Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Papiss Cisse, Kevin Doyle, Pavel Pogrebnyak, Peter Odemwingie and James Morrison – these were the protagonists from Saturday’s Fantasy events so far. Of that bunch, only Odemwingie can claim more than 3% Fantasy Premier League ownership.

All eyes now turn to the Etihad where Sergio Aguero and David Silva carry the hopes of many. Should they fail to produce, they will join a list of names that includes Stephane Sessegnon, Demba Ba, Clint Dempsey and the Newcastle defence – all were heavily backed by Fantasy managers and all of them let us down. The winds of change are beginning to build.

West Brom’s four goals against a seemingly resurgent Sunderland was undoubtedly the result of the day. Peter Odeminwingie made it five goals in two games, James Morison again pulled the strings and came away with his second goal in five games – with four assists in that run, he’s now emerging as a genuine mid-price Fantasy talent.

Was it really an unforeseen thrashing? Those members who took in the recent Numbers Game article may have anticipated events. The Baggies went into the game with the most threatening attack in the league over the last four Gameweeks – better than Tottenham’s, stronger than United’s. Roy Hodgson’s side duly delivered on their statistical form and will now go into games against Chelsea and United brimming with confidence. Even if this isn’t matched by heavy Fantasy investment, that could well arrive soon. Fixtures improve markedly from Gameweek 29 – starting with a trip to Wigan, just one of five games currently played out in that Gameweek.

In the opposite camp from today’s 4-0 result, doubts will now be building when it comes to the recent revival under Martin O’Neill. Sessegnon and budget wonderkid James McClean will visit rivals Newcastle next, then host Liverpool. With the missing fixture still possible in Gameweek 29, Sessegnon’s stock, having soared so high, may start to decline should he draw a blank at Newcastle.

Sessegnon could be the first victim then – the first shed as the template midfield and attacks get broken up. Only the brave benefited from today’s differential deliveries, but it will likely take bigger balls to cling to failing assets and wait for the class to come good once again.

Demba Ba – a player who has rocketed in price and ownership in recent weeks, could be next to suffer sales, should his strike partner Cisse continue to flourish. Even Fulham’s Clint Dempsey, shifted to a wide role by Martin Jol in recent weeks, has notched just a single assist in his last three – his owners will be looking to home matches with Wolves and Swansea as crucial Gameweeks; disappoint there and he too could become expendable.

Of course, there’s surely merit in sitting still. Holding assists that have proven talent that will surely deliver once more. Patience is a virtue that I’ve personally explored all season long, but when another pitifully mediocre Gameweek and accompanying red arrow is starring you in the face, the temptress of tinkering comes calling. Tonight she’s wearing a West Brom shirt and it all looks rather fetching.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

well you should be wanting 2-3 united players anyways so that shouldn't be an issue. 3 newcastle players as im guessing you already have 2 and you can always keep the third for a couple weeks.

so realistically you coudl wc in odemwingie perhaps and and another wba player or two as they ahve an easy game against wigan with newcastle, everton and blackburn to follow. then you probably already have dempsey and one or two swansea players so you could bring in maybe another fulham or swans player. fulham have united, norwich bolton after that and swans have everton the next week so wouldn't be too bad either

actually I just looked at your team and have to agree with greenwindmill. your team is already pretty good for gw 29. get rid of bale,, silva and sess by gw 29 for 3 of nani/young, morrison, siggy/sinclair, and murphy and you will have 11 playing and could lineup like this:

krul (or vorm if you wanted)
            santon, caulker, kelly
dempsey, valencia, 3 mids you bring in,
            ba, welbeck

or you could take a hit to have rooney instead of welbeck which I think would be better and you should have enough funds for the upgrade as you would be downgrading bale and sess

Sounds like to good moves then.. I hade Sinclair from the start of the season and sold him around christmas. I watched many of the Swansea games and I was pretty disappointed with how he played. He gives you the penalties but that's about it.. now he has also lost a lot of set pieces to Sigurdsson. I would go for the Ox, much better player imo and plays for a better team.

I'd say wait longer than that. Wait until the week before the DGW and then make the perfect team for that week and the few weeks after it where he can gain a lot of ground. For example last year people got 170 in a big DGW and he average was way lower.

I don't think there will be much of a long term plan because the season will be over about 4-5 GW's after the double.

so its the wiinter transfer window of my third season in manager mode of fifa. won the league the first year and won league champions league and spanish cup second season if i remember correctly. 4pts behind madrid in the leage, in the semis of the spanish cup and doing well in the champions league but for some reason my 95 messi (or maybe he's 96) who's been in top form and by far the leading scorer and enjoying himself asks for a transfer. wtf!!??

yeah me neither. i can't get ronaldo to leave which I thought he would (got him in Fifa 11 I think) but yet messi wants to... makes no sense to me. messi would never want to leave! thought theyd program it that way.

also theres a few things I think they need to tweak to make it more realistic. like if you loan a player they shouldn't be able to play against you (like in real life). loaned dos santos out to someone else in la liga (can't remember who) and I had a crap game and he ended up getting a lucky goal to tie me. was very frustrating.

I think I play on professional but I might have bumped it up I can't remember...

Thoughts on the Ox's first team prospects longer term? Need a cheaper midfield option (6m and under). Arshavin's departure means one less obstacle but there's still Walcott and Gervinho in his way and Wengers clearly very wary of overusing him.

McClean's the obvious choice but the poor rotation with Siggy is a problem. Looking at Beausejour, has got a couple of assists so far for Wigan and the fixtures are favourable, but well, its Wigan.

    What do we reckon?

You won't get better than McClean for his price. Brunt's handy and is just coming back from injury and plays GW29. Oxlade is good too.
Never rated Beausejour at Brum but haven't seen much of him at Wigan so can't really comment.

I hate Raylor. I got the idea to transfer him in last night and its gone horribly wrong already. I got lured in by his OOPness, Wolves being in disarray and Enrique's bad fixtures. Its actually screwed up my defence. For the next few weeks I have all 5 defenders at home one week then away the next. I didn't even need to sell Enrique as I could get 3 starting defenders each week that I would be happy with. Then I would have Enrique (bought at 5m) for his great fixtures. Not to mention the 10 points plus baps plus immense satisfaction lost today by not doing the alternative defensive transfer I wanted to do.

Still, at least I saw the potential for his jamminess by getting subbed just before they conceded the second 🙂

                    lol nice rant
It was a good idea imo to transfer in Raylor. OOP and set-pieces in the locker he'll deal some damage eventually. You just need to give him a chance and the jamminess will come.

I know, there's reasons to be optimistic. I think the two week break screwed with my mind. Last night I saw that I wouldn't be playing Enrique for another few games. It was stupid because I knew I could get three defenders I was happy with out each week (with a Shotton to Evans transfer in GW28) yet I thought last night that all this time with Enrique on the bench was going to be a problem. Oh well, at least there's another star in my team. Lets see if Sir Ryan can make up for it next week.

5 games that were scheduled for that weekend have been postponed due to team's playing in the FA Cup. Its possible that some of the games get moved to midweek and still fall in GW29 but we don't know yet.

If Chelsea lose their replay they can play as normal on the GW29 weekend. If not that makes 6 games postponed.

With Chelsea winning today and Newcastle drawing, it's even more important that Arsenal capitalise tomorrow, they have nothing else to play for other than this 4th spot which will at least see them end the season with some dignity, must win match therefore RVP will score at least 4, Bale will likely get a yellow card and also score an own goal.
