Dugout Discussion

Deadline passed, we’ve just the one match to distract us while we ponder the merits of our latest tinkerings. It’s off to Anfield for what is traditionally a cracker, as Liverpool face Newcastle – the Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to soak up the match events as they happen…

The team news is in and there are few surprises amongst them. With Luis Suarez twiddling his thumbs after putting his one finger to use at Craven Cottage, Kenny Dalglish recalls Craig Bellamy in tandem with Newcastle old boy Andy Carroll. The script is there, can the big Geordie deliver?

Liverpool’s other change has Jay Spearing make a return, with Maxi Rodriguez making way. He joins Steven Gerrard on the bench.

As for Newcastle, they make just one change with Haris Vuckic drafted in for Leon Best who is amongst the subs. Demba Ba shakes off a “little knock” to his knee to lead the line, carrying the hopes of the travelling Magpies faithful and the expectations of plenty of Fantasy managers. Enjoy the game.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If I do Jones and Richards ➡ Baines and BAE (4 point hit) I will have a DGW team of Bale, Adebayor, Drenthe, BAE and Baines. Too much?? Changing with Wildcard afterwards

i dont see a lot of value in everton defenders personally, because 1 of their fixtures is away at spurs where the good chances are they wouldnt get a cleanie. kind of cancels their double for an everton defender imo.

Guys I have 2FT I want to use today before the price change of Dempsey and Jagielka...

    A.) Mata, Jagielka
    B.) Demsey, Jagielka

This would give me 5 players for DGW. I am using my WC on GW23 so I am getting these players for 4 games.

Or mess up my team and bend over backwards for DGW and go with 6 TOT EVE players:

C.) Baines, Osman (I have BAE, Bale, Ade & Drenthe)

Posted yet again with more information. Last time I promise.

    This week’s team is: http://i.imgur.com/rY1Sv.png

I need to make up 1.3M to fund Ba->Adebayor. Have 2 free transfers and 0.6M in the bank.

Should I downgrade Silva, Mata or Jones? Respective selling prices are 10.3, 9.6 and 6.3.

Currently thinking Silva, as City are playing Liverpool and Spurs in their next 3 games. But any other ways of funding this?

Fair enough but Silva produces in big games. Even if you're right and Osman say, outscores him by 4 or 5 points then you're presumably still losing a chunk of change in it. I can understand doing the trade for a Spur, but for an Everton player when they're struggling for goals doesn't seem like a great idea to me.

I was. And your point is... I'd rate Van Der Vaart a tad above Leon Osman.

Just to clarify. City / Silva have 7 games between the 1st Jan and the 25th so I think it's not the worst decision getting rid of Silva if there's a suitable replacement. I don't think Osman is that suitable., I think it's a case of people here getting carried away with the idea of a double gameweek.

Its been tough to watch gareth smash it last few weeks and my plan was to always bring him in this week. So do I play it safe and wait until hes played tomorrow to bring him in, to make sure he doesnt get injured or do it tonight to beat ANOTHER price rise.

FPL will have to get all the GW19 points updated before GW20 starts.
    That should test their systems...

Lovely performance by the Pool tonight though. I thought Newcastle would do alot better.

Im actually thinking of not getting any Everton players in and sticking with just 3 spurs players, it makes more sense to me. Cause Everton rarely score more than one ever and their clean sheet potentional is just horrible.

Just thoughts. Mulling with it in my head. Makes sense?

Facing a choice between a pleasant, simple Huth > BAE or potentially Silva > VDV and Huth > Jags (or whoever else) for a 4 point hit...if VDV does anything against Swansea it's going to be hard to resist.

don't really see the value in jags or howard for next week as a cs vs spurs is unlikely. baines could be worth it with penalties and attacking potential but costs too much for me to even consider him. meaning the only everton im thinking about are drenthe/osman/donovan

how many if any and which everton players will you guys have for the dgw?

None at present. I'll stick my neck out and say Everton will score no more than 1 goal over the 2 games. Definite cleansheet possibilities v Bolton but we said that against Norwich didn't we?

    Front 7 for next week:
    Silva, nani, drenthe, mata
    Adebayor, rvp, Sturbridge
    Need bale in…
    For silva or mata…
    I’ll lose 0.5m if I drop silva.
    Go with mata then?

Wondering if this Spurs double could be set for a huge disappointment, West Brom looking more solid now and Everton can be hard to beat...then again 1-0 (Bale) x2 and we're all happy.

I have a similar worry that is why I decided not to get VDV and will go for Walker/BAE as the third spur. at least 1 CS should be on the cards.
