Danny Drinkwater is set to start the first of a three-match ban as Leicester entertain Middlesbrough. Joe Allen is suspended for Stoke’s trip to Watford, whilst Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld are both unavailable for Spurs’ visit to Stamford Bridge.

Danny Drinkwater serves the first of a three-match ban after being retrospectively found guilty of violent conduct for an altercation with Watford’s Valon Behrami last weekend. Islam Slimani (groin problem) will be assessed, while Ben Chilwell and Nampalys Mendy are not yet available, having only returned to training yesterday. Matty James is also still sidelined for the visit of Middlesbrough.

Aitor Karanka has conceded that George Friend is likely to remain out “for three or four weeks” with a knee problem ahead of Middlesbrough’s trip to the King Power. Daniel Ayala has recovered from an ankle issue and is back in contention.

Toby Alderweireld has returned to training but remains unavailable for Spurs’ trip to Chelsea tomorrow evening, with Mauricio Pochettino hopeful the Belgian could be fit to face Swansea next weekend. Erik Lamela and Ben Davies remain injured, while Danny Rose is suspended.

Mark Hughes is optimistic that Glenn Whelan will be available for Stoke’s clash with Watford. The midfielder has recovered from a hamstring problem but has now picked up a calf complaint ahead of the Vicarage Road clash. Geoff Cameron and Phil Bardsley are sidelined through injury. Joe Allen sits out a one-match suspension, whilst Jack Butland is expected to return to training next week.

Jefferson Montero (hand) and Leon Britton (calf) have both recovered in time for Swansea’s home clash with Palace. Manager Bob Bradley has confirmed that Ki Sung-Yeung is the only absentee – the South Korean is expected to be out for a couple of weeks with a broken toe.

Paddy McNair has been ruled out for months with knee ligament damage as Sunderland make their way to Anfield. Seb Larsson and Jan Kirchhoff are expected to miss out despite recent returns to action for the club’s reserves. Steven Pienaar is available after serving a one-match ban but Papy Djilobodji misses out due to a similar suspension. Jason Denayer has recovered from a hamstring complaint.

Adam Lallana is expected to remain on the sidelines for Liverpool’s clash with Sunderland. Local press confirmed that the midfielder was once again absent from training yesterday ahead of the Black Cats’ visit to Anfield.

Eddie Howe has revealed that Artur Boruc and Andrew Surman remain doubtful for Bournemouth’s trip to the Emirates. Adam Smith is available after serving a one-match ban last week, Jordon Ibe has recovered from illness, though the on-loan Jack Wilshere cannot play against his parent club.

Steve Mandanda remains sidelined with a knee problem as Palace make their way to the Liberty. Loic Remy will be unavailable for another three weeks after sustaining a calf injury.

Tony Pulis will “make a late decision” on Nacer Chadli, as the Belgian steps up his recovery from a knee problem. The Baggies boss conceded his summer signing faces a tough task to return to the first XI in light of his side’s current form. Back-up stopper Boaz Myhill is sidelined with an ankle injury.

Younes Kaboul and Juan Camilo Zuniga are both doubtful for Watford’s home encounter with Stoke. Jose Holebas returns after serving a one-match suspension, though Craig Cathcart, Kenedy and Isaac Success all remain on the sidelines.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

2 FTs and 0.6 in the bank. What to do? Big head to head fixture for me this week, so looking at immediate potential.

    Foster Heaton
    Stones Monreal Francis Pieters Prödl
Sanchez Coutinho Lallana (I know) Redmond Capoue
    Lukaku Ibra Deeney

Need to try and get Firmino in there somehow, but it's not easy...

Lallana & Ibra for Firmino & Giroud?
Lallana & Sanchez for Firmino & Mane, triple LIV?!

Can't quite afford to do the obvious Lallana & Sanchez for Firmino & Hazard...

    Any advice?

      I'd keep Ibra. Good differential.
Lallana to Sigurðsson maybe? Redmond has good fixtures.
Maybe Sanchez to Hazard and bank the money for next week?
      Lallana -> Sigurdsson
      Sanchez -> Hazard

Lala + Redmond >> Firmino + De Roon

Would need to be willing to use Capoue as 4th mid. De Roon obvious bench fodder.

Team for this GW (already after -4)

    Heaton
    Williams - Holebas - Evans - Amat
    Sanchez - Firmino(c) - Coutinho
    Aguero - Costa(vc) - Austin

Bench: Pickford - Vertonghen, De Roon, Allen

    0.4 in bank

Anything worth another -4, or stick as I am?

I don't believe in benching your best defenders on fixtures alone. Allen to Phillips if you have itchy fingers. Williams won't keep a CS.

