→ The 2014/15 season was Sergio Aguero's best ever for Fantasy returns. Seven of his goals/assists and 36 of his FPL points came in two meetings with which club that year? Scout Betting

With a bag full of points from the Scout Picks last gameweek, it was a surprise to see our Paddy Power wallet containing nothing but a used train ticket and a couple of crumpled receipts. Robert Huth’s early red card set the tone, with Sergio Aguero’s goal and a win at 4/5 the only market to come in. With Talent and Watchlist figures Gylfi Sigurdsson and Yakubu Aiyegbeni the main course of this week’s Flutter, it’s sure to be a feeding frenzy of rich returns.

The Yak is back. Whilst serving his three-match ban for a red card against Fulham, Yakubu’s Blackburn have slipped from their manager-saving form, topped off by a trouncing by Arsenal last weekend. Seemingly a talisman for the Kean revival, the sorely-missed striker will be essential to their tactics against visiting QPR on Saturday. Paddy have priced up a goal and a win at 5/2 and a brace at 9/1 . Both are tempting, but £2 on the former opens our account for another game-week.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been around a bit since his early loan spells at Shrewsbury and Crewe. A 16-goal season for Reading and subsequent sale to Hoffenheim have cultured the 22 year old into a real creative force for the Swansea midfield. A pound at 20/1 for him to score and assist against visiting Norwich is a long price and a bit of a risk, but one worth taking since he performed the same feat against West Brom last week on the road.

Clint Dempsey has been the mainstay for Fantasy line-ups for many seasons now, always commanding a decent performance to Fantasy point conversion. Not a cheap prospect, but neither the lavish cost of Silva or Nani, Dempsey’s price of 8.9 is likely to continue to rise with favourable home and away fixtures coming up. A visit from Stoke may well be one of the tougher clashes of the next few, but Paddy’s offering of 5/2 on a Dempsey goal and a Fulham win is not short on confidence. A £4 stake here should bring home £14; a decent wager considering suspended Robert Huth will only be able to track Dempsey’s runs from the sidelines.

Last week’s ‘Who Will Score the Most’ market turned in a respectable 5 goals, and although our pick Demba Ba was among those on the score sheet, Robin van Persie’s battering of Blackburn left us empty handed. This week Rooney, RVP and Aguero are in the mix, but perhaps facing off against tougher competition. Aguero at 15/8 is the longest price of the trio as City travel to Villa, but with only a couple of quid left from our tenner bank roll, it might be a risk worth taking.

Money Back Special

All eyes will be on Old Trafford for the early Gameweek 25 kick-off between Man United and Liverpool tomorrow lunchtime. No surprise, then, to see Paddy focus on this one for this week’s Money Back Special. If Luis Suarez scores a goal at any point in the match, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles. Paddy have also turned their attentions to this weekend’s Six Nations Rugby. If a number 11 scores the first try in the Italy v England, France v Ireland or Wales v Scotland clashes, Paddy Power will refund all losing try scorer bets on that match.

Does anyone else find it really funny how everyone (including myself!)deliberates endlessly over players like dempsey and silva when everyone decent actually has them, and its actually the cheap players that actually make the difference, often defenders! Random post but thoughti would put it out there :-

I think youd be surprised to find out how many people had abandoned Silva before their second Wild card, which city's form and fixtures were poor.

I think you would be surprised to find out how many people do not have Dempsey at all right now.

Sure, there is a variance from team to team, but it seems like most draw from the same small pool, of players. True, some teams don't have Dempsey or Silva, but they'll have just about all of the other usual suspects.

I agree. Most teams on here have the same 8-9 players so you really have to work around the edges to get an advantage. That's why I've always been a fan of building team value, so I could have one more premium player to make a difference.

I haven't really considered Bale to be honest, Dempsey seems the real deal at home and no Huth increases his chances. Sunderland would be top of the league if everyone started on scratch when Martin took over, although saying that they may be tired since FA cup match.

Bradley Orr is a strange signing, can't really understand why ye bought him. Taarbat will cause havoc tomorrow is my prediction although so will Yak, goals both ends I reckon

i don't know anything about orr, did he ever play for qpr? we were desperate for a right back, but it seems strange that he was the best we could get. we already have salgado, but he doesnt play anymore for contract reasons (gets an extension if he plays more games), the same with nelsen, j roberts etc etc. not world beaters, but decent level experienced PL players who have kept us up for the past few years

      Hey Nick,

I was on Aguero all week because of all the captains candidates, he plays the weakest defense. MY rule for years has been to pick the top form player against the weakest defense. Just CONSIDERING anyone else is bonkers.

Part of the problem was that I considered Newcastle an elite defense. Their recent road form suggests otherwise. Also, Defoe and Lennon will be back, but spurs will be WITHOUT King and Kaboul. Spurs likely CB pairing is Dawson...........and Nelson.

that tells me Spurs will know they need to score, because they are certain to concede. The game will be open and Newcastle without Tiote, Saylor, and Cabaye will be unable to keep Spurs out.

