    Hi guys,

really breaking my head with this one, PLEASE help, 1.6m in the bank:

my front 8 are as follows:

    Dempsey Silva Bale Sessegnon Moses
    Aguero RVP Fletcher

    Should i do

    A) Fletcher --> Ba
    B) Moses&Sees --> Valencia&Mclean (-4 pt.hit); i would off course play 5 midfielders here

    Thank you!!

I was looking forward to getting rid of Baines in the WC but with some improved team form, two target men to aim at I'm unsure. Both him and BAE were about to be chopped but BAE keeps getting assists and with his increased involvement in the build up, I'm not sure there either. Advice? Would swap for Kompany and probably a cheapie to upgrade Fletcher to Aguero

If your looking for a differential, I would keep Baines, Everton start producing in the second half of seasons. But I'd look to get rid of BAE, don't see spurs keeping to many cleanies, but I'd keep him for the his price rise coming up 🙂

Agree, keep Baines. The addition of Jelovic may just open up the opportunities for morre assists, and as the above has highlighed Everton are traditional stronger in the second half of the season.

It feels very wrong to ditch him, but 3 of his next 4 are liv ars MUN and you just can't see many cleanies in those. Don't forget he was at home to Wigan this week too. You have to play the fixtures in this game, not last weeks points.

But, still feels so wrong to get rid!

This is now my 4th season playing the game and am really grateful to the advice on this site. I admit I don't take all the advice literally and force myself but all the advice/suggestions give food for thought. I am currently 1909 and making great progress each year. I have take no hits this year YET. The last 3/4 gw I started to get a squeaky bum as was doing poorly but thought my team was great. Any way managed to lose a sixty point lead in my mini league and now got it back to about forty. My league has over 70 mates in it and the winner bags £580 which is no mean amount. And the funniest thing is I captained ade from bale at last min panic not getting on site.

Thanks to all constructive input on this site and also other comments which alert me to excellent, funny or knowledgeable articles etc and tv like game of thrones which I would never had watched. This site always brightens my week up especially as I am a die hard forest fan. Not much excitement there at minute.

    Bye for now Nigel

Scored 80 but it counts for nothing, my main rival scored 76 after absolutely fluking it this gameweek, made no transfers or changes, which left him with a trippled up Newcastle defence (Krul, Raylor, Simpson).

If ever I wanted Blackburn to score then this was the week.

It's all about consistency. Score 60+ every week and you'll be there or there abouts come the end of the season.

I got 76 and captained RVP, so whilst it's slightly annoying, the score is v.good.

Same here mate. Was saying that a few weeks back. I haven't had that many explosive scores, i.e. 80+ however I've been chipping away around the 60 mark and gradually moving up the ranks. Was hoping to break into the 1k this gw and would have done if I'd have captained bale. Obviously a lot of other people wishing the same thing.

The myth of defenders not getting many BPs looks shattered. They're getting them aplenty, and goals in games aren't stopping them. They don't need 0-0 draws to get BPs at all.

    Gibson 3 HEITINGA 2 BAINES 1 - 1 goal in game

    Kuyt 3 Bellamy 2 ENRIQUE 1 - 3 goals in game

    Sinclair 3 Allen 2 CAULKER 1 - 2 goals in game

    Bale 3 Modric 2 ASSOU-EKOTTO 1 - 4 goals in game

    EVANS 3 Hernandez 3 Berbatov 1 Valencia 1 - 2 goals in game

    Arteta 3 MERTESACKER 2 SZCZESNY 1 - 0 goals in game

    COLOCCINI 3 SIMPSON 2 RAYLOR 1 - 2 goals in game

Furthermore, often when defenders get BPs it's often thought they need to score and assist. But of these 11 (!!) defenders who got BPs, I understand only 2 got an assist, and they got the lowest BPs. The other 9 got no assists - they were awarded them purely off their defensive stats. And they weren't just getting them, they were getting more, with 2 getting the highest BPs.