Mine would be Kane, Costa, Defoe....with the possibility of Giroud instead of Defoe if £££ allowed.

          KDB in midfield. Sigurdsson too.

Difficult, Jonty. Liverpool has great midfield choice at a good price and on very good form too. And then you have Hazard and KDB. Are you saying you would prioritise KDB ahead of both Coutinho and Firmino?

      I have

      Pickford
      Alonso McAuley Holebas
      Firmino Coutinho Zaha Siggy
      Costa Kane Giroud

      Bench: Capoue Cedric Grant Lenihan

Don't get Giroud. If he doesn't start you will be upset. Get Defoe instead.
        No to Zaha. Upgrade him.

Be tempted to downgrade Giroud for Rondon purely because of how unsure he is to start, also WBA vs Hull is going to be great.

Capoue downgrade to De Roon and then use the leftover £2.something to upgrade Zaha. Im curious what your team value is because not being able to afford Hazard is a bad thing

        1. Musicholic

its around 98-99. Its my brothers team. He doesn't know how to play and is lagging badly behind in the ML. My team is currently under the 10K rank.

I actually do like the Rondon punt. His fixtures aren't great during the Christmas time. I was thinking of Giroud as a long term asset.

I was thinking of using Zaha for the next 3 weeks, actually not against So'ton so basically Swansea and Hull. I definitely think Zaha would be a good differential.

And tbh, I am more inclined to start Capoue over Kane for this weekend. I think Chelsea is going to be rock solid at the back and won't let anything through. Spurs are not at their peak anyway.

What a luxury! I agree to downgrade Capoue for De Roon. That's money wasted on your bench.
Spend it on keepers. Both yours are out soon as they are second choice.

He'd such a hard to predict player. We've always made the mistake of getting him for his easy fixtures and ditching him because he doesn't return our faith with them...and then he score when we least predict it.

We call him a troll when in fact we troll ourselves.

Our teams are similar. I did C, and will be using Zaha as 4th mid with Fletcher as bench fodder 5th mid. This is a bit of a punt. Personally don't feel a burning need to ditch Lukaku for this GW. Especially for -4. This also leaves me with 2.0 ITB to go Luk > Kane or Ibra if I decide to keep a heavy front 3.

    Hi guys,

Looking some advice on whether to save a FT or just do straight swap Lallana - Siggy
    Foster
    Evans, Holebas, Fuchs, Clyne
    Cout, Capoue, Haz,
    Costs, Aguero, Lukaku
    (Picky, Amat, Lallana, Allen)
If I do go for siggy should I bench Capoue or Evans?

Ok, so having read the full article not just the tweet, it's more about him not being able to get into the side due to the way they're currently performing, as opposed to a fitness issue alone.

He's still coming out of my team and will go down as one of the worst transfers ever. Benefit of hindsight and all that.

Haven't captained a Liverpool player since the Suárez days, I think. Firmino captain this weekend though, can't trust Alexis.

    Sanchez Coutinho(C) Firmino(V) Sterling
    Kun Lukaku
    PIckford Walker Diomande Allen
GTG or use ft, for what? Only 0.1m itb.
I really wanna get Chelsea players but in 2 weeks time. Might get Siggy for Sterling but was thinking Lukaku to Austin and upgrade Sterling to Hazard soon but dont think worth a hit now. Alonso is also a must have.

According to Daily Telegraph, Bony may be sold to China at his peak age. That league risks becoming very competitive very soon.

It's already competitive in that it attracts very good players already. There would be more already if it wasn't for the 3 foreigner rule imo

I didn't know they had that. Why do they?

I guess to try to help improve the national team. Similar in other sports like cricket, the 4 foreigner rule in the Indian Premier League has attracted the sponsorship and crowds but also helped make India the best team in the world.

That league will never ring true no matter who they buy and how much money they throw at it. The same applies to when the USA have tried it before.

Football has a 100+ year history of drama, rivalries, players...blah, blah, blah...in both Europe and S America. They'll never be able to catch that up.

that's quite a narrow-minded view imo. Not everywhere can start at the same time, England because they started the game. The Bundesliga was formed in the 60's and the Eredivisie in the 50's for example, and that doesn't make their leagues any less exciting or legitimate.

Yeah I know it's narrow minded...still true though. It would be like us investing massively in American football to rival what they have over there...except we wouldn't be able to compete with the history of the game. Sporting history matters to fans en masse....a lot.

tell that to the MLS fans. It's well supported and they have brought good atmospheres to the games. It's not too dissimilar to what you see in England for example

Quietly confident with my Lukaku & Lallana to Costa and Phillips move. 0.4 up as I caught the price rises and avoided the falls, one Chelsea player in place for their run and money ITB to get more 🙂
