David Silva will miss Spain’s friendly with Argentina on Tuesday, Stoke City’s attack gets a boost and a number of Premier League stars are in action during Saturday’s international fixtures.

Manchester City’s Silva has been allowed to leave Spain’s squad for “personal reasons”.

The 32-year-old, owned by 10.3% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, started and played 71 minutes of Friday’s 1-1 draw with Germany.

But he will play no part in Tuesday’s match with Argentina in Madrid and there is no official confirmation either way as to his availability for City’s fixture at Everton on Saturday evening.

Silva has missed a number of domestic matches this season following the premature birth of his son and this latest development will put the 55,000+ who have signed him ahead of Gameweek 32 on alert.

Diouf boost for Potters

Stoke City hope to have both Mame Diouf and Xherdan Shaqiri available for Sunday’s Gameweek 32 trip to Arsenal.

Diouf has missed the last two matches with a shoulder injury, leaving Potters manager Paul Lambert to make do and mend up front, with midfielder Eric Choupo-Moting and veteran forward Peter Crouch both used in the lone striker role.

Lambert’s assistant manager, Stuart Taylor, has now said that Diouf is “coming along nicely”. He is currently away with Senegal and could feature in Tuesday’s friendly with Bosnia Herzegovina.

Taylor added that the 12.5%-owned Shaqiri is continuing to rest after pulling out of Switzerland duty with a calf injury.

“You’ve got to go through the pain barrier which a lot of players do in fairness to them – Xherdan Shaqiri was one of those last weekend for us.”

The playmaker passed a fitness test to feature against Everton last time out, though according to Taylor, signalled to the bench to request his withdrawal on 76 minutes. While Shaqiri is willing to play with the injury, his ability to complete 90 minutes still looks in question, particularly at Arsenal in Gameweek 32.

Midfield stars in action

Three major midfield assets were involved in yesterday’s international fixtures, with the most popular – Spurs’ 15.1%-owned Son Heung-min – playing 75 minutes in South Korea’s 2-1 loss to Northern Ireland.

Son couldn’t repeat his blistering domestic form – he’s scored four goals in his last two Gameweeks – for his country, but he remains a key Gameweek 32 target, with more than 82,000 managers making him the third most purchased player ahead of next weekend’s action.

Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-yueng played 67 minutes in Belfast, while West Brom duo Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans featured for 90 and 68 minutes respectively for the hosts.

Arsenal’s 11.7%-owned midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan played the full 90 minutes in Armenia’s 0-0 draw at home to Estonia, with Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan doing likewise for the visitors.

Meanwhile, Man United star Alexis Sanchez provided the assist for Chile’s late winner in a 2-1 victory in Sweden.

The 2.8%-owned attacker played the full 90 minutes and it was his shot, saved by Swansea City keeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt, that was turned in on the rebound to seal the win.

Nordfeldt’s club-mate Martin Olsson played the full match for the Swedes, as did Man United centre-half Victor Lindelöf.

Elsewhere…

Leicester City winger Demarai Gray scored for England U21s in a 2-1 win over their Romanian counterparts.

The midfielder captained the side and played 59 minutes before being replaced by Everton full-back Jonjoe Kenny.

Other Premier League players in action were Trent Alexander-Arnold, who provided the assist for England’s winner, and Kyle Walker-Peters, the pair both featuring for the full 90 minutes.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles played for 70 minutes but limped off with an injury which will need assessment. Meanwhile, Tammy Abraham enjoyed 84 minutes before being replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Lindelöf’s team-mate Eric Bailly and Spurs full-back Serge Aurier were part of an Ivory Coast defence that couldn’t hold on to a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw away in Togo.

The pair played the full 90 minutes, while Brighton striker Tomer Hemed scored on the hour for Israel and was subbed off just a minute later as his side lost 2-1 at home to Romania.

Watford’s André Carrillo was on target for Peru as they defeated Croatia 2-0 in the early hours of Saturday morning, while club-mate Sebastian Prödl played the full 90 minutes in Austria’s 3-0 win over Slovenia on Friday.

    Hows this WC looking?

    De Gea Ryan
    Alonso Baily Morgan Lowton Tark

    Salah Mahrez Gudmundson Mikhi Willian
    Auba Murray Vardy

    GW 33 Mikhi to Son
    GW 34 Auba to Kaku
    GW 35 FH
    GW 36 Kaku to Kane

I'd just get Son right away. I'll have the same front eight in GW34 but my WC now has:

      Salah Mahrez Son Willian Gudmundsson
      Lukaku Auba Murray

      GW33: Save
GW34: Auba->Vardy and one FT for injuries/suspensions or just upgrading one defender.

Maybe mindnumblingly boring cos there aren’t that many options in gw34. More a case of damage limitation. Gw37 will give people more opportunity to be creative.

Burnley have double in week 34 and game in 35. For those with no FH triple Burnley therefore a consideration. Which 3 would you choose ?

