe the amount of childish posters on this board, stating they have no time to read this yet are constantly churning out 'should I get Allen in for a hit?'.

I would agree with you that this week it payed off, and with every big player scoring you were vindicated. The problem is that there will likely be a week where Aguero scores (c) well, others don't and your rank gets murdered. Allen getting 2 assists doesn't help either of course. I've got Lukaku and wouldn't want to double up Hazard and Costa. So which striker would I get if I do Aguero + Romeu -> ??? + Hazard?

            Thanks again.

Yes if he goes on to score 5 goals and others blank then your season could be seriously damaged but how many weeks did you get killed because you capped Kun and Costa/Sanchez outperformed? To be clear I wouldn't sell him now if I were you since you have Luk and don't want Costa. Wait for Kane or other to pick up form

I think selling Kun can not only be smart in picking the best of the rest, but also a bit of skill (& luck) getting the captaincy right week in & out, which would surely make up any potential difference in his big haul gameweeks.
A Capt Kun by default is safe and represents less of a challenge - even taking into account his leaner spells.

The best way to think about this is if you were picking an Optimal Dead Team Squad (i.e. you made no changes throughout the season) who would you pick now given what you know. On all current evidence Costa and Lukaku will score a very similar amount of points to Aguero because they have no European football (or League Cup). Therefore the £3m saving by having them instead of Aguero looks valuable because it lets you have Sanchez and Hazard and Coutinho.

I too got rid of Aguero this week, and made a net gain as I wouldn't have captained him anyway. I decided to stick with Ibra as I base most of my decisions on stats. Watching both games, I felt like I was incredibly unlucky, but that's how i've felt all season holding onto Ibra ๐Ÿ˜€ If i'd have done Ibra out instead of Kun, i'd be +14 points and be well inside the top 100k now ๐Ÿ™

So was on 46 last night and LMS Safety Score was +8 at 54.

Got Pieter and Allen for 2+8+2 BAPS = 12 points.

I am still going out aren't i once the autosubs come in ?
