→ The 2014/15 season was Sergio Aguero's best ever for Fantasy returns. Seven of his goals/assists and 36 of his FPL points came in two meetings with which club that year? Scout Betting

With a bag full of points from the Scout Picks last gameweek, it was a surprise to see our Paddy Power wallet containing nothing but a used train ticket and a couple of crumpled receipts. Robert Huth’s early red card set the tone, with Sergio Aguero’s goal and a win at 4/5 the only market to come in. With Talent and Watchlist figures Gylfi Sigurdsson and Yakubu Aiyegbeni the main course of this week’s Flutter, it’s sure to be a feeding frenzy of rich returns.

The Yak is back. Whilst serving his three-match ban for a red card against Fulham, Yakubu’s Blackburn have slipped from their manager-saving form, topped off by a trouncing by Arsenal last weekend. Seemingly a talisman for the Kean revival, the sorely-missed striker will be essential to their tactics against visiting QPR on Saturday. Paddy have priced up a goal and a win at 5/2 and a brace at 9/1 . Both are tempting, but £2 on the former opens our account for another game-week.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been around a bit since his early loan spells at Shrewsbury and Crewe. A 16-goal season for Reading and subsequent sale to Hoffenheim have cultured the 22 year old into a real creative force for the Swansea midfield. A pound at 20/1 for him to score and assist against visiting Norwich is a long price and a bit of a risk, but one worth taking since he performed the same feat against West Brom last week on the road.

Clint Dempsey has been the mainstay for Fantasy line-ups for many seasons now, always commanding a decent performance to Fantasy point conversion. Not a cheap prospect, but neither the lavish cost of Silva or Nani, Dempsey’s price of 8.9 is likely to continue to rise with favourable home and away fixtures coming up. A visit from Stoke may well be one of the tougher clashes of the next few, but Paddy’s offering of 5/2 on a Dempsey goal and a Fulham win is not short on confidence. A £4 stake here should bring home £14; a decent wager considering suspended Robert Huth will only be able to track Dempsey’s runs from the sidelines.

Last week’s ‘Who Will Score the Most’ market turned in a respectable 5 goals, and although our pick Demba Ba was among those on the score sheet, Robin van Persie’s battering of Blackburn left us empty handed. This week Rooney, RVP and Aguero are in the mix, but perhaps facing off against tougher competition. Aguero at 15/8 is the longest price of the trio as City travel to Villa, but with only a couple of quid left from our tenner bank roll, it might be a risk worth taking.

Money Back Special

All eyes will be on Old Trafford for the early Gameweek 25 kick-off between Man United and Liverpool tomorrow lunchtime. No surprise, then, to see Paddy focus on this one for this week’s Money Back Special. If Luis Suarez scores a goal at any point in the match, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles. Paddy have also turned their attentions to this weekend’s Six Nations Rugby. If a number 11 scores the first try in the Italy v England, France v Ireland or Wales v Scotland clashes, Paddy Power will refund all losing try scorer bets on that match.

Dempsey for me. Home against a poor Stoke side. Van persie is always a good bet but Sunderland are on fire at the moment. Cant see Van Persie getting more than 1 goal so happy to take the risk. heres hoping for a Dempsey hat trick!

Regarding the RVP, Bale, Dempsey captain debate the reverse fixutre result was: RVP-2 goals 12 pts.(3 bonus), Dempsey-1 goal 7 pts., and Bale 0 goals 2 pts. Food for thought.

True, and RVP played at home, so you can read that into it. I think I am bouncing back to RVP. Looks like he is definitely starting, he's on pens, and as someone noted last page, he is involved in most scoring arsenal do, goal-wise or assists. The game should be pretty open as I think Sunderland will score as well as Arsenal. My two cents.

Also important to note that Sunderland were still under the management of Steve Bruce when RVP got those goals... they are a completely different beast now.... your comparisons don't really have any bearing on this weekends games...

Haha, mine is on RVP again.

I usually just go with my gut but this week it's tough.

RVP is a magician with his left foot though and he's been in incredible form, however Sunderland are a good opposition and he's playing away.

Bale is at home and has been great at home, however didn't look great against Liverpool (admittedly they're a great defending team) but it's a tough one.

It was always between dempsey and bale..

What spun it in Bales favour was NO Cabaye and Tiote..
Modric and Parker will own that midfield today..

Nufc were extremely lucky not concede vs Blackburn..
Even Aston Villa split open the nufc defense so many times that if only Bent had been able to finish 1 or 2 of his 1 on 1s, Villa might have gotten something from the game..

Plus Bale makes many inward runs these days.. he is very central most of the times and Ade is surprisingly deeper and wide sometimes..

        So Bale it was..

As for Dempsey I havent seen many Fulham or Stoke games to analyse them and make a decision..