Dempsey is lone striker at Fulham right now. I don't think he will score as well without Zamora pulling defenders off of him. I rate Sunderland's defense at home, even against RVP, and even though they played at midweek/

        Nice thoughts,
I agree with all of it apart from 1 item...Nelsen is a legend!

I can't consider Aguero for an away game, he has done pretty much nothing away from home all season
I agree with you about Sunderland...they will be tough for arsenal to break down
        I don't know about Dempsey...he could easily get 2pts or 20pts
You are right about Newcastle without Tiote...i'm going to go for bale, i think he is the safer bet over dempsey

I wouldnt be getting rid of Cisse (well I would, D. Cisse though). It's Ba for DCisse and Bogdan for Lind (rotates well with Sorensen my other GK) for a hit, or PCisse for DCisse.

I guess I need to take risks to catch up in my league, but not sure about this one.

No Best = Cisse will start fer sure. Great differential if you need it. Also likely to play up front of Ba.. if it was anyone other than Spurs I'd have him this week.

I'd forget it until you see them in action, tbh. Last week was no test and we'll maybe even see if Cisse gets pen duties...

Lets see if betting odds give us a clue as to who to capt

Fulham 2.02 so there a 50% chance they dont win , not what you really want from your capts team
    Demp about 2.70 to score

Tottenh 1.53 much better , however Bale paying more than 3.00 to score

Arsenal 2.14 so the least likely of the three to win But at around 2.00 Van Persie the most likely to score

    Man c 1.73 looks prmising

Not much help here really , still thinking Bale the best bet as he is more likely to Assist than the others , playing in a side most likely to win

Been asking for a few days who to bench out of

    Caulker Kompany Bae or Riise

    Nearly everyone said Bench BAE

Clean sheet odds dont back this up

    tott 2.40 Fulham 2.40 Man c 2.60 Swansea 2.60
so seems logical to bench the swansea defender , especially as he the least likely to get any attacking points

More nice info. However, I wouldn't want to hope against Ba scoring, and that's not only because I am playing him tomorrow. I will playing Richards tomorrow who has a chance at a clean sheet and possibly an assist. The clean sheet odds don't take offensive returns into account. That said, BAE could assist as well. It seems like the more info we have the more questions we have.

Even if Ba loses a bit of the spotlight to his Senegalese mate, he will still be involved and is far, far more likely to put up big numbers than Zamora (I think). Siggy may be better than Taraabt, but Sess is really your fourth mid, and losing a bit at fifth mid is a reasonable price to pay for the upgrade to Ba in what will really be your second striker position.

Yeah, I have it on RVP at the moment with Bale as VC. It makes it a bit easier for me since I don't have Aguero or Dempsey.

The only other candidate would be Silva with Villa not being great at defending set pieces. Couple of interesting stats from Opta - Villa have conceded the most goals from corners this season (10, ahead of Bolton's 9) & have conceded 48% of goals from set pieces (second to Newcastle's 50%).

What tips it in RVP's favor for me at the moment at least is that it seems like he's nearly always involved in Arsenal's goals, through assists or goals. That he's on pens also helps.

Good question. I had the armband on him until I logged on tonight, have it on Dempsey now. Even if RVP plays Sunderland seem pretty tight right now. On the other hand he takes penalties where Bale and Dempsey do not. I'm still up in the air about.

Newman are you 100% switching over from Kun to Bale?

I have also been on Kun all week, trying to avoid a last minute captain-jerk.

    Remember:
    1) Kun on PKs(which Villa concede a lot)
    2) Kun as involved in City attack as Bale with Spurs
    3) City likely to score more against very weak backline as opposed to Spurs (can be a tight game/ blow wide open)

That is what I'm doing. I was swayed today. I overestimated Newcastle, I think.

I know Kun is on PKs, and that Villa concede a whole lot of them. That's the #1 reason I considered him.
I don't at all agree with point #2. I think Bale is much, much more involved in goals then Aguero is, especially lately
I can't see the Spurs game being tight. Lennon and Defoe are back, and we'll be fielding Dawson and Nelson, meaning we will probably concede, and will feel we need to score goals.
City will probably score more, but Villa could pull and Everton and park the bus, as well.
You also can't ignore than little away from problem, as well as Bale's form at home.

As you know, I had Aguero all week, but its Bale for sure, now.

All the facts you need written above, Dame.

Doos and Dunny were the convincing arguements.

ok. History speaks for itself. City has been very poor away from goal. you should read some stats from Totalfpl.com. And Aguero has been subbed off at 70 mins for most games which reduces chances of more goals/assists.

A note on balance, or imbalance as it were, I scored 83 points last week, 67 of those came from my front line. Very disturbing and I hoe it doesn't become a trend.

Don't fancy scoring 83 every week?

Ha, yeah, I would like to make 83 pt weeks a trend but that won't happen if it always comes down to my forwards.

I got 94 last week only 6 of which came from my defence/keeper.... an absolute howler of a defensive week turned into easily my biggest points tally... despite the fact that i spent pretty big on my defence in the WC...

however i get the points i'm happy... just as long as i get em...

If you have both, just choose one. Sunderland won't do much, I guess. Why? Tiredness.