This throws a spanner in the works of conventional defence choices - if good defensive stats are consistently rewarded, it may not necessarily be the best strategy to pick the cheapest nailed on defender in a team. Picking a more expensive one renowned for their defensive stats could produce more points.

Yeah. Week to week is a nightmare. But in general there are some defenders renowned for commanding performances at the back that may be worth a gamble. I'm thinking Shawcross, maybe Huth, Coloccini, Enrique, Skrtel... and now Evans lol!

More expensive defenders - playing in a team with more expensive and better attackers - Generally more goals, so less bps for the defence. Also shots off target play a huge part in defenders taking some bps off the goalscorers/assisters. Evans 3 was with the 2 goals being penalties( which get awarded less PPI).

But yes defensive stats are becoming significant. I actually think the consistent cheapie defenders like Simpson, Taylor, Caulker e.t.c are still better than the expensive ones for bps

Yep I agree with your point that the better your team, the more competition you have for BPs. So you want the team with the poorest attack, the best defence, and the cheapest price.

Ironically my recommendations just above fit that almost perfectly. Liverpool defenders of course are more expensive but their attack is lousy (especially for a team of their size) and their defence is great.

Pity they look too expensive to bring in now, plus they have some of the toughest fixtures of the season right now and have a blank GW26.

Will consider in the run-in around the GW30 mark.

    1 FT this week.

    Krul
    Simpson BAE Richards
    Sess Dempsey Bale Silva
    Ba RVP Aguero

    Bench: Mignolet, Caulker, Dyer, Kelly

Unlucky, Krul would have been on my bench too if it hadn't been for Lindy's late injury. Simp was benched for me also, nobody could have foreseen Bburn not scoring.

I did Lindy > Mig like 10 secs before the deadline. Wish my PC had crashed 😛

Had Krul on the bench as well, but I'd make the same decision again. But I chose Simpson over ShawX, just have a habit of not clicking confirm.

Other than Dempsey, do you think any other midfielder should break into this midfield for the near future?

    Valencia Bale Sessegnon Walters Silva

I've ummed and arred about taking Walters out, but I've had him a while so thinking with his home fixtures, it would be best leaving him until after they have played Norwich.

Who knows, form comes and goes (for most players at least). I think a player like SWP could become a consistent provider given QPRs fixtures and his positive start under Sparky

Allthough Dempsey has tough game next, his fixtures are great as well... i guess it comes down to who you think will/can score more goals.. Walters or Dempsey... I think Dempsey.. as for anyone else... I am liking Sigurdsson and Oxlade Chamberlain just as rough 'punts'

Question regarding formation to the forum.. I have done a 3-5-2 the last two gameweeks and it has yielded 70+ pts each week, have had a bit of luck of course as well.

I have run a Nitroglycerin midfield both wks

    Silva-Bale-Valencia-Sess-Dempsey

Have also Simpson, JEvens,BAE,Shotton,Dawson defence & Studge,Welbeck,RVP fwd.

My question i guess is peoples opinion..

    A. Stick with 3-5-2 and do Studge to Ba perhaps.. or

    B. Drop someone in midfield and use funds to get ManCity defender for there upcoming array of home games (cleanies....)

    Thoughts appreciated

IMO, 3-5-2 has always been the optimal FPL formation, marginally better than 3-4-3.

    A or B lads?

    A. Aguero Kelly Taiwo
    B. Dzeko BAE Huth

Is Aguero worth the defensive downgrade for his captain material?

Are you dropping Dempsey for GW24?
Thinking of using McCauley at home to Swansea instead? Is that crazy?

Assuming he's just your 8th cheapie fwd and will only play in case of an injury, I'd go with Moses. Prefer to have him to McClean for most of the upcoming GWs.

The thing about Simpson/Raylor/Krul is they stung so many people last gw, that I can't complain about them this GW. Over the two fixtures they posted average scores.
