If it wasn’t for his penchant for yellow, Blackburn’s utility man Jason Lowe would be a mere speck on the Fantasy landscape. Given that he’s been sitting on top of our Suspension Tightrope for the last few weeks, though, it’s only fair Lowe gets his day in the sun:

In the course of his 21 league appearances, and 1763 minutes, Lowe has managed to concede just 19 fouls (1 foul every 92.8 minutes). As highlighted a couple of weeks ago, that’s not a great deal compared to the 61 fouls chalked up against Grant Holt in only 1429 minutes (1 foul every 23.4 minutes).

Thanks to another caution in Saturday’s win over QPR, however, the Blackburn utility man has now accumulated 9 league cards to add to his league cup indiscretion, and those 10 bookings will land him a stern talking to and a two-match ban from the FA. Lowe will therefore be missing from Rovers’ Gameweek 26 and 27 fixtures, away at Manchester City and home to Aston Villa.

Elsewhere this gameweek, there was also an eighth yellow card for Chelsea’s Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles, who now joins his club captain John Terry at the top of our tightrope widget. Scott Parker of Tottenham, Terry’s potential replacement in the England skipper role, earned his seventh caution of the season, as did Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne.

Parker’s latest booking is his 85th in the Premier League and now ranks him fifth on the all-time list, level with George Boateng (the Ghanain born Dutchman, once of Aston Villa and Middlesborough, now plying his trade at Nottingham Forest). He still trails Lee Bowyer (recently at Birmingham and now at Championship club, Ipswich) who amassed 101 Premier League cautions, and Kevin Davies, whose booking on Saturday brought up his ton.

Finally a nod to those returning from bans in time for the FA Cup matches this coming weekend. We should see Mario Balotelli (MCI), Yohan Cabaye (NEW) and Karl Henry (WOL) back in action, while those below -and, of course, any player seeing red in next week’s games- will sit out the next league fixture.

GAMEWEEK 26 BANS

  • Gaël Givet (BLA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (second of 3 matches)
  • Jason Lowe (BLA) – 10 Yellows (first of 2 matches)
  • Djibril Cissé (QPR) – 1 Red for serious foul play (second of 3 matches)
  • Robert Huth (STO) – 1 Red for serious foul play (last of 3 matches)

I think this is a blessing in a disguise for you mate. That is two quite uncertain punts.

Tarbat has yet to perform in the EPL.

While Balotelli is being rotated like a dinner plate at a Chinese circus. And now even with Tevez to comete with.

Somehow I'm 34-33 up this week pre BPs in my main H2H - who's your money on after they've been allocated (I've only shown players I think have half a chance of BPs...)?

    Me: Kompany, Silva, Dempsey(c), Aguero?
    Him: Riise, Dempsey, Silva

Any ideas for the below this week? 2 freebies, 0.0m in the bank and I'm planning on WC in GW28. Was thinking of just doing Rangel -> Williamson and then using 2 next week?

    Sorenson
    Kompany, Simpson, Rangel
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Moses
    RVP, Aguero, Ba

I would hold off on doubling up with Newcastle defence ... i'd be off-loading Huth - perhaps for Shawcross and then upgrading Rangel to J Evans.

Won't Tiote and Cabaye be back in CM though? With those 2 there they are normally pretty tight at home, and they are hosting WOL who are awful at the moment. Tempting to hold onto Huth for NOR in GW27 before I reshuffle in the GW28 wildcard.

True, no doubting it could work. But it's an all-or-nothing approach which could easily backfire if Newcastle let Fletcher nod one home. Take Swansea this week, a lot of people (including your good self) brought in double Swansea defence thinking they're a good chance to keep Norwich out and then end up with 2s and 1s in the backline.

No offense, intended ... I'll probably play Krul and Santon ... but i don't like doubling up in defence if it's avoidable.

You do have the luxury of an imminent WC so can chase points this week with no consequence if it goes either way!

Yeah, if it wasn't for this WC in hand I would probably look at JEvans for the long term. The only problem I have if I do the above is I'll have 2 freebies next week that I have to use or lose (I'm pretty set on WC in GW28), and I'm struggling to see where - any ideas?

            Schwarzer (WOL)
Kompany (BOL), Huth (NOR), Simpson (SUN)
Silva (BOL), Bale (mun), Dempsey (WOL), Sigurdsson (wig)
            RVP(liv), Aguero (BOL), Ba (SUN)

Sorenson (NOR), Moses (SWA), Williamson (SUN), Caulker (wig)

              ok .. i see

              1) why do you need to WC in GW 28 if you're team is in good shape already, and all the way up to that GW?

              2) if you're team is in good shape you don't need to worry about losing transfers ... we all like hitting that confirm transfers button but you're starting 11 are pretty solid, i can't honestly see that much wrong with it between now and then.

              3) seeing that you're ahead in most of your leagues you don't need to chase differentials, just need smart / lucky captains choices to stay in front - play the numbers.

              4) take this advice from someone who is in horrible fantasy form

        Agreed:

Turner - also conceded as West Brom tend to
        Cahill - potential heartbreaker
Santon - guaranteed start and gets forward, wolves are aweful ATM
Naylor - in a side that are shipping goals by the bucket-load at the moment
Zabaleta - why? Lescott, Richards, Kompany all much better options

With Saylor out for the foreseeable, and Raylor destined for a more mid-attacking role (largely cos he's a shite defender) I'd say Santon was as nailed on as Colo & Simpson. He's preferable to Perch, anyway. WIlko the most likey 4th.

Cheers. I'm putting the spurs result down to a freak. They are well ahead of us in the grand scheme of things, and were on the top of their form. We had 4 players missing from our strongest 11, and just didn't turn up. We will have 3 of those back for our nice run of WOL, SUN, ars, NOR, so I would like to think we can still be there or there abouts going into the business end of the season. Injuries will mean that we probably won't be challenging for 4th at the end, but as long as we have some luck on that front (keeping colo fit it key) there is no reason why we can't challenge for europa.

The result might actually be good for us in the long term. Mike Ashley was there watching, and he would have seen that our back up players (Perch, Williamson, etc) just aren't up to it. Hopefully it will convince him to invest in the summer. It wouldn't take much to have us challenging for 4th spot. A first choice right back and right mid (if Barfa doesn't work out), experienced defensive midfield back up, a young, promising striker and centre back back up, I think would just about do it.

I'm looking forward to see double demba against the Wolves defence next game week!

    Mignolet | Taiwo, Verm, Morison

    1FT & 0.0m in the bank.

Good team HV, but no Aguero for the next 2 & I'd be worried. The problem with Richards is that he isn't nailed-on like Kompany, so you just can't be sure he'd start. Save the FT and see how many minutes Richards gets over the 2 Europa games.

Can't figure out how to work Aguero in there without blowing the rest of the team up. Unless I move RVP! Do you see any other way I could do this? Obviously willing to take a 4 or 8 pt hit if necessary...

True, you'd need an 8-pt hit at the least: Sess/Val > McC; Verm > Kelly; Morison > Kun. Not worth it though.

Maybe monitor the forwards situation for City during the Europa & draft Balo in for the home games. Could be a risky but useful punt.

I might be wrong here but in my mind Lescott SHOULD be nailed on, he's scored two goals in their last few games and not put a foot wrong really defensively. I'd say Mancini might lay off the rotation as the season comes to a close. You can't just throw in Toure for a laugh when you're top of the table.