NUMBER 10 (and anyone else), responded on previous page but may have gotten lost. Here it is again:

I have the armband on RVP at the moment with Bale as VC. It makes it a bit easier for me since I don’t have Aguero or Dempsey.

The only other candidate would be Silva with Villa not being great at defending set pieces. Couple of interesting stats from Opta – Villa have conceded the most goals from corners this season (10, ahead of Bolton’s 9) & have conceded 48% of goals from set pieces (second to Newcastle’s 50%).

What tips it in RVP’s favor for me at the moment at least is that it seems like he’s nearly always involved in Arsenal’s goals, through assists or goals. That he’s on pens also helps.

Yes, I saw your post and referenced it a few minutes ago. Your point that RVP is almost always involved in the scoring hit home for me. You're spot on, he may only score one goal but he could add two assists and the get 2 or 3 bonus. To be fair, Bale and Dempsey get an additional point per goal and clean sheet. I'm not sure Stoke will score but I do think Newcastle will. Blah, blah, blah, so on and so on, I'm back to RVP for captain.

    Given HVSAUCE link earlier http://www.arsenal.com/match-m.....ab=preview

Knowing that RVP will start. How can we not give the armband to RVP?

    1. 3G 2A last week (The highest total of any player all season)
    2. Can score against any team
    3. On penos
    4. Responcible for 50% of Arsenals Production.
    5. SUN starting XI played 120 mins on wednesday!
    6. Surely SUN cannot get 4 CS in a row

    Trying to eliminate the alternatives!

Aguero - imo not on the greatest form (especially away), seems to be playing deeper on paremeter.
Bale - Love him but did not look great Monday night and seems to struggle against the big clubs (Toon are no push over). No peno
Dempsey - Hit and Miss! FUL Could easily throw up a blank. No Peno No Zamora to feed him.

After WC we all have generic teams (7 Players the same in most cases). Thus, the (C) decision is so important this week. UGH!!!! I AM GOING MAD!!

      4) It the other 50% that the problem

1.It was against BB at home with 10 men without their best defender, it may or may not happen this week.
      2.Sure, but fixtures help.
3.Only good if they get one
4.If arsenal only score 1, which I anticipate them to, then?
5.That doesn't matter that much as people suggest.
6.Again if they concede one, and why not anyway?

      You could give similar things for Bale;
      1. His last 6 games at home have produced 49 points, RVP's last 6 away have produced 38
      2. Newcastles goals conceded in their last 5 away have been 0, 5, 3, 0, 4 compared to Sunderlands home record of 1, 1, 0, 0, 0.
      3. Newcastle will be with Cabaye and Tiote, and Simpson has been a liability the last few weeks, Bale could easily rip him apart.
      4. Newcastle have conceded the second most shots on goal in the last 4 weeks, only Wolves have conceded more.
Not to mention some of your other points which seem ridiculous.
      - Can score against any team? Like Mancester City, for example?
      - Surely SUN cannot get 4 CS in a row? Of course they can, it isn't impossible.
      - Aguero playing deeper? You've been told a few times, by me and others, that Aguero still holds the highest average position in the Man City squad.
      - Toon may be no pushover, but they are certainly poor away from home.
      - Dempsey hit and miss, could throw up a blank? RVP just 2 weeks ago threw up a blank against Bolton of all teams

I love how you conveniently leave out blanks vs AVL and BLB 🙂 anyway, I was talking about his scores over a stretch of time like 5 games both home and away

RVP had blanks against Fulham and Bolton (recently) arguably worse than Aston Villa and Blackburn (early on)
We aren't talking about over a stretch of 5 or so games when captaining, unless of course you are, again, drifting off into another subject.

I feel I must give a suitable reply, so you're telling me that drawing blanks against Bolton at the reebok[ where they beat liverpool 3-1] and Fulham at Craven Cottage is worse than drawing blanks at home vs AVL and BLB [ who have conceded the maximum number of goals] ?

First of all, Aston Villa (who have conceded less goals than Fulham and Bolton) weren't conceding tonnes of goals at the start of the season, there is a clear difference between form now, and form in the first 4 GW's, therefore it is a harsh comparison.
If you are honestly saying that drawing a blank against Bolton (who might I add, have conceded 16 more goals than Aston Villa this season) is nothing short of a massive disappointment then you are delusional.

Total points away from home RVP - 84
                    Dempsey at home - 81 ,
Number of times RVP has scored>10 = 4
Number of times dempsey has scored >10 =4, so technically speaking both of them are at par, Oh and you failed to add, BLB have conceded 30 away goals thats almost equal to the goals conceded by fulham both home and away, if you fail to score vs BLB and that's not a disappointment then you are delusional and it's not like dempsey was "out of form" he scored vs new.

