After an eleven-week marathon, sleepingmaster lifted the coveted Paddy Power Cup V after a 81 – 60 victory over Funkyav. He adds his name to the growing list of former champions, which now reads… donnellyc, Jonty, Gooner dave, Ninja_Fit_Saints and sleepingmaster.

His 21-point annihilation of finalist Funkyav, came courtesy of an inspired 30-point captain’s haul from Gareth Bale. Also helping was the other nine bonus points, two goals, two assists, and clean sheet from the rest of his squad. Despite owning Bale and accruing an impressive four clean sheets, Funkyav was let down by the rest of his attacking outfit, including a rare poor return from captain Robin van Persie.

Sleepingmaster finishes the tournament in a healthy and slightly modest 36,691st overall, pockets the top prize, and will return in Gameweek 29 to defend his crown.

Here is a breakdown of all the winners from the Paddy Power Cup V…

  • Winner: sleepingmaster – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up: Funkyav – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place: ChickenDevil – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

I’m sure you’ll all join me in congratulating our three prize winners for their fine efforts.

Finally, thank you to everyone who submitted an entry for the competition, and to SUPERIOR BEING, Mark and Ed for helping me out behinds the scenes to make the competition possible.

Finally, a reminder to all our Members that registration to the Members Paddy Power Cup is still open, with Gameweek 24 acting as the qualifying round. Members must enter their username and FPL id’s to be included in the qualifying.

    Evening all,
it's probably been asked a million times on here recently with wildcards flying about but what are the thoughts on the best keeper combo for the remainder of the season? I'm unsure whether to keep Vorm with other candidates like Schwarzer, Mignolet, Sorensen and Krul - it's just the 0.7m i lose on him if I end up getting rid. Is Krul a good option with Simpson in my back five already, or should I look to Stoke and Sunderland?

I have just got Krul for 5M for first time in season to go with Vorm. I also have simpson too.

Stoke will suffer Europa hangover soon, so Huth and Shawcross are not worth the money. Sunderlands remaning home game are not appealing for FPL investment.

don't think wenger will even consider resting rvp after the run arsenal have been on. They NEED a win and RVP has a great record v bburn.

Also the bin liner protest could turn to more anger to wenger if arsenal don't win so he won't rest RVP

Nope. They have gone down to 7th in the league so they need to win. RVP is the best player in that team, Wenger would be stupid to rest him.

Those were my thoughts exactly until I started thinking about it this afternoon. The thing is - Van P has played three times in one week so there is a small risk in pushing him too far. Dont forget, he has been pretty much injury prone throughout his career at Arsenal and I dont think has ever completed a season without any injuries. Wenger would rather risk benching him with a view to bringing him on if in trouble than risk him getting injured. Cos if Van P gets injured this season then Arsenal are F***D..

Having some problem with the balance of this team as I'm aiming for a 3-5-2 set up for the season close though I had previously played a successful 3-4-3. I've gotten rid of Vorm, Westwood, BAE, Enrique, Shotton, McAuley, McLean, Ade & Sturridge to end up with this:

    Krul Mignolet

    Richards, JEvans, ShawX, Taiwo, Caulker

    Valencia, Bale, Demps, Silva, Sess

    RVP, Dzeko, Morison

Dzeko, Sess & Morison are the only ones I'd consider downgrading to strenghten my Defence,

This is what it comes down to. Early kick off for RVP so you it will be make or break early doors if you go with him or the evening kick off to look forward to if Aguero is your man.

Everything good about Arsenal goes through the Reliant Robin whereas Silva is the orchestrator for City with Nasri, Milner even Johnson capable of getting goals/assists and of course up front Dzeko the Great? gets in the way and could share the goals with Sergio.

RVP is the safer option and Aguero is the sweaty palmed heart palpatating excitement choice.

Doubtful. All PL teams have under-soil heating this season and matches will only get called off if conditions around the stadium deteriorate to such an extent as to make it unsafe for supporters. That's normally a few days after heavy snow, when it begins to melt and turn to ice etc.

I've looked at alot of forecasts-Difficult to call-snow due from about 3pm, likely to be heavy. Doesn’t sound as if London will get it too bad, rest of country uncertain.

North East shouldn’t get it too bad based on the forecast. My interpretation of games at some risk:

      Stoke v Sundeland
      West Brom v Swansea
      Wigan v Everton
      MCFC v Fulham

      Purely theoretical

ok folks help me out here. After 9pm tomorrow I will not have internet access until after deadline, and am worried about cancellations. Should i do anything with this team

    Mignolet

    Santon., Richards, Taiwo

    Bale, Silva, McLean, Valencia

    RvP (c) Aguero (vc) Gerbil

    Schwarzer, Dempsey, Evans, Caulker

Am on wc so hits not an issue. Should I change anything or just rely on my bench as all 3 there look likely to play.

need to pick 3 defenders from:

BAE (Liv away) , Evans (Chels away) Simpson (AV home) Richards (already picked), Shotton (already benched)

I reckon Richards, Simpson & Evans

    bench BAE

    what do you reckon?

Before I start drinking too much and doubting my side, can you give this the once over and confirm it's indeed a sexual side and almost worth flicking one's wrist over?

    Krul (Mig)
    Taiwo Kompany Simpson
    Valencia Silva Bale McClean
    RVP Ba Aguero

Subs: Dempsey Caulker Kelly (Bank: 1.4)

If you can think of an obvious flaw/improvement, please speak now or forever hold your piston.

It's the defence. Otherwise I would indeed have hairy palms. I just can't cope with Taiwo and Caulker.

But with 1.4, I have plans in place to improve as the GWs go by.

It's not meant to be a side ready for the next 5 GWs with no changes needed... just looks a good starting team.

I dont think the names of 15 players on a computer screen if ever going to make me jack one off. Nonetheless, it is rather good. I am contemplating the Swa/Newc double on WC like you got.

How much is your team worth?
      Very strong.
You think Adebayor will do the business?

109m total.. I've got 2.4m in the bank.

Planning on taking out Ade soon and replacing with Aguero. Ireland to McClean too..

Not sure if he'll do it against Pool. But I think there will be goals in the game. Hence why I have Enrique and BAE on the bench.. It just looks ridiculous having them all on the bench!
