Ledley King suffers a hamstring tear and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. Alejandro Faurlin confirms he is ruled out for the rest of the season, Alan Pardew mulls over a switch to the flank for Hatem Ben Arfa and West Brom’s injury woes rack up:

Ledley King is looking at an extended time on the sidelines after tearing a hamstring. Reports suggest the centre-half could be out for up to eight weeks after suffering the injury in training last Friday and with William Gallas tearing a calf muscle against West Brom last week, Harry Redknapp’s options at the heart of defence are limited. Luckily for Redknapp, Michael Dawson returned to action in the weekend FA Cup win over Cheltenham and is available for selection, in addition to Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Bassong.

Arsene Wenger has dismissed the idea that Thierry Henry could stay on loan at Arsenal until the end of the season. Reports have suggested the New York Red Bulls man could perhaps remain at the Emirates till May, in a deal similar to the one that saw AC Milan retain the services of David Beckham a couple of years back, but it is not a scenario that Wenger has considered:

We have promised that we will send the player back so we have not spoken about that at all. Let’s hope we have the problem. If we have a problem then it means he has done well so I hope we have the problem. But at the moment I can just say no, it is not envisaged at all.

Alejandro Faurlin has confirmed he is ruled out for the rest of the season. The midfielder was stretchered off in QPR’s 1-1 FA Cup draw with MK Dons at the weekend and took to twitter to reveal he has a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Alan Pardew has suggested he is tempted to play Hatem Ben Arfa on the wing after the Frenchman’s wonder goal at the weekend. Ben Arfa was initially fielded up front alongside Leon Best for the game against Blackburn but his impact on the game only flourished when he was moved to the flank after Gabriel Obertan was withdrawn. Although the player is desperate for a “number 10” type of role, Pardew feels Ben Arfa’s performance benefitted from the shift:

It did help him. Before I arrived, there were suggestions that he had played wide and didn’t want to play there. But Hatem has to understand that it’s about the team, and where we think he fits in best is where we are going to put him. But his talent was there for everybody to see today.

West Brom’s injury woes increased at the weekend after Gareth McAuley picked up a calf strain in the FA Cup win over Cardiff. The centre-half limped off before the end of the 4-2 win and with Jonas Olsson also currently sidelined with a calf problem, Roy Hodgson now has nine players on the treatment table ahead of next weekend’s clash with Norwich.

Seamus Coleman suffered a recurrence of a thigh injury in Everton’s win over Tamworth at the weekend. The Irishman has played only 30 minutes since gameweek 15 and was subbed off before the hour mark at Goodison on Saturday when the problem flared up yet again.

Steve Kean hopes to have Chris Samba, David Dunn and Junior Hoilett available for Blackburn’s home clash with Fulham on Saturday. The trio missed Rovers’ 2-1 FA Cup defeat at Newcastle last weekend, with Samba a last-minute call-off, due to ankle and hamstring issues. With Martin Olsson and Gael Givet also returning, Kean’s injury problems appear to be lessening as he looks to plunder a crucial three points against the Cottagers.

FPL have added the newest January acquisitions to the player list today. Thierry Henry comes in at 7.5, Gylfi Sigurdsson has been priced at 5.0 in the Swansea midfield, while Paul Scholes has returned to the Man United squad with a 5.5 price tag against his name.

Man City confirmed this afternoon they have lodged an appeal over Vincent Kompany’s sending off in yesterday’s FA Cup defeat by Man United. The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden has suggested the verdict should be known by 6pm tomorrow evening, with the case being fast-tracked due to City’s Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool taking place on Wednesday.

Evans is going to become a rotation doubt again, i'd say doubling up on newcastle defence instead wouldn't be a bad idea, as SUN/NEW and SWA/FUL both rotate well and you can play enrique every week.

Other than that it looks good, assuming you're happy to play one of Moses or McClean every week?

Have a look at the 'transfers in - gameweek' as opposed to 'transfers out - gameweek' on FPL website.

Next, go to fiso.co.uk and apply the formula and look up 'risers and fallers' to verify, and research further if needs be.

Having said that tho', I've found fiso to be out just lately.