I wasn't talking about Blackburn, I wasn't trying to support the fact that Dempsey drawing a blank against them isn't a bad thing.
You were the one saying 'oh but Bolton beat Liverpool so it's not that bad blah blah blah' I backed up against Villa early on as they weren't poor at the start, but never did I say against Blackburn, so no...no I wasn't saying that it was a disappointment, don't put words in my mouth.

I agree totally with this. Also agree with your last comment about OX. Imo if OX and Walcott are on form, RVP has a much better shot at a big haul. Same could be said on the TOT front. If lennon, Modric are on form, Bale could have also have a big haul.

Now I'm back-tracking. If we think that RVP, Bale, and Dempsey are all in good form, then maybe we revert to fixtures to decide. In which case it has to be Dempsey at home against a faltering Stoke team/defense.

Stoke away (last 5) - 2 goals conceded vs United (2 penalties) clean sheet vs Liverpool, 1 goal conceded against Blackburn, 3 goals conceded vs Man City (the team they put out there was missing alot of their better players) 1 goals conceded vs Wolves.
Newcastle away (last 5) - Clean sheet vs Blackburn, 5 goals conceded vs Fulham, 3 goals conceded vs Liverpool, clean sheet against Bolton, 4 goals conceded vs Norwich.
Newcastle have conceded 5 more goals away from home in the last 5, and that have played 7th place, 9th, 14th, 18th and 19th compared to Stoke against 1st place, 2nd, 7th, 17th and 19th

If we're following your logic then you have to count the vastly superior attacking threat of Spurs compared to Fulham... against a wildly inconsistent Magpies (away from home) who are without two key midfielders... Bale is every bit as good a candidate as Dempsey for the armband...

On the road..I think it's absolutely mental people saying things like that. ALL of the signs are the that given space, Kun is fantastic player and finished. I'm sure he has the mental stability and ability to score goals on the road and it could very well be against a Villa said who are playing very poorly at home this season. Just my opinion.

Morn/evenin' DeadZoners.. approaching 11th hours here and I still ain't made my mind up... last GW left me with this:

    Vorm
    Richards, BAE, Rangel, Evans
    Bale, Valencia, Ben Arfa, Moses
    RVP Aguero

    Krul Kelly Cabaye DCisse

    I have 1.8m, 2FT 🙂

I wanna keep Cabaye. Carrying over the 2FT from last week so it's 'use one or lose one'. Can't decide if HBA or DCisse is the most urgent sale...

Plan A: HBA > Siggy. Next week, depending who does what at Spurs, DCisse > Ba/PCisse. I have a feeling I'll be glad I still have 2FT to play with…

Plan B: Go HBA>Siggy, Valencia>Dempsey, still leaves me with 1.4 to swap DCisse out next GW.

Any thoughts? Is Plan A strong enough for this GW? Is Val>Demps even worth considering?

This GW the choice is academic, imo.

Next week the toon have Wolves and Cabye gets to play with his Senegalese chums. I'd hate to miss out, especially as I missed out on Cabaye's price drop...

Dempsey is one of captain choices this week and Fulham still have a run of good fixtures coming. I think it's worth to get him but save 1 FT to next week.

The reason I actually think Zamora will do quite well against B'burn is...QPR have just lost a vital match against Wolves, B'burn have just got slaughtered and are without Samba, everything points to a goalfest, basically last one to score wins, i can see it being 4-3, so maybe Zamora is a good option

Alright then, after chopping and changing my team all bloody week, here's what I've settled on:

    Vorm
    Richards, Taiwo, JEvans
    Dempo, Silva, Bale(c), Siggy
    RVP(vc), Aguero, Ba
    (Krul, Sess, Enrique, Senderos)

The injury to Senderos prompted a NTaylor -> JEvans swap, wasn't too keen on playing Enrique away to United.

Anything I need to reconsider? Sess to Siggy was the last change made, and came down to matchups more than anything.

If people think NUFC without Cabaye / Tiote will have trouble to fight in the midfield against Parker / Modric and, hence Bale is more interesting captain choice than others.

What do you think that missing would also affect chances of Ba to score?

I'm now considering to bench one of Sess (probably tired or injured) or Ba.
    What do you suggest?

    Silva - Bale - Dempsey - Valencia - ? Sess ?
    RvP - Aguero - ? Ba ?

I reckon Ba will do something against us.

I currently have Sess benched. It is just something unsettling about him having played all games this season, and coming off with some sort of injury/fatigue after 120 minutes of local derby some days back.

I did do Valencia âž¡ Sigurdsson however.

I have almost the exact same problem.. except I have Dezko for Aguero

It was between Ba and Sess for me.. And Ba was on my bench most of this week..

But then Sess went on and played 120 mins and I have renewed confidence in the Arsenal defense with Sagna and Gibbs back and Song getting his groove back..

If Arsenal play their normal XI I very much predict a CS or a set piece goal from larsson at best..

      Sunderland wont outplay Arsenal..