    A Lowton Gudmundsson Barnes
    B Lowton Tarkowski Gudmundsson
    C Lowton Tarkowski Wood
    D Lowton Gudmundsson Wood
E Any other preferred triple up? Not Pope/Heaton as too much uncertainty as to when Heaton back in first team

    For the next two:

    A) Smalling + Gudmundsson + Vardy
    B) Bailly + Cork + Vardy
    C) [4.4 DEF] + Cork + Aubameyang

For DGW34 I plan to get Vardy and a United defender; this could be done via two transfers or less in either of the three scenarios above. Rest of my team for reference:

    DDG / Ryan
    Alonso / [X] / Lowten / Morgan / VDH
    Salah / Mahrez / Son / Willian / [X]
    Lukaku / Firmino / [X]

Lowton/Morgan/VDH/[4.4] are ample cover for the next two. Just a case of whether Auba is worth it or not, right?

If any Burnley fans here do you expect Wood to start every game now fit?

    1. Little Frank
      • 14 Years
      7 years, 9 months ago

Normally I would say yes but hard to see Dyche dropping Barnes in his current run of form. The other alternative would be for him to drop Hendrick and play Barnes and Wood in a 4-4-2 (something a lot of Burnley fan would like to see) but Hendrick is a big favourite of Dyche's and his current thinking seems to be to keep it tight playing a 4-5-1 for the first hour or so, then bring Wood on for the remainder and play 4-4-2.
So in short I'd say Wood isn't guaranteed to start every game from now on but should certainly get some game time.

So what front 3 are you looking at? Murray only other feasible option for me with Lukaku and Vardy but he has risk too with Locadia so may just risk Barnes and hope for a goal between the 2 games. Will be on my bench weeks 32 and 33

    Best cheap defensive options?

    Lowton and Morgan appear certainties

Can’t see many others past them.

Stephens at risk with Yoshida coming back

Dunk ok, but lots have Ryan and the double up not ideal

Tarkowski maybe, but again a double up not great

Mariappa maybe with a single GW

    Anyone else?

Any argument for keeping Firmino on a WC?

Personally I can't see any reason to keep him since Aubameyang looks a better shout of the non-DGW players and then Lukaku and Vardy look better of the DGW players. Plus his funds can be used elsewhere.

Can anyone convince me otherwise (perhaps to keep him over getting Aubameyang)?

Courtois is sane price and dgw34. Think he's being more overlooked.
Currently lining up DDG, Courtois for my dgw34

I prefer Willian, Alonso and Azpi over Courtois. And perhaps keeping a spot for Hazard also.

I was going to do Auba > Vardy in GW34, but is that not actually a good idea?

No idea how to squeeze an extra United defender in if it's Bobby who I lose instead of Pierre!

Money no object - Aubameyang or Vardy from now till end of season? With Aubameyang being cup tied in Europa does it make him he better bet?

Or alternatively should it be Vardy GW32, 33, 34.... then switch to Auba in GW35?

Auba will score more points. It's about owning both of them for the right gameweeks.

How is she looking? On WC no FH.

    DDG - Hennessy
    Alonso - Mustafi - Morgan - Tark - Lowton
    Salah - Gross - Mahrez - Son - Willian
    Auba - Barnes - Vardy

1.1 ITB for Auba >> Lukaku in 34 leaves me with......

    GW34 - 12 DGW players
    GW35 - 9 players (-4 from 3 transfers)
GW37 - 11 DGW players with TC Kane.

Is Son essential? Currently on :

    DDG, Ryan
    Smalling, Alonso, Monreal, Lowton, Morgan
    Mahrez, Ramsey, Gross, Willian, Salah
    Lukaku, Aubemeyang, Barnes

No I wouldn't say essential this side of the dgw due to fixtures. But after gw35 he looks close to essential depending on if he's still nailed.

    Case against Lukaku:

Swansea are not the worst team defensively. Apart from that 4-1 away defeat to Brighton, they've conceded 7 goals in their last 10 matches having faced Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal and Leicester, so I don't see ManUtd destroying them in gw32.
Then ManUtd play away to ManCity in gw33. Do you really think Lukaku can do a lot in that match?
Having the above 2 thoughts in mind, compare them with Aubameyang's fixtures in gwks 32 and 33.
Stoke at home, Southampton at home. He doesn't have any distraction from other competitions (Lukaku still in FA cup) which means he'll give his best in the remaining matches.

I think Auba has to be in our teams for gwks 32 and 33 at least.
We monitor his and Lukaku's performances during these 2 matches and then decide if Auba deserves to stay in our teams in gw34 even if he plays just once against Newcastle.
Even at that point of decision before dgw34, we shouldn't forget that ManUtd will play vs WestBrom on 15/4, vs Bourmemouth on 18/4 and vs Tottenham on 21/4 for the FA cup.
Wouldn't that mean rotation = weaker team possibly for the match 3 days before the FA cup semi?
Wouldn't a weaker XI weaken Lukaku's potential to score big?

      Yep.
Auba stays in my team until gw34 . But might just have to swap for Kaku in 34. I just can't let a Wba/Whu fixture go wanting.

    A) Dilva to Gross (for next couple only)
    B) Dilva to Lingard (could keep for dgws, could be a gem despite winter form...)
    C) Keep Dilva despite him not being confirmed (gained 0.1 since buying, and could be a gem too)
    D) Dilva to ???

I’ve got Sterling and I’m keeping.

Trouble about being too clever is that due to losing money when selling, people will be priced out and unable to buy back.

Man City have some great end of season fixtures.

Yeah he was good at the start. Picked up some good points there myself. But for me his troll status runs seasons deep and very hard to shake off. Will still be likey getting him in with Vardy for 34 myself. but if I had to choose I would have Vardy.