Are you sure you want to rotate Sessegnon? He's scored 8 times 5 points or more this season, 4 of them away and 4 at home.

      Away: 13, 5, 9, 11
      Home: 6, 12, 5, 6

At least you don't need home/away rotation imo.

Fully aware of my non-existing United coverage, but not sold on them atm and their fixtures are really tightening up after this week. Having slight concerns about Mignolet when Gordon returns, and the fact that I am doubling up on Newcastle defensively with Tiote off to ACON.

a bit david moyes like but di matteo said about ivanovic and sturridge:
"we hope to get one or two ready for the next game, but we don't know yet."

also ramires did move to the wing just before he got his 2 goals and 1 assist v portsmouth, i think it could really be something to keep a close eye on as it could really be a threat to sturridge and would also make ramires a great prospect. could also allow mata to play in a central 'fabregas role.' realistically though i think chelsea would have to buy a winger for it to happen.

essien played 75mins in the reserves today, but is still described as weeks away from a proper return. van arnholt, kakuta and lukaku also started yet they still lost to the west brom reserves. very earlydays but a bit worried about lukaku, to put it bluntly he looks a bit shit

            I was planning on:

            Richards Hangeland Huth Senderos Simpson

(Possibly having a punt this week and then bringing Huth in next week)

My midfield and strikeforce will be pretty standard so i wanted to take a bit of gamble in defence and get defenders with goals in them such as Hangeland and Huth.

Now im thinking whether to just get another Geordie in for Huth and maybe Kelly in for Hangeland and use the money to upgrade but im not sure exactly where i would use it. Ive got poor team value.

Yeah probably. Im pretty set on my strikers and ive intending have 3 big(ish) midfielders ill play every week and then rotate the 2 cheap midifielders. All the extra cash allows me to do is to upgrade one of my big midfielders to a different one (basically Valencia to Nani/Silva) just not sure its worth it, i like the idea of having Huth & Hangeland and i know ill be gutted if i dont have them and they do well. My decision making has been horrible this season tho.

If that did happen and Ramires moved to the right and Mata behind the front man, that leaves the left wing free which could see Strurridge their i suppose? Although he loses that ability to cut in on his left.

Highly unlikely AB - Ramires is most effective at CM & Studge at RW. Really cherish the idea of playing Mata centrally ahead of Ramires & Meireles/Essien and behind Torres. Only problem is that would mean Malouda will definitely have to start - Chelsea will look sign another winger for sure. Hopefully 🙂

    Possible WC team:

    Krul, Vorm
    Simpson, Baines, Skrtel, Senderos, Warnock
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Moses, Pilkington
    Aguero, RVP, Helguson.

    How do you like it?

Barring injuries, it allows me to go Baines & Skrtel to Kompany and Vermaelen after two weeks after Kompany's ban and Verm's injury vs Swansea and the Man Utd game.

      I´m sorry I won´t be much help but I like a little chat 😉

I´m getting Aguero this week but will captain Rooney, it´s a risk not having those 2 in next GW.

You can turn things if you back Nani to come good as you said before and get Aguero if it makes you feel safer!

All in all I think those 2 sides have to be covered one way or the other!

FB - I honestly think Rooney is a mistake...

I was bleating not to have him in November and I was right... then I fell into a coma... I must have because I picked him in December... he (and combined with SAF's meddling) totally let me down...

I was scoring well lying 2nd in my mini league at the start of December... then dropped and dropped by end of December because of my Rooney pick...

I can only be certain he will let you down - he, as you very well know, is still playing too deep!

The way he's playing at the moment is like watching an attacking midfielder play!

      Aguero is your man

Just started tinkering with my W/C and came up with the following, would appreciate your feedback please gents

    A) Vorm (Ruddy)
Enrique/BAE/Cahill (if Chelsea) R Taylor Shotton
    Valencia / Ramires / McClean / Bale / Silva
Adebayor / Van Persie / Sturridge

+2.9 in bank to tinker with back line

    B) As above with Adebayor -> Aguero
    and Ruddy -> 4.6 keeper

    c) Adebayor -> Rooney
    Ramires -> Sess

    D) Start again!!!
Am also considering losing Silva to Gerrard - is that madness - I have a lot of points to make up
