Suspension Tightrope – A New Lowe

If it wasn’t for his penchant for yellow, Blackburn’s utility man Jason Lowe would be a mere speck on the Fantasy landscape. Given that he’s been sitting on top of our Suspension Tightrope for the last few weeks, though, it’s only fair Lowe gets his day in the sun:

In the course of his 21 league appearances, and 1763 minutes, Lowe has managed to concede just 19 fouls (1 foul every 92.8 minutes). As highlighted a couple of weeks ago, that’s not a great deal compared to the 61 fouls chalked up against Grant Holt in only 1429 minutes (1 foul every 23.4 minutes).

Thanks to another caution in Saturday’s win over QPR, however, the Blackburn utility man has now accumulated 9 league cards to add to his league cup indiscretion, and those 10 bookings will land him a stern talking to and a two-match ban from the FA. Lowe will therefore be missing from Rovers’ Gameweek 26 and 27 fixtures, away at Manchester City and home to Aston Villa.

Elsewhere this gameweek, there was also an eighth yellow card for Chelsea’s Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles, who now joins his club captain John Terry at the top of our tightrope widget. Scott Parker of Tottenham, Terry’s potential replacement in the England skipper role, earned his seventh caution of the season, as did Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne.

Parker’s latest booking is his 85th in the Premier League and now ranks him fifth on the all-time list, level with George Boateng (the Ghanain born Dutchman, once of Aston Villa and Middlesborough, now plying his trade at Nottingham Forest). He still trails Lee Bowyer (recently at Birmingham and now at Championship club, Ipswich) who amassed 101 Premier League cautions, and Kevin Davies, whose booking on Saturday brought up his ton.

Finally a nod to those returning from bans in time for the FA Cup matches this coming weekend. We should see Mario Balotelli (MCI), Yohan Cabaye (NEW) and Karl Henry (WOL) back in action, while those below -and, of course, any player seeing red in next week’s games- will sit out the next league fixture.

  I forgot about my wildcard til week 6, then realised I had to use it or lose it, so made a whole team of one week punts after finding out the lineups and who was rotated.

    And yeah, basically my thinking is players who you think will do well at home, and alright away, keep an APOEL cheapie or two, Marseille players against Inter a good shout.
    
    I reckon Messi is a season keeper, he will playin all matches unless the victory is already all but guaranteed, and will create things every game, I had Ronaldo early on, think I'll get him back now as Madrid should walk over CSKA, Maybe AC Milan players as Arsenal's defence is poor..
    
    And I think I'll hold onto Mata, he seems suited to European football

I have come to the conclusion that Lescott is best option in city defence. Full backs get rested/rotated and he us more od a threat than Kompany

    I'd lose 0.4 and could get him back. Thing is, we're into the business end of the season where most of the top 100,000 or so have very similar teams. If i stick to tried and trusted RVP i'm not gonna gain any ground at all. If I ditch RVP my midfield would be: Bale, Valencia, Silva, Dempsey and Mata... Pretty formidable

  Ditching Bale is a fast car to a broken heart ... one bad week is not enough to pass the guy over. I reckon he'll pipe back up now that Adebayor has had his flash in the pan.
  
  Having said that when i saw that Tots had knocked 5 in against Newcastle and Bale had done NOTHING I was broken hearted, so maybe he needs a few weeks in the naughty corner.

Bloody hell Nomar, that is some slide. And your team IS good. I've had a crap week. My worst ever in FPL I think. I try and shrug it off, it's only a game and all that but when you put so much time and effort in, it really pisses you off when it goes wrong.

        Had I done the same transfers last week for an 8 point hit I'd be 14 points and .5m better off. Or had I done the same transfers last week for no hit instead of BAE and Ade out then I'd be god knows how much better off.
        
        Yet I'm still far more pissed about McClean on the bench this week!

  Used to be 2 points for a midfield CS, only -2 points for a sending off, nothing for OGs, just 3 points for man of the match (no 2s and 1s). Once had an assist the assist rule for a season.
